So Chipotle is pretty damn good...

Why don't you guys go to a taco truck instead?

They are usually much cheaper, faster to deliver the order (more than a "fast-food" place), with non-processed food, and tastier.

I eat at taco trucks, and I also eat at Chipotle. They're totally different things. Chipotle doesn't have processed food, though.

Honestly, the food is so bad sometimes that it becomes inferior to standard fast food. And if I'm looking to spend $8 on a decent, fast casual meal, I'll go to Smashburger and get an actually freshly cooked burger and fries.

Sounds like your Chipotle is just poorly run, or you have incredibly high standards.

Dude... their meat is the same as the one from McDonalds. Literally. It only has different shape.

Don't believe me? Google it.

The company is called OSI.

Chipotle is bland. Blander than Kenny G. playing smooth jazz at a khaki convention.

If you like it because it's "real food" then say so. But don't try to con people into thinking it actually taste good.

I eat it 3-4 times a week since my office is right by one of them. I normally get chicken and steak mixed with some guac in there. Pretty damn good indeed

They have two joints in Toronto, and it's pretty damn good. So far, I've gotten chicken burrito with pinto beans and brown rice. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Absolutely love chipotle. Here are two ways I order.

burrito, white rice, pinto beans, half chicken / half steak, green and red sauce, sour cream and cheese. When im feeling brave, i get guac on the side. (i use a spoon to scoop the guac on the burrito for each bite so it's always evenly delicious with ingredients lol)

Second way is to just get it in a bowl, but with a tortilla on the side(no extra cost). No need for guac on the side here, just add that deliciousness in!

Enjoy! haha...damn i'm having withdrawals now.

Yeah, it's pretty good but not like what I makes for myself! :-P

I'm spoiled in that I have so many carniceras (meat markets) where I live, also Mexican grocery stores that make fresh Bolillos, Tortillas, etc.

I haven't tried cloning anything from Chipotle at home though, I might give it a shot.

Different qualities of meat come from the same place. The same meat suppliers will have different tiers of cost/quality for what they offer. They don't simply sell the same thing to everyone

Indeed. All meat comes from an animal. In this case, the animals go to the same place to be processed, but the quality of meat is what is different.

Chipotle is absolutely terrible. If you have a real Mexican restaurant nearby and you go to chipotle, you are doing it wrong. They can't even get the chips right. They are super salty.

Chipotle is just a place for people who are uncomfortable in real Mexican restaurants.

Oh shit guys, the jig is up! We've been found out!

Pretty much everything there is good, so try anything. I do a bowl and some chips, get that guac on there, and have a mean taco dip for dinner... Shit's great. Don't eat it too often but it's so good.

Just STFU and accept that what Chiptole, Qdoba, Annie's, California Burrito, Moe's, and all of those other places are selling is not 'authentic Mexican food,' and that some people.. actually.. millions of people, really like restaurants like Chipotle, even though you don't like them because it's not "real Mexican." I love authentic Mexican restaurants, they're great, but it's not like Chipotle is trying to be your authentic-someone's-kitchen Mexican restaurant, they're not. They're making food that people like, and authentic Mexican food is something that people like, but they aren't trying to be the same thing. You don't have to be a food douche.

Mom's kitchen >>>>>>> Mexican Restuarant >>>> everything else.

I think chipotle is good for what it is, the chips do seem a bit off but I like them. I kinda See places like that as a once in a while thing cos I would get burned out after a while.

The problem with mcdonalds is not the meat but the fact that they process it into pink goo then shape it into patties and nuggets. Chipotle doesn't do that.

Ask for a little more of everything except meat (e.g. "double cheese" or "could I just get a bit more cheese"). Usually they'll give you twice as much of stuff without thinking about it. Also when getting meat, ask for something like "half chicken, half steak" and they'll give you almost twice as much meat. Get a water cup for soda, and no guacamole.

I actually get charged for double meat about 10% of the time.

