KyoZz

Tag, you're it.
Releasing Today Following Official Reveal

The Short Message is a spin-off of the classic horror franchise set in modern-day Germany. It casts you as Anita, explores a location known as The Villa from a first-person perspective.
Previous ratings board leaks suggest that it will have strong suicide themes and horror violence.

Silent Hill: The Short Message is being paired with Bloober Team's remake of Silent Hill 2, which was first revealed back in 2022 and also received a new trailer during the State of Play. It's part of an ambitious reboot of the franchise featuring multiple projects, including Silent Hill f and a brand-new movie.

Pretty cool to have a free shadowdropped game.

I'll check it out, seemed interesting enough.

Seems like konami is actually serious about silent hill for once.

The new silent hill games look just like the new resident evil games lol. 7, 8, and the remakes. after skipping the ps4/xbox one era, i think that these will be a little better than what we got during the ps3/wii/360 era.

It's free what have you got to lose?

Konami seems to just be licensing the SH brand to random low budget horror drivel. What the hell does this or that ridiculous interactive-whatever shitshow even have to do with SH?

And the "flagship" of their brand reboot is an SH2 reboot that looks like a janky TPS fan mod from 10 years ago. Bravo.

Someone please make it stop. I am trying to get through this to the end but it might be one of the worst things I have ever “played”.

Silent Hill should always be done with the subtlety and misdirection that makes one think that you “might” be inside the protagonist’s mind. In SH2 there is a distortion of reality, not a complete internal nightmare, which is what this game is trying to portray. If it becomes obvious that everything you see is inside the protagonist’s mind, you already know how to interpret everything, and it just feels super cliche and spoonfed.

Have you played it?
Cost I've been playing for a good two hours now and only now I get it.
It's definitely a Silent Hill in a PT style, more so than PT was.
Did you find it..

So far this doesn't feel much different from the million walking simulators littering the Steam Store right now. Will keep going though, maybe it gets better later on.

It’s interesting and then it feels like your eyes need to be ripped out of their sockets. I see where they’re going with it. I don’t think I will replay this. PT was short and to the point for the most part. This is just walking door to door, reading, running, all while the story unfolds.

I think I am near the end, at least I hope so. It feels like it’s overstayed it’s welcome. How much more can we discuss this?

This.

I've played 1 hour and this game and its "message" are as subtle as a ton of bricks hitting you on the head at the same time.

We get it, "depression bad !", "social media bad !", "bullying bad ! ", "adults are assholes and don't understand me ! ", "socioeconomic troubles bring psychological problems also !!!" etc etc...Couple all of that with one of the worst, most irritating main characters in gaming and...

First impressions were actually good (graphics, atmosphere,.music etc) but, it took only 15 minutes to see where all of this is going and, I'm sorry to say that this thing is pretty much insufferable.

Fooking Konami man, what the hell have they done to this franchise...

It feels like I’m almost at my 2nd
I am about to open my locker after I found volume 2 was missing in the library. I took a small break.

Yeah you're not done 😂
But you'll have your

"It is a Silent Hill game" moment soon enough, whether that's enough for you to push forward is another thing.
I mean my first impressions was
Game looks good, but it just weird so far
and
I'm intrigued, I give it that
And I may or may not be miss interpreting but, Bullying, Suicide & Lesbians!
but now I get it where it's going and it's not that.
Just like all Silent Hills, it's keeping her there and not for the reasons the Giallo believes

I mean they are the underlying themes in it but....

I think the biggest problem is they model it after PT, I mean this is literally PT in a different location and a lot more too it
but PT was very limited on purpose.
And while short this isn't just a demo so I don't think it translates well into a bigger game without feeling like a PT clone that we've all seen before even though that's not what this is
This Konami's internal team experimenting as they haven't made game in a long time hence why it's free.
There words not mine.
And I'm interested in what they may produce next internally.

So without specifying, does the game clarify how this is tied to the town of Silent Hill, which resides in an unspecified spot in the US, but this game is not (I heard someone say Germany, but I could be mistaken)?

I remember being also confused that one of the upcoming SH games, Silent Hill F, is set in Japan, and was going to write it off, but then the head writer is the guy who wrote the Higurashi visual novels, and I loved the anime of that series, a bit over the top in its violence but could also have some great ambience. So my interest was renewed. But I do hope there’s a reasonable explanation how these games tie to Silent Hill despite being set elsewhere.

There is, whether you'll like it is another thing.
But it not the first time an event has happened outside Silent Hill as The Room was set in Ashfield.
Oh and there's some lore surrounding the fog as key point.

What time is it?
Old Man Murray used to have a time to crate or barrel when describing games. For horror games, I'm sure it would be time to creepy doll and this game gets that out of the way quickly...geez.

My thoughts too.

As an experience it's fine for me. I was actually playing it through the PSVR2 headset on the virtual screen. It's definitely spooky at times and I like the visuals, etc.

But good grief, it's so freaking ham fisted with the story. It's just run-of-the-mill grief porn, the kind of stuff I give my wife shit for watching. "Really?? The Sony Bravia deserves better than this... :messenger_grinning_sweat: " So far everything is telegraphed big time so you know where the story is heading and when something spooky will happen.

I'm in the 3rd section but calling it a night, would rather get a good nights rest than try to finish it in one go. I'll probably get back to it tomorrow.

I'm on chapter 2, as a Konami game my impressions are good, Anita as a character has a good design. The Silent Hill Mobil game the characters were generic and uninteresting, at least Anita is interesting and her design is that of a cute girl.

I just started but the performance while playing on my LG C2 is fucking with my mind and making me sick literally. All the the blurring, the lagging/input lag. I may have to move my PS5 to my other tv to play it. Odd also not having any trophies for anything not considered a demo lol.
