Skyrim Switch Trailer (Link amiibo support)

so its safe to assume this wont be receiving mod support (if its even as bad as the ps4 version)?
because if they confirm mod support (like xbo) for this game i'd buy it again at full price.

Back in January it was rumored to have mod support like the PS4 did, but that same rumor also said it would be out around launch. So it seems there's no word at the moment.

There will likely be a lot more details discussed during Nintendo's presentation and Treehouse streams.

Looked absolutely terrible.

Easy Allies guys ripping it to shreds right now

But it looked just like Skyrim? With a few graphics upgrades of the last version they released a while ago. What were they expecting and how can it look terrible?

People actually think that this is Switch footage and the game will run at 60 FPS? LOL

It looks like something Switch could run easily, tbh. Probly not at 60fps tho.

I'm sure this has already been suggested but maybe it's 60fps docked, 30fps portable? Realistically though it is probably 30 all around.

That was an unbelievably terrible trailer. With the game being revealed as a flagship 3rd party title in January, I would have expected that they would put effort into the marketing.

I know it's not indicative of the actual experience, but they should have done a much better job trying to demonstrate the motion controls. What are we getting here? Twilight Princess style or is this a bigger reworking of the combat system allowing for Skyward Sword style play?

If the latter, I'm interested. The former and I won't touch that control scheme.

Beyond the poor introduction of the motion controls, the inconsistent visuals throw everything about this version's actual performance into question when that aspect is what most people actually care about.

There should have been a greater focus on the traditional controls (probably just should have shown playing with joycon attached). Being able to use the traditional buttons is obvious to us and most others, but for some thinking this is the same Nintendo and philosophy from the Wii focusing on the motion controls only reinforces that negative idea.

Ah, the ol' Nintendo thread confirmation bias effect. Some can't believe it could possibly be running on Switch, others astounded by how terrible it looks.

I don't think anyone believes it will run at 60 fps. Unless it's just my browser, the footage wasn't even running at 60...

the footage at 0:22 was definitely 60fps

The graphics look absolutely fine to me, especially considering that you'll be able to play on the go. The bigger question is: How will it run?

For all the people criticizing motion controls and the Zelda stuff: Why would you complain about something that is entirely optional?

I get that focusing on that so much seems weird from a marketing perspective, but then again this is a 6 year old game that already saw a rerelease. People that watched Bethesdas show already know Skyrim.

The only thing that really kills me is the hair of that character in that video, that's just gross. Come one what is going on there? It's been years since I've seen Skyrim on 360 but come on could they have not improved that?

Those look great, excited to see some more of it tomorrow (probably).

No way the Switch can produce those visuals! And anyway they're so ugly!

Tamriel clearly doesn't have access to quality hair care products. Oily sticky hair adds realism.

Hair is always terrible in Bethesda games. Are those screens 1080p? I'm on mobile.

720p I believe.

Edit: 720p I see, but they are resized and compressed anyway. Where is the direct feed footage!

It would be a shame if the FE amiibo don't have support. :(

No word on mods, correct?

I would be shocked if there was mod support. It's fine though, as if it isn't going to be 100% supported it is better not to have it at all. Plus, I doubt the Switch has the overhead to allow for mods in the same way that X1 and PS4 did.

Still, portable Skyrim will be glorious.

I'm sure it will be fine without it. Honestly, I just want cheats for messing around once I finish it.

Uhm, looks way way better than i thought it would?

More grass!

Outside of obvious resolution and youtube compression, to me it looks better, what sorcery is this?

If it is rendering at 720p that could be freeing up a lot of resources for increased settings and even framerate. Who knows about docked vs undocked though. I suspect we'll hear more during Nintendo's Treehouse streams.

Maybe 720p docked, it's a bit strange there's no release date though I guess during the th spot livestream otherwise it'd be very weird if it missed this year.

Well for one it looks like a different time of day.

Dunno about grass.

Couple thoughts:

-I'm excited that they are giving the option for motion controls. From the video they don't look amazing but I like the choice
-I'm betting the game will look relatively good on the big screen but really shine on the handheld. Hoping they show some footage this week
-Is it all but confirmed that there won't be even light mod support? The link amibo gives me hope of some extra content but I seriously doubt it
-The Holiday 2017 release date is a bit of a bummer. I was really hoping for September-ish as I don't think there is anything big out around then on the Switch

Is the PC picture rendered in 720p as well? Switch trailer looks blurrier obviously, but a lot/most of that is obviously due to youtube compression.

Edit: Also, this doesn't say too much, but one of the tags in the article about Skyrim Switch is Skyrim Special Edition: https://bethesda.net/en/article/28f...tch-be-anyone-do-anything-and-now-go-anywhere

It looks like they made lower res grass textures for the Switch version, ended up with way more headway than they needed, and said fuck it, let's add more grass.

Hard to tell for grass resolution, youtube compression is atrocious, ewwww. But there's more. Most apparent is the bottom center of the screenshots, near the rock.

We'll get on-floor footage wednesday i guess?

I wonder if the grass is actually lower res, since the youtube compression here seems to take the fine detail of the vegetation away. It's a curious thing btw: Snake Pass on Switch also had more vegetation than the PS4 version, despite being inferior graphics-wise just about everywhere else.

Is that vanilla footage or special edition ?(the pc screen)

Oh i should read better🤡
I like the more colourful look.

It looked like Skyrim. Not sure what you were expecting here.

That said I saw the easy allies clip and their reaction makes no damn sense at all. We knew the game was coming. It looks like the remastered/special edition version of Skyrim graphics wise. It likely has changes to it during optimization but we don't see them in the trailer. It's an evergreen title that will likely sell well. Doesn't look compromised at all. Has extra content and additional motion controls that are optional. I truly do not understand where the negativity is coming from here.

Did some people want this to look like shit and because it doesn't their only reaction is to be negative for the sake of being negative since there is nothing valid to attack?

Can I just say that I don't understand the hate for the graphics some folks are spewing?

Skyrim is several years old. It's gotten some upgrades, but it's just not going to look like Anthem, and anyone expecting Anthem graphics should go buy Anthem instead.

This is Skyrim (and it's also portable). Treat it for what it is, geez.

I wish that it had options to make it a little less violent. I would love to play this with my wife, but we have small kids and it is a bit too much for them.

What settings on pc though?
Fro those screens the Switch version indeed seem to have more grass and the water is better, but it seems to me it has less geometry(i see more edges).
