Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread: Goodbye, Cherry-don

Nice! I wish the stage was a little larger, but it looks pretty cool.

Oh, btw, here is a stat that I don't think I've heard Jiggy mention (love ya Jiggs!):

We've never EVER in the history of the Dojo had a week of updates without at least one character-related update. (This includes character profiles, final smashes, or special moves)

Soooo... character-related update tomorrow, doods! (Since we haven't had one yet this week) Will it be... a profile? Or perhaps one of the remaining final smashes? (ZSS, Sonic, Snake, Zelda)... or perhaps Zelda's special moves/Sheik reveal?

We'll see!

I kind of wonder in the back of my mind if Sakurai didn't just show us this stage to bring stages ahead of How to Play in the rankings...

Finally, the Mario Kart stage.

This is more interesting because it's the first time that one franchise has gotten two stage updates to its name. (Zelda kind of sort of aside.) And we haven't even gotten one stage for each series yet...

For a moment there I thought you guys were going crazy with your claims of this being the second Mario Kart stage, then I realized that by "franchise" you meant simply Mario.

This stage is okay. Karts look like they'll be kind of annoying but eh. Good update in any case, off to bed!

So, Jiggy, is this a cue for you to produce your rankings for stage updates? >_>
Yep.

Stages:
PictoChat > WarioWare > Battleship Halberd > Delfino Plaza > Lylat Cruise > New Pork City > Castle Siege > Smashville > Mario Circuit > Shadow Moses Island > Pokemon Stadium 2 > Bridge of Eldin > The Summit > Rumble Falls > Yoshi's Island > Skyworld > Norfair > Hyrule Temple > Battlefield

Also, I have good news for you.

Crushed is 2 for 4 on characters he hates making it into Brawl. If the Hayter interview is taken as confirmation of Jigglypuff, then he's 3 for 4 and maybe it would be safe to say that Sakurai is out to get him, and will include Ness for sure.

I wonder if the wiped out Shy Guys have rubber band AI

It could get really chaotic if they don't. A horde of them periodically isn't so bad. One or two cruising along the top and/or bottom every few seconds is a recipe for madness.

I do like that when the Karts come from the back, you see them clearly, and can prepare, but when they come from the side, it's much more sudden. Of course, keeping your eyes on the map will definintely help, but something tells me that won't always be an option.

Considering your seeming disdain for Sunshine-related Mario aspects, I'm surprised you rank Delfino Plaza so high. The rest makes sense.
I bet you can't guess what my favourite stage is.

I like how Crushed's hatred is our salvation.

Definately different from Mute City, since you actually stay in one place, but you are in a spot where the Karts cross twice.

And you can get a hint of where the karts are, so maybe there's no randomness factor?
Looking forward to playing on this stage. I bet if you wait long enough, the karts will be spaced out more evenly, with some karts half a lap ahead of the others... :D
(That is, unless Sakurai thought to include
Mario Kart rubberbanding
.)

Not a bad thread title, but I would have set it as:

Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread: There are even grandstands in places you can’t see!

Know what would be awesome? If Sakurai implemented DS connectivity so you could race on the stage on your DS while 3 other people fight. (or two, or 1, etc) to give you the fun of ramming people.

Great thread title, considering like the first 4 replies after the update were all variations, mine included, of "Finally, Mario Kart stage :lol "

Was this the last item from the original trailer to be officially announced?

:lol (I bet you can see them in an ANGLED Brawl, though.)

Whoa, good catch. :o I'll go with Zelda's final smash for tomorrow.

The odd thing is, I'm almost completely a no-items sort of person, but I'll play just about any stage available.

And I don't hate most Sunshine-related stuff. >_> The blue coins suck and the Delfino Plaza music is one of the worst things Nintendo has ever done, but other than that I still think it's a pretty rock solid game, almost as good as 3D platforming could possibly get.

Edit: Anyway, for Brawl I think the Plaza is a pretty great level since I was really fond of Mute City. Actually, I like changing stages in general, which is why PictoChat, WarioWare, Battleship Halberd, and Castle Siege are all fairly high on my list. I might have underrated The Summit a bit, come to think of it.

Edit 2: Nope, didn't underrate The Summit. I checked and I remember what I don't like: that thick part that creates both a mini-cave and a barrier between the left and right platforms. :(

Finally, an update I can bring myself to care about! The stage looks okay, but I kind of wish the stage itself moved. I guess there are enough stages like that though.

Still yawn for me since we KNEW their was a Mario Kart stage already so it wasn't exactly a suprise now that we finally have more detail on it. It's still better then the last couple things we've had this week but only becuse of how bad the week has been so far.

I wonder how many more stages they will unvail before the game comes out. At this point isn't the number of stages on the site even?

Heh, I just got the vibe from your posts that you didn't like Sunshine. :D I liked it, though I prefer both Super Mario 64 and Galaxy over it, secret stages in Sunshine notwithstanding. Also, the Delfino Plaza music is annoying, and it's even worse considering they shoehorned it into Super Mario 64 DS.

I'll play pretty much any stage, too. Except for maybe Icicle Mountain, which was a Mount Everest-sized pile of failure. I didn't much care for Flat Zone either, except for its music.

I think this'll be a very fun stage to play. The crossing of the 8 making the karts a hazard below and above is so simple, but brilliant!

Hah, you see the Shy Guys' location on the board. Awesome.

In this UltraNeko interview, when asked which Brawl character he wanted to beat up, David Hayter mentioned Jigglypuff. Still, since she's the traditional first unlockable, we probably wouldn't see a Dojo update to that effect until after the Japan launch.
(The question and answer are at 2:51, but the whole interview is worth watching.)

Also, did the Shy Guys used to be sprites in the trailer they were revealed or am I misremembering?

Edit: Checked, they're models. Guess I got it confused with the Yoshi's Island part.

Ohhh, the Landmaster can have a special entrance on this stage: it steamrolls past the carts and does a skid to come to a stop.

EDIT: great eye ShockingAlberto & RagnarokX.

ZSS, Sonic, Snake, and Zelda. We already know the first two from E for All, but they don't have Dojo updates.

Dammit, then Sakurai has more fodder to feed us. I'll cross my fingers for Snake's FS tomorrow.

I wish they would have used characters that weren't in the battle instead of Shy Guys. I hope in the new Mario Kart they have the stage with Brawl fighters going at it.
