and OP is missing... typical thread with clickbait title
How do you know FF7 remake isn't coming to NX?
JJ for next Smash director
Far from perfect, but has the best hitboxes in the series.
My opinion is kinda caught in the middle as to what Sakurai should do next. I do agree that he deserves a break either way. But as for what to do afterwards, there's two major things to consider.
I'm honestly not sure what would be the best course of action.
- I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai wanted to do another passion project along the lines of Kid Icarus: Uprising. However...
- The NX Platform needs a Smash game within a timely manner. And if Sakurai pursues a passion project first, we'll either have to wait until the 2nd wave of NX hardware for another Smash game or have Smash 5 be handed off to another developer. Either scenario has the potential to not end well, especially the former (because there's a decent chance that a new director could do a great job).
I honestly think, for better or worse, Abram's Star Wars is gonna fade from the public's mind faster than any of Lucas', including the sequels, once they're all released and there's nothing to speculate about...
Force Awakens was good but it wasn't as mind-blowing unique as the originals, and it isn't as infamously bad as the prequels. There really won't be much to talk about I imagine once we learn all the secrets Awakens keeps from us, but Sakurai is probably right Lucas' vision would be far more interesting and culturally relevant.
There's no way the NX is getting a Smash game by Sakurai within a timely manner. Even if he started developing it as soon as Bayonetta and Corrin released, we still wouldn't get it until 2018-19.
The best thing would be to just port Smash 4 to the NX with all DLC included as a launch or at least first year title, have Sakurai do one of his pet projects next, then he might be ready to do Smash 5 to release early on the NX2.
At least, that's what I hope happens. Kid Icarus Uprising was so great, I'd like for him to be allowed to experiment again.
Making something, and completing it is a huge undertaking, and there are a lot of places where fans cant see. Its like building a house, but people focus on a single painting thats hung up on a wall in one room, and fixate on it, and keep listing off their complaints of that painting. These situations are very common.
I think that the re-releases are redundant and superfluous.
Yup, treating a minority's opinion(s) as the end be all? Hah hah, no.Too bad about the title. Doesn't excuse people not reading anything before hitting reply. He's trying to make a case to treat creators with respect, which judging by these replies, some of you would really benefit in reading.
I'm brushing a very broad stroke (This is from someone who loves competitive smash) but this is where people who say Sakurai needs to go because he won't make a Melee style deep fighting engine slip up. Without Sakurai you won't have the little touches that make Smash games stand out from other crossovers, fanservice that no one would have even expected and a large focus on just making an enjoyable experience for everyone, not just a specific audience.I think people who believe the series would be better off without Sakurai really fall into this. There are so many people that have such a simplified and linear view of the design behind Smash Bros that they never see just how significant and important Sakurai's role as the director really is.
The prequels made bank too.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl is the worst thing since my son.
kid icarus uprising

LOL. Not even close, Samurai.
I'm guessing this is in reference to the negative reaction to Brawl. In which case, it's not like a single painting hung up on a wall, but a house with a whole wall entirely missing!
Brawl was well-received. Based on the context, he's probably talking about people who take the entire game for granted and whine about a single character/feature being excluded.LOL. Not even close, Samurai.

This'll be taken out of context when people start discussing a Smash 4 NX version heh
Go to any Smash tournament. A good number of them will shit on Brawl (though not all of them, to be sure).
A strong minority that won't keep quiet. Good on them.you still aren't getting it, they are still the minority.

To be fair, Sakurai has brought up that he had trouble with Brawl because he didn't have much help. That's why with Smash 4 he teamed up with Namco Bandai and their experience with fighters and balancing.
He said that?
What the fuck? Lucas was director of the first Star Wars and heavily involved in Return of the Jedi. While he certainly wasn't the only person involved with the original trilogy, acting like he didn't have much to do with it is ridiculous retconning bullshit.I can't quite tell, but Sakurai seems to be following the misunderstanding that George Lucas had much to do with the success or even the making of the original trilogy.
Um you should read his actual article, because it is very personal and moving.
And this thread is already starting to look like the problem.
Well, the best as long as you're not playing Metaknight.Far from perfect, but has the best hitboxes in the series.

Wouldn't this more-or-less cripple the first wave of NX hardware? Granted, maybe Nintendo could get away with Smash 5 borrowing heavily from Smash 4 & adding more from there, but I'm not sure if a Smash 4 re-release alone would be enough. There's no way the NX is getting a Smash game by Sakurai within a timely manner.
