Little Mac actually seems to be a more detailed character than the model for Pokemon Trainer. Why does PT have such little detail compared to the other characters? Yes, he does carry around three fully-detailed Pokemon, but with the apparently lower polygon count he seems out of place.
The trainer is going to be in the background.

Could be they're going for the same aesthetic they went for in Pearl & Diamond, i.e. old school charm.

Lame. Assist trophy/pokemon updates should always come with at least one additional update, like yesterday's :L.
They don't always have to.

The ones that were already revealed in the demo should, though.

Somehow Pokemon Trainer deserves a character, and Little Mac, an icon of the NES library doesn't.

Bull.

This angers me greatly.
Well I like Pokemon Trainer, but I do agree Little Mac should have been playable. The rest of the newcomers better be really really cool, to have been selected over Little Mac! :D

-This is the 108th update day.

-This is the 10th assist trophy if you count Lakitu. That means we've gotten as many assist trophy updates (including "What is an assist trophy?") as normal item updates (including "Crates and Barrels").

-So far this week has had a stage, a game mode, a Poke Ball, a Smash 101 update, and an assist trophy. No character profile, character movie, final smash, special moves, normal item, story mode, or music updates.

-Our six least recent update types are item (September 17th), story mode (October 5th), a tie between final smash and music (October 9th), and a tie between character profile and character movie (October 10th). Note: Only Snake and Sonic have had what I'm calling "character movies." Pit's Descent was a story mode update.

-Our five least recently-updated franchises are still F-Zero (July 2nd), Zelda (August 20th), Yoshi (August 23rd), Kid Icarus (September 3rd), and Fire Emblem (September 11th, cue Zeed). This actually hasn't changed much for a while, but I think it's been a reasonably long time since I last brought this up, so... here it is.

the awesome revival character to back on now is Mike Jones.

I'm thinking that character movies might be third-party only. This seems to be the precedent so far, at least.

And item is the least recent update type. >_> Hopefully Sakurai will either pair the inevitable item with something interesting or just use a mind-blowingly cool item for the update.

Wow, I can't believe we haven't had a Fire Emblem update since Zeed's day of despair. I also find it rather curious how rarely Zelda seems to get updated, since it's one of the biggest franchises in this game.

The portents are looking good for the Captain.

Now, that's just hoping beyond hope.

which is why it would be so awesome if he was in as either playable or assist.

althought, I would imagine not many people know about him, StarTropics gets so little love for a series that was so awesome.

Dojo updates are apparently planned weeks in advance in accordance with the Treehouse interview someone posted earlier in this thread. Considering that and that Sakurai and/or whoever is responsible for posting updates to the Dojo have no control over what random elements people may encounter in the demo (like which assist trophies may appear), we are going to have to endure updates about stuff we learned last week. At least we got to see Mac now. We only knew he was in second hand as he wasn't in any of the videos posted online. He looks like he would have made a fine playable character. Oh well.

Awesome. tomorrow's update is starting to look pretty good, assuming that there are no repeats of course. :D

I would say that it makes a great deal of sense for there to be a trifecta of third party characters.

Not 2, not 4, 3.

But which one? I have no idea.

It's great to finally see what Little Mac looks like in Brawl. I'm glad he's in 3-D. I really like the sprite based AT, but it's cool to see some classic characters get the 3-D makeover too.

Samurai Goroh, Lyn and Little Mac could have been three perfect "fighters" for this game, but they chose to leave them as Assist trophies.

Hopefully this means they have some good ideas under their sleeves!

Now what we need is another assist trophy of Doc running someone over with his bicycle.

The kids from the YTMND community actually spammed the Japanese Dojo site with requests of that because of the infamous internet meme Doc Louis has become.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him as an assist trophy.

Come on Sakurai, show him the love he deserves :lol

Paperboy would be an awesome assist trophy, is he a Nintendo property?

No but if the next in the series for the next console includes more 3rd party stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if did become an assist trophy.
