Sleeping Dogs Early Reviews

No complaints about the combat (hopefully you can turn off the glowing indicators) but the driving physics don't look great.

:) Probably one of those games, like many, where one aspect is going to turn alot of people off from it. But I haven't paid a great deal of attention to the driving sections I will have to rewatch and ask the guys who played it what they thought.

Gamestop TV at work has been playing the hell out of the trailer lately. I guess Square is trying to push it.

I really, really hope it and Darksiders do well though our reserve numbers aren't great for either.

That sucks. Hopefully maybe for this game its because many seem to be rolling with a PC version.

My only qualm - and it is very minor - is that the visual cue for countering (red glow/pulse) is a bit too blatant, unlike the Arkham games' approach with the lightning bolts (?) appearing above the goons' heads. Those bolts were pretty susceptible to getting lost amidst the maelstrom of some of the bigger fights, making them a lot more tense/fun. The in-your-face red glow combined with the Assassin's Creed levels of dumb-foundedness in the enemies makes things look a bit too easy.

Watched the GB preview. Game is looking nice. Driving looks arcadey as hell and the combat looks very jerky, like a bad imitation of Arkham, but those are my only complaints.

For people complaining about the lack of guns... looks like it will have a LOT of gunplay in some parts!

Can't wait. I thought this was gonna release the first week of August, but I just saw the 18/08. Damn...

Anyway, this and Persona 4 will keep me busy until Halo 4 and Black Ops II.

The boxed version of Sleeping Dogs will be £19.99 on PC at GreenManGaming for 24 hours from midday tomorrow (GMT). Boxed console versions will be £29.99 too, I think. Delivery may be UK-only.

Wow, the more I watch this game the more I'm interested. Seems like something me and my buds would enjoy. Wasn't too big on True Crime, the first was barely decent, the second was a terrible mess with no QA. Getting ditched by Activision might have been the best thing that could happen.

So freaking excited for this. Glad the reviews are good. Makes that day 1 purchase for me feel a little less bad. I hardly ever buy games day 1 or even months after their out but the True Crime franchise was one of my favorites and this looks like it stays true to some of the elements from those games.

Preordered the PC version on GMG. Hopefully I won't regret it...

Have there been any reviews or other impressions of that version?

Any idea on if the Steam version will also offer the GSP pack? Or is that console/Gamestop related? This game is looking more and more magnificent. I'm really hoping PC footage shows up soon, and it runs wonderfully!

Greenman Gaming price reductions are live - £19.99 for the boxed PC version, £29.99 for the console versions.

Went to get the 360 version but realised they charge for 1st class delivery. Already got it preordered from Tesco Entertainment for £31 and that's for the Limited Edition - no word on whether GMG are stocking the LE. You'll have to let us know how they are for preorder delivery.

considering the type of game, critical reception and how nice the game is looking, overall buzz for it just seems kinda low....

hope it gets the sales it deserves.

I swear this game came out of no where. I only heard about two weeks ago or so. Maybe I was confusing it with Watch_Dogs.
