Very cool idea...im actually wondering why people think this was a bad idea?
Last post in that thread has this:
Impressive stuff. It's not from the scrapped remake, but from a homebrew MK Mugen project. He's still working on it. :O
Seeing as the quote at the bottom of the UMK3 pic says something about lost treasure I'd assume you could unlock MK3/UMK3 characters. The blog post also said something about Nitewolf and he was MK3.The 2 images in the OP of Kitana look like different actors. First is MK2 Kitana, then UMK3 Kitana. Is this just MK1-2 or the original trilogy?
I just learned that Dan Southworth (voice and mocap actor for Vergil from DMC 3 and the Quantum Ranger) was going to play Sub-Zero and Nightwolf. That would've been awesome.
I still want someone to make a digitized actor fighting game with HD assets...

Looks much better than any "2D" fighter with cartoony/cell shaded/anime style 3D polygon graphics. It looks even better than some of the best 2D sprite based 2D games like Street Fighter 3. I'm just tired of anime in fighting games (and in general). I really want a MK game like this, in HD and with plenty of animation frames.Last post in that thread has this:

Yeah heres some various stuff from that Mugen MK HD project:
HOLY SHIT
A remake of this is kind of boring but I want somebody to make a new game using this technique. It would probably be pretty expensive and difficult for whatever return it would get, however.