Preach man! Every food topic there are some clowns that come in with the "Local Artisan" place around the corner from their house that shits on everyone from a great height. I too love authentic mexican food and I too have this local place that is amazing but Chipotle and the others offer something those don't and that's consistency and locations every-fucking-where.

edit: God Damnit. I knew this would happen when I first started posting in this thread last night. Now it's an unavoidable craving for my standard bowl. This diet tho!

I'm in Toronto as well and I really love Burrito Boyz. I just get a steak or chicken with everything on it.

Burrito Boyz is awesome. Not a fan of Chipotle myself

I would also recommend Burrito Bandidos if you're in Toronto

Believe it or not a lot of people don't live near taco trucks. Chipotle is 10 minutes away, the nearest taco truck is an hour away.

Chipotle is what you make it.

You can easily have an 800-1000 calorie burrito which, for people who do 2 meals a day and who don't suffer from hypertension, is fine. You can easily have a 600-700 calorie burrito bowl if you'd like something smaller.

On the other hand, you can also quite easily get yourself a big ol' burrito with 1400 calories and throw in another 1000 calories with chips and guac, giving you the daily intake requirements for a large male in a single meal.

Uhhh... no.

You seem to be the one unfamiliar or uncomfortable with Mexican restaurants if you think that Chipotle is trying to compete with classic Mexican, or even Tex-Mex.

Do yourself a favor and go to a Mexican restaurant and look at their menu, taste their food, and then come back to us. You've obviously got very limited culinary experience if you think that any restaurant that uses rice and/or a tortilla shell is automatically trying to be classic Mexican.

What's next? You're going to tell us any restaurant that has soy sauce is automatically trying to be classic Japanese?

It was only a matter of time until the food police showed up.

I'm not claiming to be eating real mexican food when I get chipotle. I claim to be eating delicousness in bowl or burrito form. Food police plz.

And sometimes, especially when it's busy, they give me less than double meat even when I ask for it. It's annoying when I ask them to do a bit more, they take the "bit" literally and give me like one piece more

Have you tried the fat man strategy?

People always talk about the theoretical perfect Chipotle, where all of the meat and beans are fresh and still hot and the tortillas haven't been sitting out open for 6 hours. Whenever I eat there, this is not the experience I get. The meats are lukewarm from sitting in the pans for too long, they get chewy and flavorless. The chicken is overcooked and has badly charred edges. The barbacoa has dried out because they drain the tray. The beans have started to congeal together. The tortillas have started to harden around the edges. It's a problem with the format of the restaurant and the realities of their business model. They simply can't have properly fresh prepared food available all the time.

At their best, the food is pretty good. But like Panda Express, I almost never actually get fresh food from them.
idk, I've been to two chipotles in the pittsburgh region frequently, and both of them are consistent. Easily my favorite place for a quick meal.

Qdoba, is fucking terrible

It's excellent and consistent everywhere more or less. Even went to one in London and thought it was solid although they didn't quite do the rice right (it was newly opened).

I usually do local joints here in Austin since they are so prevalent, but Chipotle is definitely worthy of its success. Prefer the seasoning of the meat at Moe's but they don't have any left in Austin nowadays -- I do go every time I am down in Florida where they've stayed popular.

It's decent and available all over so that's good. If I have to choose between a fast food burger place, subway, or a Chipotle then I'm definitely going with Chipotle. If I'm in town though we have food trucks everywhere serving much better stuff.

Chipotle has plenty of flavor.

Chipotle is good, but the flavorings are straight-up mediocre. There's a bit of marinade on the meats and the salsas are nothing special. The rice and the beans are fairly dry and unremarkable. The veggies are nice and fresh and the guac is passable. But I wouldn't say Chipotle is dripping with flavor by any means.

Nah, i would just rather get 4 tacos for the same price at the local taco truck and actually eat real Mexican food

Amen.

It makes my blood boils everything that Chipotle represents. Specially their customers. I always think of the posters here in the forum who love Chipotle as people that do not like to try new things, doesn't travel, likes McDonalds, and never eat at local places.
