Just picked up the Zelda on today.

I have googled and googled but only ever came across one instance but did anyone elses wii u smell kind of funny when you first unboxed it? Mine smelled like burnt rubber or something and i quickly inspected everyone and nothing was melted or on fire. That smell kind of lingered for a couple of hours but nothing now.

Thought it was odd.

I don't know what value trade-ins have in the US but here in the UK the main game shop only gives $80 for it so I doubt it'd be far from that? Might be worth holding onto. Titanfall could hold you out till Halo 5 comes out if you choose to trade it!

Yeah with all the games and bits I have for the 360 I'd want a pay nothing trade to a Wii U console, sensor and with a game. I'll see, might just have to hang on to the 360 for LAN parties though, stupid lack of backwards compatibility. You'd think emulation would have been easy given all the extra resources from 360 to X1. I'll grab Titanfall 7-10 days after it launches as I'm on holidays when it launches, really liked the beta though and was already playing with about 30% of my Halo mates on X1.

I do miss playing Mario, Zelda & DK though. I really want to play those with my son/his friends and the gamepad/second screen is quite useful for the kids living room and having two kids. We have Wii that really didn't have much use and I should trade that instead but it would be worth SFA. Skylanders sucks by comparison to Nintendo first party, it is time my son played some real games e.g Nintendo. He's too young for Halo (almost 5).

It was overwhelming i just noticed the smell. I don't know if it was just like new console smell like how the wii-u cases smell a little odd once you open them (i sniff the inside of my cases when i open them, don't judge) and i got that here only it was a rubber/plastic burn like smell. I only ask because if nobody else experienced this i am probably either going to have a stroke or an electrical fire somewhere.

Update: So i think it actually might of been the plastic that is stuck to the console when you peel it and it just gave off that odor and it lingered ( i have a pretty small room) i took a big sniff inside the box where all the plastic and stuff was and smelled it. I assume that was it but i will find out in a few hours cause i am about to go deep in this mario 3D world. Also, does anyone even play on their tv? from what i played so far it's going to be like 90% playing on pad.

I don't have it fully disconnect but I'd say 50% of the time the signal to the gamepad is really choppy. I can't figure out what's interfering with it and it can happen within a metre of the console. I find moving away our iPhones might help but realistically that's probably not doing anything.

I tried placing my iphone away from the couch and for some reason I had a perfect gaming session playing NSMB. I put in Wonderful 101 and played that with not one single hiccup on the game pad. I even tried it today and this time with my AV cabinet door closed and it ran flawlessly. I'm glad I can finally enjoy this system and can't wait for MK8!

Smelling a game case when you open it for the first time is mandatory.. It's so goood. Do the Wii-U games have that nice new smell?

I've completed the demo (both story and missions) almost ten times each, and I keep discovering new stuff every. single. time. Ridiculous depth right there.

Yes, and speaking of deals, I think that the best game of the system and one of the best games ever made, Toki Tori 2+, is on a sale right now.

Good choices. Just add Pikmin 3 and you have a nice selection of games from wide variety on genres to start with.

I don't believe there is a demo for Pikmin 3. It's an amazing game, though, and I would normally never been into an RTS. It's got that Nintendo magic touch.

You're missing on:
Lego City Undercover (highly underrated game, I loved it)
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (check the demo first, it's a REALLY hard game and not everyone might like it)
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U (Do I have to add a reason?!)

And probably nothing else, just get these and your backlog wouldn't only be full of games to play but also full of all the awesomeness the Wii U has output until now!

NSMBU is hardly required playing.

I know a lot of people are just fatigued by the New series but NSMBU/NSLU are the best of the bunch. I think they're worth picking up even if you shelve them until you're ready for 2D Mario again

Wow, all great choices. Specially Tropical Freeze (my favourite 2D platformer ever), Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends and 3D World. TW101 is also amazing on its own. Good stuff.

Nope. The only problem I have is, I won the auction on the 5th, I paid using PayPal, and it was marked as paid. I then find out something is up with my card and the payment might not have sent, so I sorted that and it seems like the money didn't actually go through till the 13th.

This matches up with the seller because it was marked as dispatched that day. The problem I have now is, it said in the listing 1st class postage, there have been 6 working days since then so it should have surely arrived by now? I messaged them on eBay a couple of days ago, emailed them the day after, still no response.

As for NSMBU, I think 3D World will satisfy me more than enough for my Mario fix, and DK will fill my 2D platforming so I think I'll skip it.

I submitted a ticket thing on eBay today, it basically says give the seller 8 days to respond and/or have the item arrive or I should get my money back. Unless it got lost in the post I can't see how it has taken over a week to arrive.

The refubs come with a 1 year warranty so don't count it out. Hope you get a Wii U soon tho, those are great games.

I'd say it is, but only if you skipped the Wii one.

But even then, the Wii one (at its current price) would be the better choice, unless you really hate the lack of a classic control option.

I still have to beat Mario World and Pikmin 3 but Zombi U is $14.99 on Amazon right now so I ordered that as well... Not sure I will get around to it anytime soon but I doubt I will catch it much cheaper.

Welcome to the Wii U community. What you are going to find like on Miiverse for example is a lot of really nice people who are really supportive of the system and friendly when playing online.

If Nintendo treats the Wii U with love for next 3-4 years, it is really going to pay off for them when they release their next console.
