"Shadowrun will be the greatest awesome I'M COVERED IN...500 - Internal Server Error"

Hey, FASA played the game on one map for a year!

Well that's all they had while the other companies they outsourced to were working on their maps.

....ba dum pish.

If they give you all of the weapons, races, magic and tech you'd have all the gameplay - and this game is all about the gameplay.
yea really. if it had all the races/tech/magic i wouldn't buy it :lol .

I got thinking about Shadowrun's maps last night and aside from Maelstrom I think I like all of the maps. They're all unique and are built for different tactics.

its actually download really weird for me, its making 5% jumps, it went from 1 to 5 to 10...well now its 11, but still.

its weird for me too it took less then 5mins to get to 99% then it stopped, so i thought i'd cancel then reactivate the download. once reactivated the percentage was 5% and now its not moving... so i guess its WTF

Same thing here. It's really ****ing annoying, since I have a download cap. Idiots. The exact same thing happened to me with the Command & Conquer 3 demo.

I hope this isn't a trend. Now's not the time for Microsoft to be losing grip on what has so far been an excellent service.

downloaded demo it in about 40 minutes....though only got to play against bots for literally 5 minutes before I had to leave for work =/

wow, Shadowrun is actually pretty fun, I still dont think I will buy the game, but it is still fun. The powers are pretty cool, but the weapons pretty much suck hard.

and not letting you map powers to the Dpad is a terrible idea, stopping and having to switch to tree of life in the middle of battle is lame.

That is intentional. They don't want everyone to be able to run around with every power easily available, they want people to focus on teamwork and specialized players. One person is a healer, one is tank, etc.

You can quick cast a tree in a split second. You don't have to remap the buttons just quick cast.

You never really want to map Tree of Life or Ressurect to a button slot unless you have one free. So it's fine in the early rounds, but put something else in the slot in the latter rounds. Same thing with minion, quick cast it, don't assign it to a button slot unless you have one free.

It's not quite that fast. You can't quickcast while running past a dead body without at least pausing a little, which is a problem. He's right, they should have made d-pad buttons mappable for noncombat spells. In addition, quickcasting also requires bringing up a menu that blots out what you're seeing, which is sort of a problem in a high-intensity shoot out, no?

Speaking of you, why aren't you on playing with the rest of the Gaffers? I've played every day since the game came out and haven't seen you. After your enormous buildup, you'd think you'd at least show up to play.

played some more matches last night... i'm still not as good as most of the players but i think i'm finding a niche as a "support" guy. so what i've been doing is focusing on providing long range sniping abilities matched with enhanced vision to scout enemies. on top of that, i've got teleport for quick escapes. i'm thinking of taking it a notch further and carrying tree of life and res for support. i'm not much of a front man, never have been. but i noticed that if my teammates are down, i can usually get my share of kills. :) havin' a blast.

err quckcasting isn't bringing up a menu. Quickcasting is mapping a tech / magic to RB, LB, or LT. It works fast enough. Also i've ran while rezing before...

When he says quick casting, he means via the right trigger. Some people hold B, go to the spell they want, map it, and then cast. He meant to leave things like tree of life and rez not mapped. That way you hold B, go to tree of life and pull the right trigger.

I never map rez or tree of life. I tend to quick cast those two spells. I played so much I can get to them in a second anyways. I leave RB, LT, and LB for combat spells and tech. I did play a game last night against a team that was killing us off really fast so I did leave Rez mapped so I can run and cast.

I'm bipolar.

well in that case i'm totally fine with it. It wouldn't be much fun if everybody could cast all the spells at all the same speeds. Makes you choose which ones are more important to your strategy

Oh, I thought he was talking about using the right trigger in the menu to cast. Someone didn't know you could map stuff to the triggers? It tells you right up front in the game.

It's not a "problem" as you'er saying it. It's supposed to be like that. Like others have said, you're not supposed to be an unstoppable magic/tech machine that can do everything with the press of a button.

I mean, that'd get terribly boring, tactically at least. Got smoke? Everybody else has gust. Did you kill someone? Everyone on their team has easy access to rez anyway. Chasing someone who's almost down? He is guaranteed to have tree of life around the corner, so you might as well stop chasing as he's gonna have full health in a second anyway.

Think about it; super-quick access to more than 3 powers/techs would make the game really lame and it'd just turn into a spaz-fest of people running around using every power everywhere, and there'd be no room for strategy or figuring out what powers to buy to counter a skilled player on the other team. The limited selection is what makes the game tactical and fun.

thanks for the tip haklong, did not know this "quick cast" existed until you mentioned it.

I disagree. What we see now is people to afraid to map Rez because it takes up a slot they might otherwise use to keep themselves alive. You'll note I suggested noncombat skills on the d-pad, in particular tree of life and rez. Those are the two I'd like to see, because they increase game longevity and don't really wildly upset game balance (since both sides would be able to do it). What negatives do you see in having everyone able to have rez/tree in addition to three combat skills?

I like how you can still bring up the store during a match by pressing start but it's sloooow and dangerous to do :lol

No, we really don't. I play this game all day long (seriously, I'm addicted and I don't even want help!) and there's always a medic. The answer why is simple: they were smart enough to make an achievement for rezing.

besada said:

Because that way everybody would have it and they'd lose their value.

If you were to do damage to someone, they'd just smoke and pop up a tree. I never buy tree now because right now I'm playing the elf ninja with smoke and I have no room or use for it. This means people can chase me down if I smoke, which they wouldn't be able to do if I could just pop around a corner and throw down a tree, especially considering how fast elves heal. It wouldn't be a very intense or exciting chase at all, if you knew the chasee would just heal in a few seconds anyway, would it?

It would also upset the balance of things. Naturally, there are smart players and dumb players. Aggressive players and tactical players. If you figure out who is who and what strategies they're using, you can get an advantage by taking out their smartest player while some dumbasses run around desperately missing you with their katana. If said dumbasses could just easily and constantly revive their best player, it'd constantly be +-0 and your figuring out of his tactics would be useless as he'd be up the second you ran away from his body anyway. As just one example.

I already wanted to buy the game, and I'm only holding off because I'm going to be real busty for the next few weeks, but damn, the demo really guaranteed a purchase - very solid, love the powers, and felt downright fun...

Glad to see FASA came through!

Man I hate how itchy of a trigger finger I get. Usually late in a round when it comes down to the wire my trigger finger gets twitchy and I'll occasionally shoot without really looking when I turn the corner and someone is there. I also kind of just chuck grenades at enemies late in the round if I'v still got them so I can re-map another skill to LB. It's not my fault my teamate is running around a corner as I glide by chucking grenades at a troll to soften him up. Hardly worth kicking me, especially when I could have rezzed you if you had given me five extra seconds instead of immediately voting to kick me. Yeah I'm still bitter about it, I hate being kicked from games for an accidental TK especially when I never bitch about beingn shot/TK'ed by other places. Blarghsdfg

Just did all the tutorials and a game, very entertaining stuff. Games last forever, but the purchasing thing is pretty elitist so I was struggling when I first started the game. On the whole, I'm pleasantly surprised, but somewhat scared of it's complexity to go for a full purchase just yet.

I guess you're clearly playing with different groups than I am, then, as I routinely see matches where half the team is dead, and no one has Rez. Regarding the achievement, it's not much of an incentive to those that already have it.
