kinda glad I didn't wait for the s4 announcement before picking up a lumia 920. that design philosophy is boring as hell now. I'd dare say the s2 was the best form factor-wise out of samsung's galaxy line. But now with the Xperia raising the bar to new heights on phone design, I was hoping the s4 would come out with guns blazing.

I just wish Xperia ZL or Z had a better camera... I do agree S2 was their best product.

indeed, the ZL design is pretty nice. well, except for the sealed battery...

Iphones still being tiny is why I'll never buy one. If I find myself in a situation where I NEED iOS apps I'll get an iPad mini.

Same. I would jump on a 4.8" iPhone but until then I, for one, welcome our new Samsung overlords.

I think the Galaxy S2, especially the Sprint/Boost Mobile version, is the best looking phone from Samsung so far.

I prefer a future where your screen is used to display content, not buttons.

i want a screen that's all screen. pulldown volume sliders, place hand on screen to turn off or on, sensors hidden behind screen, notification LED is just a few pixels on the screen that blinks, speaker grill is just blended into the screen.

I love my note 2. The samsung designs are amazing and function over form. Its basically a giant screen which is thin and light. While others may design technically better looking phones which are more aesthetically pleasing, the phone is about its screen and tech for me, not how it looks.

The last good looking phone i have seen was the motorolla star tac. Phones are just big screens now so there isnt so much you can do within those guidelines.

These "leaked" pics obviously don't match up with the teaser pic released by Samsung. So why are we still speculating about them?

Too bad the Galaxy S line has meh screens compared to rest of the flagships.

Unless a phone does away with all bezels, why the fuck would some of you prefer losing pixels and screen real estate to have on screen buttons? I just don't get it.

It's usually what happens when you get on screen buttons. Look at Xperia Z or ZL. The Z is about the same size as S3 despite having a 5inch screen as it doesn't have to have that huge home button and thus bezel. Xperia ZL, the engineering marvel that it is, is actually smaller than S3 despite the 5 inch screen. Now the S4 looks pretty damn big thanks to all the extra bezel and buttons.

There's just one button on the bezel.

Have you actually seen how the Z looks like? It doesn't have a physical button, but it still has a upper and lower bezel. In the end it doesn't matter whether it has a button or not. It's not like Sony's phone doesn't have a bezel at all. Let's compare a newer Samsung phone to Z instead of the much older S3.

Note 2 5.5 inch vs. Z 5 inch.
And suddenly the size seems right, not bigger at all, due to ONE physical button.

The fact that Z looks smaller and by quite a bit than the S3 despite having a larger screen speaks for itself, though you're right, maybe the physical button itself isn't the problem. Putting ZL in the picture would really drive that point home, though.

It's a Note 2

and someday it will be available for purchase, while the GS3 was out last June.

while the phone that actually is out? top and bottom bezels sure do look to be about the same length as the S3...

The ZL is out. People are buying them right now.

Also, you have a picture of the Z there, which is larger because it is waterproof, needs more internal space for rubber seals etc...

it's out? what was the release date?

and yes, i have a picture of the Z, people were talking about the Z vs the GS3.

I'm still quite excited for the reveal, even though I'm more than content with my N4, but dammit they reeeeally need to do away with all the fisher price plastic.

Its pretty much what I expected.

A few cosmetic changes, a spec bump, and some new Touchwiz features.

Not enough to make me want to upgrade from my S3, but its going to be a solid phone for those who are new to the Galaxy line.
