During a press panel held today at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, legendary Final Fantasy Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi talked about the promised console version of his mobile title Terra Battle.

Asked by Dualshockers on the development of the console game, Sakaguchi-san confirmed that he made a promise to the fans about it, and mentioned that the story and pre-production are almost complete. He also hopes that when gamers will try Terra Battle 2, they will find a lot of similarities with what they would expect from a console game, and that could work as a sort of bridge between Terra Battle and the future console release.

Sakaguchi-san is hoping that fans get the sense that there is a path that will lead to a console release, that is in indeed the works. While pre-production is complete, creating a console game is a huge endeavor. Due to the resources needed for that, it’s not quite there yet, but it is something that Mistwalker will be working on.

A console version of Terra Battle was first promised in April 2015 when the original game reached two million downloads.

Sakaguchi-san is also currently working on Terra Battle 2 and Terra Wars, both part of the newly-named Terra World franchise, and both for PC, iOS and Android.

INTERESTING!

Cool, glad to hear it's making progress and he's confirming it again even if it's a while away since console games take a while to make.

Have they said anything about the game being a port of the mobile games, or if it's going to be a completely new thing taking advantage of home consoles?
