For real.

I was also very happy in seeing such a cool stage. More of this, less of pokefloats please! Icicle Mountain for example was just a total waste of developer time. I'm glad to see they've been moving in a different direction (so far) this time.

To respond in advance, no I don't totally despise pokefloats. It's not that bad, though I like rainbow cruise a little more. I just think that we get much, much higher returns on entertainment:dev time spent with stages like yoshi's story and final destination.

Poke Floats was an annoying stage, and it was usually switched off. The same goes for the Icicle Mountain, Flatzone ( which, despite being flat, was just WAY too small ) and Fourside. Hopefully there will be none of such mediocre quality in Brawl.

I liked Pokefloats, and hope they'll include at least two moving stages again, but the Icicle mountain was just bad designed, especially considering how it was such a bad stage for the Ice Climbers, even though it was supposed to be theirs...

We need a new Pokefloats with different Pokemon. Oh and it needs the champion music from D/P :D

Wait, so can you run all the way back and forth across the bridge ?

Looks like it'll be Final Destination with some tricks. It probably spans the entire map like Mushroom Kingdom so spiking is no go. (Unless you wait for the bridge to collapse)

The actual Champion Battle music or the song when it's revealed that the Champion is
Shirona/Cynthia
? Because the latter is one of the best Pokemon songs of all time and would rule as a Smash Bros song to fight to. :D

Pokefloats felt like a rushed together stage. I'd like to see something somewhat less iconic.

The mountaintop where you fought Dialga/Palkia, for example, with the crazy music and pulsating sky.

If so, one of the best stages CONFIRMED. I am partial to flat maps for some reason.

Yeah I'd really like to see a Pokemon stage that has reference to the actual game (Like in Smash 64) and some songs that aren't battle themes. Pokemon has some pretty cool music and coincidentally (in my opinion) the worst composed and most repetitive songs are the battle songs.

The latter is very good (reminds me a bit of castlevania :-S) but I don't think it's cut to be a Super Smash Bros. stage song.

Not feelin this stage. Hope time of day can change. I hate sun set feels
This is something I can definitely agree with. I think the lighting is a serious detriment to the DK64 stage from melee. The stage's layout is unique and really great. It's one of the few stages where you can come up through the bottom. It's really hurt by the randomness of the barrel as it combines with the movement of the camera, and the lighting which makes it difficult to see things sometimes.

I love the SS Anne music, especilly the remix which comes up in the museum in Ruby/Saphirre.

Tru dat. That song was actually the only song where when replaying Red/Blue (in the form of LeafGreen) I said to myself "I don't remember the second part of this song being this awesome". My favorite Pokemon song of all time though is "National Park" from Gold/Silver.

This thread is now about people's opinions of Pokemon music!!!

I kid! Don't kill me!

There was a really awesome tune from Ruby/Sapphire, I think it was the gym battle music, i dunno, but it was great stuff. Or the Rayquaza (sp?) music.

How many Final Destinations/Yoshi's Story do you need? FD is as flat as it gets. Would you prefer that they make other FD's of various sizes?

10 worst stages in Melee

1 Past Stages Yoshi’s Story:
2 Icicle Mountain:
3 Venom:
4 Big Blue:
5 Temple:
6 Mushroom Kingdom I:
7 Four Side:
8 Brinstar Depths:
9 PokeFloats:
10 Flat Zone:

"So what does this mean for Brawl? Hopefully Brawl with have the same ratio of good to bad stages in the game. Why? There’s nothing like a bad stage to teach you what’s good about the good ones. And beyond that, where else are you going to get a playing experience like Temple if there isn’t a Temple? Even if these stages can’t be played seriously, they’re still extremely interesting and a lot of fun in certain situations. Brawl needs all kinds of stages and items because it’s a game that appeals to all kinds of people. If we all had an attitude like this, we could set the stage for Brawl right."

