yay, the orphanage days of Kiryu, Nishiki and Sawamura Yumi.
Nothing like watching Nishiki getting NTR-ed.
Though in the end, everyone got screwed over.

Forget about 5. 0 is a good number for reestablish the series in the west.
i'm guessing this will mean a young kiryu?

Litterally "the place of the vow". Been trying to make a more valid translation but at least you get the gist of it.
edit: Promised Place doesn't sound that good for me for some reason...I prefer thinking they're talking about some place where the characters made a vow that they'll try not to break
Could "the vow" mean the Yakuza initiation ceremony, in this context?

I keep expecting each new Yakuza title to introduce a successor who will take over the franchise from him, but lol they're not doing it. Frankly, if they're not going to hand over his mantle over to a successor, they're better off rebooting the franchise.
Any details about this one and what it's about?
RGG5 spoilers:
I got the feeling that Akiyama and Seijima were poised to take over from Kiryu and Majima respectively going by the end of 5. Kiryu basically ends up dead at the end of 5 and it all feels really final (though I don't believe he's dead). They seemed to hint that Akiyama could potentially take the spot light in the future.
Majima says he's gotten to old for the lifestyle and I got the impression he wanted to pass things over to Seijima who was just badass in RGG5.
I can't wait for this. I've wanted a prequel for a long time so I can see this being pretty damn great if it is set in the past. If its set in late 80's Japan though I'd kill for a shenmue easter egg since that game takes place in the same time period. Secret boss fight against Lan Di? I'd love that.

Wellwhile they figure out what to do with the story next. If you remember Yakuza 2, there's a flashback in which we see Kiryuits obvious he doesn't die at the end of 5, when Haruka is holding him, so he could be taking time off to recover like at the end of 3so we could have adventures based on that, also before 12 years before Y1, Kiryu was captured by thein 1986 during the Jingweon mafia massacre, where he was about 18 and just a Shatei just starting outso we have even more to work with if they wanna base stuff in the past.Snakeflower clan, Led by Lau Ka Long, where he was tortured and had to be rescued by Shintaro Kazama
Also Ryo is just one year older than Kiryu.
As in, Zero chance of coming to the US or?
Would be fun if we could play as Shintaro Kazama for the prologue of Zero.
You know...killing Kazuma's parents
So is this gonna be like an Origin story for Kiryu?

Don't try to make sense of Sega's decisions with Yakuza for the west.

That hostess nomination ceremony thing.
Glad to see they don't bow to western SJWs.
What about Europe?
I hope Nagoshi takes this opportunity to give Kazuma a little bit of a slight redesign, personally.
I've never been a fan of his PS3-era design, where his PS2 look got added a layer of grumpiness. He used to look cool and steady, but then he went sour and ugly.
