Shitty games that your dumb ass paid full price for

This list is of the games that weren't awful, but I felt weren't worth the full price of admission, so in no particular order;

Uncharted 3
Destiny
Modern Warfare 3
Battlefield 3
Killzone: Shadowfall
Gran Turismo 6

Diablo 3 PC. I wish I had waited for the Console versions that include the expansion, controller support, and is cheaper than the PC version+expansion (and much more likely to go on sale than Blizzard's digital PC store). And the loot was just so mediocre for the whole time I played it unless I used the auction house which took away what little feeling of accomplishment that game gives me. It's a fun game, and the expansion/patches seemed to fix a lot of it, but I'd much prefer to play with a controller.

I don't have either an XB1 or a PS4, but Diablo 3 is hilariously one of the few games I'd be excited to pick up once I do buy one of them.

I too bought the PC one + expansion and probably should have waited, but I double dipped when I found the PS4 one for $30 and it's great, works so well on the gamepad it's very enjoyable to play again, def worth it!

We all have at least one game in our collection that makes us feel completely idiotic for having bought at full price. Let's name them.

I guess I'll start this thread off with a true stinker:

Not only did I buy Duke Nukem Forever on day 1, but I got the Balls of Steel edition for $100, with the Duke Nukem bust and the artbook and everything.

I don't fucking know man. I guess I was still holding out hope that DNF would somehow be an awesome game, because how hilarious would that be?! Surely, I thought, this would be a legendary release even decades from now, no matter how good it was.

sigh.

Damn you Duke Nukem Forever! Damn you to HELL!!!

Some of you are just being picky. While i agree with destiny and fable 3 being total letdowns, the only game i bought full price that was straight up trash was:

Homefront

Sorry...

You have my condolances. I was going to post a couple of my games but after this post it would probably be considered bad taste. That is a truly awful game, truly, truly awful.

Anyway I thought Id add this. I dont know what I was thinking. It was terrible. Should have known as it was Ubisoft, Ive never liked any of thier games but this one was down right gut renching crap.

For me, it was Tomodachi Life. I thought that it would be some sort of Animal Crossing/The Sims mishmash, and boy I was wrong. Sure, it's somewhat funny at the beginning, but you soon realize that your options are extremely limited.

I was riding front and center on the hype train and laid down $100 for the Destiny limited edition. All the odds and ends that came with it like the journal and postcards only made the fact that the game had no coherent story to speak of sting even more. I figured that the expansion pass might help redeem it somewhat, but that hope was dashed when The Dark Below was more content-starved than the base game. Thankfully I didn't put down $150 for the Ghost edition.

Wait, it gets better! I managed to FORGET that I pre-ordered this, so I pre-ordered a SECOND time and picked up a regular retail version at midnight on release day. So when the limited edition showed up in the mail the next day, I realized I was now sitting on two copies of the game. I figured I could sell the limited edition to someone for what I bought it for (not trying to make a profit here, but figured someone else would want it at launch price and I'd just take a small hit on the fees and shipping). Then over the next few days the bad reviews rained down and *no one* wanted the limited edition. I ended up keeping that one and trading in the regular version for $44. I ended up putting nearly 100 hours into the game so it wasn't a total wash, but still not my finest hour.

Total spent on Destiny = $115

Less than a month later I hadn't learned my lesson and pre-ordered Driveclub. Enjoyed the single player for a bit, but the server issues were such a fiasco I traded it in and picked up Bayonetta 2 (GREAT decision). A few months later I picked up Driveclub again on sale for $35 and I'm now enjoying it a lot with the new content they've put out and the fixed servers.

Have I learned my lesson yet? My The Order: 1886 limited edition pre-order says that I have a problem. A serious problem. But that statue and steelbook...

TL;DR
I spent too much on Destiny, I still pre-ordered Driveclub, I'm still foolish enough to pre-order The Order, and I clearly have a problem.

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent
My brother and I were fooled by seeing Goldeneye on the title and the idea of playing as a villain. Only you play as a good bad guy and shoot other, actual bad guys. After a good amount of solid James Bond games, this comes out with its bad plot, wonky controls, bad multiplayer, and just being an all around bad that I got angry I spent a whole $50 on it. Not as bad as some other choices in this thread but when you save up money to buy a game and it turns out that bad to you, the disappointment is increased. One of the worst purchases I've made but I know there's another one or two I could pick.

Wasn't that bad of a dumbass purchase since it was released at $40, plus I got the original game for free on XBLA. But man, it was so bad. I did hate that I had to buy another copy after a friend of mine lost it. (Plus I wanted to give it a second chance. Didn't work.) So okay, I spent $70 on this shitty game. I still got the original for free.

I bought this and Resistance day one. I was desperate for a good portable FPS.

...

Thief. What I really regret is that there is a good game somewhere in the reboot. It's just buried by poor design decisions. What could have been...

If you want a good portable FPS game go with Killzone Mercenary. Its pretty much the only good FPS on vita.

Oh yeah, I also bought Black Ops 2 on PC for full price, thinking I'd get into the multiplayer for a few weeks and play the campaign. Played the multiplayer for about 10 minutes and the campaign for about 2 hours before losing interest and never playing again.

Even tried the Zombies mode and just found it overly complicated and obtuse.

Not a bad game, just not for me anymore.

Didn't pay full price for Diablo 3 but it's a purchase I am slightly regretting. Thus far it's been nothing but a bore on the highest levels of difficulty. Shouldn't need to play until torment to find enjoyment.

I bought 2 copies of Sonic 06 at the full price of $60 each, because my 360 ruined the first copy during the first cutscene of the game. Nobody can top that amount of stupid.

In hindsight, my Xbox 360 was most likely trying to save me.

This is going to sound strange but I've recently been thinking...all of them? Considering how much one could save by just being patient.

But I'll still buy my favourites at launch lol.

Not really shitty, but recently it was Shadows of Mordor. My 9 year old nephew loves it though. No story progress but a shit ton of orcs killed.

Not quite shitty but disappointing, but I bought the collector's edition of Dark Souls 2. I wouldn't even pay full retail price for it after playing it so spending even more money sucked.

"Just bought a 360, let's order a JRPG because I've never played one this gen (my pc is trash tier)"

Got this "gem"
UL5T2kL.jpg

Pretty much played up to the part that annoying girl joins you and I was already tired of the game.
It wasn't full price but it was way way more expensive than what I usually pay.
Thank god I had mass effect 2 in the bundle to keep me entertained that month.

Sonic lost world is mine! What the hell happened after the first few levels? It's like the team made a glorious tech demo of world 1, then got the stamp of approval only to go back to their desks and realize "oh wait, we have to make a WHOLE game?"

The game just got progressively worse until I found it borderline unplayable

Edit: shadow the hedgehog gets an honorable mention: I'm actually proud I was amongst the first to feel the disappointment. I even saw the first teaser trailer with gameplay and thought "really? That can't be right. Looks like sonic dx... Well maybe it looks so bad graphically since it isn't done yet"

And the rest is history.

I actually didn't mind Duke. It's not something I'll play again after beating it but it was dumb fun and I don't regret it.

Biggest regret of late is Lords of the Fallen on PS4, mainly because I bought it digital so no way to return it.

Ugh.

Isn't funny that some of the games you listed have been critically acclaimed and rest have been rated pretty much great?