Was it the one that starts off with like the bell sounds gonging? Because that was the Rayquaza/Groudon/Kyogre battle song, and I agree was pretty damn cool. Personally.. I'm still holding out for an awesome arcade-like Smash 1player mode with big bosses from all the different games. Would be cool to gang-up on a giant Legendary Pokemon to that song.

Sorry to be a pain but the first post needs a bit of an update.
Ok, got the update section up to date, the other sections will be soon updated too.

Thing is I haven't had time to update daily and when I'm on Gaf I would rather see whats up in other places instead of spendin all my time updating the OP you know. I'll try to do it daily though from now on. Just don't expect to see the character, stages, and ect sections updated daily.

Just place a link to smashbros.com and a disclaimer noting that it's updated weekdaily

Problem solved.

The giant image is a link to the official site :D

But yeah I added a notice about it not being updated everyday.

I dont know if I just had a really good or really really bad idea, but for some reason I think a box stage where only at the bottom corners are there openings to smash people through, so other wise theyll just bounce off the walls all over till you get them in one of those holes.

Or a different idea, a complete box with destructable walls/ceiling that take a lot to break through. Id really like to see some new stage ideas other than just cool locations. Real specialty stages that bring something new to the brawl.

Nah that's cool, it's just that it's such a sweet OP than it deserves continual love.

Tell them explicitly to click on the image, and just put a hard link, I don't go around mousing over forum pictures to see if they're links or not.

Yes! YeS! YES! YES!

Twilight Princess level!!!!!!! This has got to have the 'remixed' Hyrule / TP Theme track I've been longing for!! Pleeeease, I'ma be soooooo happy if it does have it! :D

Woo 800 posts go me!

Am I the only one who misses some of the N64 level design? It'd be nice to see them throw in some of the older concepts (mid-air bumpers) and the like.

Same here - it would be pretty cool if they brought a few of those stages back w/ updated graphics. Especially the 2 you posted.

Perfect idea for a stage! See, this is the type of video game location that I will always remember; it's something with a great tonal quality that hits you with awe the first time you see it, defines the game in some way, and really sticks with you. I hope this is a trend for Brawl's stages.

What a great week. This game has shot up my most wanted list faster than goose shit through a tin horn.

Could be funny. It would make some kind of weird fights where you're still standing by at 999% and bounce 15 times everytime someone punches you.

And about destructible stages, I've always wanted to see that in smash. I mean, only destructible when struck with one of your opponents of course :D
Don't know if it's a good idea though;

Yeah I really hope they have some stages like that. I also just realized that Smash Bros would be a great game to have a Stage Editor/Creator, especially on the Wii since it could be basically point & click or drag and drop kind of stuff. Just have a choice of 5 or so stage sizes/types, an array of destructible, passable and impassable platforms, different objects and landmarks, bumpers, moving platforms etc.

I mean SSB has always been about collectibles so this could add to it, with new pieces and special objects that could be unlocked and used for stage design. And then just rip the Elebits sharing of Stages and youve got a new feature that kicks major ass. Heck I bet you could even save a stage or two on the Wii-mote and bring it to a friends house if they didnt have wifi or something. Thoughts, queries, objections?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let this level have the hyrule field theme from TP. One of the actual few good tracks in the game. And that combined with the exponentially better quality of synths would create friggin euphoria!

How will we manage a two-day period without updates?!!?

Anyway, the level-editor -idea sounds way too good to ever happen. It would be bloody awesome... No, it would be frickin' miraculous!

Good idea man. I love the Hyrule field theme.

Really though, I want a damn Wind Waker stage. Either the top of Ganon's Tower, Outset Island (on the tops of the cliffs), or the Forsaken Fortress would be incredible.

Thats one of the best zelda stages they could have made. It would be really good if the time of day changes, but if it doesnt, they should stick with sunset because it looks so damn good.

Bridge of Eldin is going to be awesome. Cameos by the boss of that area, and Twilight teleportation are just icing on the cake!
