Just saw the video...It's SO much faster.
So now it's bad that the show differences in a video ? I mean ofc it's a real problem, it's not like they were denying it before. You know this is a real issue when Nintendo has to make a video about it to say HEY WE FIXED IT DONT HATE US
Much better. I hope it adds more than just fast loading times.
I'm willing to buy a replacement battery, but I don't think one that just sits in the socket is out yet? I don't want some bolt on thing that clamps onto the controller.

3X the battery life and sits comfortably on the default battery space.
I recall that the Virtual Console was going to be added during the spring update, along with other shit.
I personally think companies love to give the illusion of OS evolution, so they tend to hold features back, but in the case of an OS as laughably unoptimized as the Wii U's, they probably didn't have the time lol. This looks much more acceptable.
Going on what some others have mentioned, what's with companies not adding folders from the get-go anyway. You'd think they'd realise after Apple and their iPhones.
hope 3ds gets a similar patch. Takes way fucking too long to do anything. Even going to notifications takes like half a min.
It's really nice to see Nintendo addressing some fundamental complaints. This may be a small step, but any step in the right direction is good at this point.
I hope this April update doesn't come come out on April 30th or some bull like that. Hopefully its early April.
I think something is wrong with your 3DS. Are you using the normal SD card or a store bought one?
like on the one hand it's understandable why nintendo would publicize this update to its fans, but on the other it's amazing that they're actually publicizing a firmware update for 20-second OS loadtimes
I'm probably buying that when it's available. I've put in over 15 hours of Lego City Undercover over 4 play sessions. The only reason I stop is because I need to charge the gamepad and don't like to play while tethered to the wall.Yeah, that's the one I want, not the shit with the kickstand. I'm not gonna park it by my huffy outside.
Cant' find it anywhere currently, though, seems back ordered everywhere and their locator shows no results. If it's actually been released, I blame Monster Hunter.
Still too slow.
Hopefully it will continue to improve by leaps and bounds like this over the year. Cut that time in half or down to a 3rd it would be really good.
One thing I appreciate though is that the turnaround time is good. I dislike the way OS updates are handled on the Android platform (not sure about iOS since I don't own those products) -- release cycles are long and if you don't have the "right" hardware models... GLHF.I personally think companies love to give the illusion of OS evolution, so they tend to hold features back, but in the case of an OS as laughably unoptimized as the Wii U's, they probably didn't have the time lol.
The Wii U should have shipped this way. Nintendo isn't doing this to address complaints - it's simply patching a rushed-to-market OS.It's really nice to see Nintendo addressing some fundamental complaints. This may be a small step, but any step in the right direction is good at this point.
My 3DS runs really fast, no problems at all with opening and closing things. Its awesome. But they've had longer to work on it.
Wii U on the other hand needed big work to get its speed up and its good to see they're making progress.![]()
That's much better. Maybe by the end of the year the Wii U will actually be an appealing console if they can fix issues like this and get some software out there.
A proper account system should be the next thing on their list.
Unless you own the magical golden 3DS, it's still a very slow device. The 3DS being such a catastrophe in terms of OS certainly doesn't instill much confidence in Nintendo's capabilities to better the Wii U.

It does seem odd doesn't it? Because I think most people expect better performance from a dedicated console housed in a giant box rather than a small tablet with everything shrunk, crammed together and clocked down for heat and battery concerns that was released two years prior. Why compare a console to an iPad? Seems odd.
I've been wondering about this. I'd imagine that most of the work that they need to do at this point is to have some web portal for account management, right? Like nowadays, people have been able to go through customer service reps who can easily have licenses transferred over, which I think used to be that it could only be done if you sent the hardware to their repair service center. This ... THIS !!!i hope they have looked at XBl, PSN , STEAM to see what to do .
It still seems a bit too long to me, but I guess at least Nintendo learned to speed up the system a bit.
Still too slow.
Uhm. Thanks, Nintendo. I guess.
Begs the question how they ever thought it was acceptable to release a consumer product in that state in the first place. Hopefully they keep optimising because although it's much better, it's still poor.
What! Let me go follow his account.First of two updates.
I didn't realise this video was on Miiverse. Posted by Iwata himself, no less.
