Skyrim Switch Trailer (Link amiibo support)

I think the Switch doubling the PS4's frame rate is a much more ludicrous idea.

I think PSVR version will be 60FPS.

Switch (Nintendo) players are probably more used to 60FPS games and PS4 players are more pleased with eyecandy. So it would make sense for developers to prefer 60FPS in a Switch game and lower framerate but more graphical bells & whistles in a PS4 game.

To sort of play off of this, I wish GTA V had a non-violent mode, all it would require is removing the cursing and disallowing punching. You could still run people over but just make them invincible (like running into a poll or something). Kids LOVE open world games, wouldn't be too hard to let them run around and do non violent stuff...

Lego city undercover sounds right up that alley if you've not got it yet.

Having never played Skyrim before and seeing this but also Skyrim VR, I dont know what to do! Which version should I first experience this?!?!@?! Is Skyrim VR the whole game in VR with no cutbacks in content??

The VR trailer for Skyrim has me much more interested in the motion controls.

It would be pretty foolish of them to go through the trouble of creating the animations and systems necessary to support the 1:1 motion of the PSMove and not translate that to the Switch motion control experience.

1:1 motion control makes this a much better proposition and gives me a reason to play in docked mode.

How is joycon going to be able to mimick 1:1 motion control? Its not possible.

As a Switch and PSVR owner I don't know which one to pick up. Never going to happen but cross save would be super. Even PSVR/PS4.

The more I think about it, the more the "Zelda" focus in the trailer is starting to make sense to me.

Think about it: One target audience segment - those who want to play Skyrim on the go - have already played the game, they already know it.

But that target audience is most likely too niche to really make Skyrim on Switch a success. So how do they discover new audiences?

Well by creating a link (ho ho!) to Breath of the Wild which just released to great critically acclaimed game. If this manages to somehow convince all the millions of Switch owners that bought Breath of the Wild to even consider buying Skyrim, this could be a great strategy actually.

I don't look back on Skyrim as fondly as some other games from that period but the idea of having a portable version of the game is appealing to me.

Yes, I own a GPD Win and know it's capable of playing Skyrim.

Can't watch the video now, is there a written preview too? Can't find it on their site for some reason.

Some points from the new trailer:

- Game looks good they say, performance was smooth (but they didn't try stacking 100 wheels of cheese, so not a very useful comment sadly).

- Motion controls work. They're pretty basic, but do feel accurate.

- Don't use the DNV toilets.

That's all they say, nothing too interesting. There is some off-screen footage, and it looks like Skyrim (can't say anything beyond that as it's off-screen and there's not too much footage either).

I can't watch it right now, visually does it have the enhancements of Special Edition ? Aka more grass, better lighting etc.

So it's Skyrim+DLC with optional motion controls, on a portable device?

Yes please.

One question just came to my mind. Will Nintendo make Bethesda disable the beheading animation with the Master Sword?

Why would they do that? It's not like Skyrim is suddenly not a mature rated game because of the Master Sword appearing. The Zelda fans that play this are (supposedly) the adult fanbase, so I don't see a good reason.

Guess I may actually finish Skyrim with it being on a portable now. Seems like they took their time to deliver a solid port. This holiday is going to be packed with games for me.

Wouldn't we know this from the trailer this thread is about? (Haven't followed this thread, just reading the recent update)

It's always better to have confirmation from hands-on than trailers. But yeah, you can see SE enhancements in the trailer.

The trailer the thread is based on is SE Skyrim without a shadow of a doubt. The next question is if that footage is bullshot-type embellishment using a different version is not ruled out fully, though I wonder if they will maintain it for two trailers in a row.

Considering what Bowser's arms and legs were doing in Bayonetta 1 and 2, I doubt anything's getting censored for Skyrim.

Wind Waker link the most cute and charming dude ever puts the master sword in Ganondorfs skull without a single fuck given.

Twilight Princess Link also impales Ganondorf.
And maybe some others i forgot.

Yeah... That E3 trailer has footage from a lot of different versions, some of it is 30fps and the other is 60fps.
Is there 60 fps footage? I remember some 30 fps footage with frame pacing issues, where 3 duplicaten frames were followed by 2 unique frames in a row when viewing the trailer at 60 fps youtube frame rate. Were there actual bits running at full 60 fps?

But a bloody beheading is a little different from a sword going into a head, no blood.

I'm not trying to say it shouldn't be there, just wondering if Nintendo is cool with it. If they are, fantastic. I'd love to see the Master Sword with blood stains on it.

...why wouldn't Nintendo be fine with that? It's not only not their game but they have allowed M-Rated games on their systems for like over two decades. This isn't the 90's anymore, dude :P

I played Skyrim on my weak laptop with low res and graphics and had a blast. It’s tempting to play it again but now with better quality. Looks like a nice port.

They should bring ESO over after this too.
