Sega of America to be downsized and relocated to Southern California

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
:(

Makes me sad.

Hopefully companies in that area like Zynga and Ubisoft and Sony and EA, Warner and or Blizzard can help them find new homes.

Then again, some of those companies are straight in SF too so hope it's not a sign to come of the high City prices driving them out slowly.

I find this to be a little sad. I hate to be that person, but I find this to be another sign that the company is continuing to decline.

Hopefully the employees laid off can find work quickly.

So when sonic team was in San Francisco they took a lot of cues from the local skate culture, music, and architecture.

Sonic Adventure 3 will be Sonic and his shitty friends sitting around a pool hall complaining about traffic and getting into heated arguments over the best Korean fusion food trucks.

I'm in.

Crazy Taxi was also inspired by San Francisco, and other first-party DreamCast games from that era iirc

Aksys, XSEED, NISA, Sekai Project. All the niche ones.

I don't think any of those companies are based out of Irvine. I know for sure we aren't -- and Aksys is just down the road from us, so they aren't either.

Carbine is, though! I know that because I have friends who work/worked there.

(And to be fair, Irvine isn't super-duper far away, to the extent that we've had employees who've commuted from there -- but it's like, an hour+ commute, so it kinda sucked for them!)

But in the LAish area, compared to up in the Bay Area, that is. I wasn't really specifying Irvine.

The 'H' stands for hentai.
"sega moving to Southern California"

Woohoo, I can finally apply for a job there and just commute to work.

"Downsizing"

Damn, I really don't want to apply to a job whose future is a big unknown.
