Here's a post I made a while back after Australian pricing was released. Seems to have held up well...gcubed said:how much are the mics? Trying to get a guesstimate of what htey will cost once they hit the US in 3 years.

Assuming similar pricing plans worldwide (cost of solo game + 33%), here's what approximate prices we are looking at...
AU: $80
UK: £30-35
US: $50-55

They're great and totally worth the money.
The best thing about them is the freedom that they give you when you sing - there's no need to constantly keep on looking out for the microphone cables anymore and as a result you've got a LOT more freedom of movement for "performance". I've found that this alone is giving me higher scores than before in the game.
For those who were wondering, yes it comes with a little dongle box which is slightly larger than the one that the wired mics plug into, except this time it's more of a minature "stand" that you plug in and sit in front of your PS3.
You also get a set of 4 AA batteries (two of which go in each mic) and a little white nylon bag to keep the mics in (a bit like the bag that comes with the Buzz wireless buzzers).
The mics feel pretty good in your hand and weigh a little bit more than the wired ones, but at the same time they aren't as weighty as "proper" mics that you'd use at a karaoke box.
The power switch on the mics has also got a "hold" option so you can stop the mics from being turned off (or indeed on) accidentally which will be useful when you've got drunk friends around.
In terms of game compatibility, they work fine with both Rock Band games - you just need to turn the mic sensitivity up a little bit from the default settings in the options menu but not too much or you get glitches on the audio and distortion. Not got GHWT but I imagine they will work fine with it as well if they work with RB.
For those wondering how they shape up vs the Lips mics, I can't say for sure I'm afraid. I've not played the game but they felt fairly similar to the new Singstar ones when I got to look at them at Xmas (the only real difference is that the Singstar ones may be slightly longer as the transmitter is in the base of the mics).
Overall - I'm very impressed and they should be a definite purchase for anyone who plays Singstar or any other PS3 music game on a regular basis.

(The downside is that SSOI will be a premium service as of June 1 2009. And the website is a hideous purple colour.)
Either because they are working on bring the music to the SingStore as DLC by then (figuring they should do it because SingStar just doesn't have a whole lot of popularity here, but then again they never really gave the series much marketing), or they don't feel there isn't a demand for a PS3 version. SCEA is a bit tricky/weird when it comes to publishing.gcubed said:it really is... spring/summer time is party time, i can't pass up having those songs at my disposal.
Is there any reason why SCEA is also refusing to bring over the ps3 version of Queen?
The website is (quote unquote) "not endorsed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe or SCEE London Studios".agm2502 said:Is this in anyway official though? can't see it lasting that long if it isn't endorsed by the Singstar devs.
Tntnnbltn said:The website is (quote unquote) "not endorsed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe or SCEE London Studios".
That being said, to access the SSOI services you have to sign agree to the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement, the SingStar Supplemental Terms, go through a bunch of disclaimers, and your PSN account has to be verified with your full name, DOB, and address. And on top of that, they have direct access to material from the SingStar Online servers. I'm pretty sure it's legit. ;-)
It's really the kind of thing they should have been doing via the official website all along. Since launch there was a void in terms of (official) internet community for SingStar. It's taken a third party to finally get this happening.
Yeah, I saw that in the FAQ. I posted a question to the owner asking for clarification of what was involved. This is all very interesting to me.agm2502 said:"Is SSOI approved or endorsed by Sony or London Studios?
No. Sony and London Studios do not have any involvement in the provision of My SingStar Online Integrated Services on SingstarChallenge, however the service provided is entirely legal under Norwegian law."
gcubed said:it really is... spring/summer time is party time, i can't pass up having those songs at my disposal.

Looks like I was mistaken. No involvement from Sony whatsoever in setting it up.Tntnnbltn said:I posted a question to the owner asking for clarification of what was involved.
PSN verification is done simply by automatically searching for your PSN ID on SingStar Scene to see if it exists. If we are told legally that someone has fraudulently registered the ID on SSC, we will pull the name and address information out of the database.
Access to the servers is not possible in a conventional manner however someone with enough skill can do it without breaking the EULA terms. The PSN EULA criteria is that no code or equipment must be reverse-engineered, which we haven't done. The SingStar Terms of Use state explicitly that users may re-distribute material to other users and publish it. So we have made a best effort to stay within these terms to keep Sony happy, however as mentioned in the FAQ, these EULAs are likely worthless in Norway where the site is based anyway.

No mistake. They announced that they had cleared all Queen tracks for release as singles, including songs which were previously only available as parts of song packs. This week, they're releasing the 10 songs from previous song packs. Hopefully the remaining 10 songs will follow in the next update.SiegfriedFM said:That can't be right. All of those Queen songs are those previously available in song packs. Wasn't the point to actually release the songs that were only on the disc, to that people with the 15 downloaded songs could complete the 25 tracks from the disc?
