Samsung Galaxy S4 pictures/specs leak

As a function over form kind of guy, I don't understand all the complaints about how these things look. I suppose my iPhone 4S was 'prettier' than my Galaxy S3, but I found the functionality to be inferior on the iPhone. I couldn't care less what it looks like.

I don't have any problem with the design. I'm pleased they at least eliminated the unbalanced placement of the home button on the S3, although it would be much better if they did all capacitive buttons in the same arrangement as the One X. What is a real shame though, is that Samsung aren't plumping for better materials. This would look great if they did it in Lumia-class polycarbonate.

Pretty sure that the S3 is made from polycarbonate.

I guess the issue is with the fact that the competition is using much superior build quality and materials. The galaxy series of phones are fine, light and the specs are second to none. I guess the design is just there, inoffensive, but nothing special.

Doesn't look too bad in the video. Looks like a more refined s3. I still can't tell if the rim is metal or not, but sort of looks that way.

It should be considering the screen is 5 inches.

Kind of disappointed in the look considering it looks like some in between model between the S3 and the Note 2.
Uggggghhh. I don't want a phone th big. I may just say fuck it and get an iPhone. Nothing decent is coming out for Verizon. How's the dna? Does anyone here have it?

I've never understood it either as all these phones are just rectangles with a display and a vast majority of them will be hidden underneath a protective casing anyways

I'll take it. But please be more durable this time. S2 is a beast durability wise, S3 is a light weight in comparison. Gorilla Glass 1 > 2.

You got that right.

Never seen so many customers come in with broken screens after such light drops. Some even in Otter Box cases. 2>1 on the iPhone, that's for sure.

I was never going to get the S4, as the screen is too big for my liking, but its disappointing to see they're keeping with the same cheap plastic look.

It's going to look funny at work with an S3, S4 and Note II all next to each other. Customers are going to be confused as fuck lol.

I actually made fun of one of my friends. This image was posted along with "LIKE AND SHARE TO WIN A FREE GALAXY S4!" and my friend shared it. I felt bad that I actually had to explain that it was a render and that the SIV hasn't been announced. Not to mention the page that created the "contest" had like 3 total posts.

Oh come on. Just look at that mockup for a second before posting it. Nevermind the fact that the image is a banner for a fanpage, not an official Samsung account....

A little common sense goes a long ways.

I don't know anything about Android phones...so this sense wouldn't be common to me.

I also grabbed the shot from a friend who shared the post.

Screens with bezels look like screens with bezels. And as an owner of a glass phone, screw glass phones.

Plastic >>> Glass
No I haven't broken mine.... yet

Looks identical to a Nexus 4 in terms of form. A bit sad that it's not using the 8-core processor, but at least my decision to get the Nexus 4 a few weeks ago has been slightly redeemed.

The phone in the leaked video is ugly. Samsung is a top tier, if not THE, top tier OEM in terms of sales, they need to step their fricking game up. Stop being so cheap with materials for their flagships.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure they chose plastic to keep the phone light despite the size.

Polycarbonate is just a fancy word for plastic. Nokia just uses better, sturdier plastic than Samsung which uses the shittiest in the business.

yeah, because Samsung wants their phones compared to homebuilding products.

why should they use materials that are terrible for phones? looks? pride? blog points for 'premium materials'?

no.

they are building phones here, and i sincerely hope that they continue to use the right stuff for the job.

The ability to display something depends on how deep the black is

And LCD had choppy motion

Black levels are one single component of picture quality. The most important being colour reproduction which OLED is absolutely abysmal at.

And LCD don't have "choppy motion" but they do have slower pixel response than an OLED, something which is important in competitive FPS games, much less important on a cellphone.(so long as the screen isn't of such poor quality that smearing occurs)

I don't think I'll be able to do a phone bigger than my GS3.

The GS3 is even pushing my limit to how big a phone should be. Here's to hoping that the Motorola X isn't a 5 inch screen.

Samsung's hardware is consistently impressive and I really like Android now, but, the Galaxy line of phones is very underwhelming aesthetically. The plastic needs to go, now.

So will this be quad core this go around in the states? I would guess they can fit LTE on it now.

quad.. octa.. same thing really, depends on marketing.

and then there's stuff like the removable battery, replaceable covers, gotta have those flip covers and qi charging covers and extended battery covers... their accessory game is a factor too!
