I'd argue the Wii U makes a great primary console.

PC + Wii U is the sweet spot.
I've been unexpectedly feeling this way about my PS4. Considering the 4 and xbone are cheap gaming PC's architecturally, the need to own them vs investing that money in a decent desktop has been waning for me.
While I used to (and still sort of do) sneer at Nintendo's luddite tech, they're still providing one of the only unique 'living room gaming' experiences out there.
Thankfully that's not what this thread is based on at all.
If he also plays on a decent PC the wii U can be a valid primary console option. It's my setup :]Lack of 3rd Party games is the main why i would never consider buying a wii u
If i need just one platform ill rather buy a Ps4 or xb1 or pc
Well, that's kind of the most important factor to consider when deciding what to play.
Also, the whole "I guess it's a good system if you're a Nintendo fanboy" nonsense is getting old.
On the contrary, people saying that they have the best exclusive titles and therefore the best lineup are saying exactly that.
2015, they released Splatoon, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World and Xenoblade X as high profile titles
No matter how much you may like those titles, that's all you got, for basically an entire year. How is that such a great year that I want to claim it the best lineup of all consoles? Why do people say things like "it has a ton of great titles"? I'm pretty sure I have every single high profile WiiU title, and I still have more PS4 titles from this year than I do the WiiU's entire lifespan.
Exclude the overlap with the other 2 consoles, they both still offer me more than I want out of the Wii U.
Animal Crossing may change that if it ever happened, but I hope that the next AC will be a handheld game (because that's where AC belongs).
What does that even mean? Like PS and Xbox games aren't designed to be fun?

Yeah Wii U #2. Great exclusives and zero overlap. Ori isn't enough for me to make X #2.
PC + PS4 + Vita is the true trifectar
The price of the console and the games holds me back from getting a wii u. £30 for games over 2 years old smh.

Not for me because it really sometimes ( if not most) is true. The aspect of "loving" nintendo franchise past a casual point is someone who highly identifies with their franchises. I'm very passive with Nintendo because none of their games hit me on an emotional or memorable level that you normally, and most of the time, only see with hardcore nintendo fans. It's not a lie.
You can play a nintendo game and think it's amazing and fun and that's it. But i'm not dedicated to buying everything, playing everything especially on day one, or even watching directs oozing over the latest and greatest. So, i do feel like there is a gap between someone who's hardcore and someone who's very casual with their offerings. I'm the latter and that's why i don't think so.
My taste are different and while the games are fun as they should be...it's just not the second best to me. Basically, i've had fun with more games on 3 different platforms this year and the year before that than I did with one which is Nintendo. That's it. To each their own.

Sure, a few people are saying that but most aren't and that's not what this thread is about. The argument is being made that Wii U is a great secondary console.
That's fine and not unreasonable at all but you implied earlier that the Wii U is really only a good choice for Nintendo loyalists, which essentially says you can only like Wii U if you're a fanboy. And I disagree with that strongly.
Why are some Nintendo fans obsessed with the idea that a Nintendo console can be the best secondary console to people? It's placement is entirely up to you.
As far as how I see it, I'm picking up one soon for Bayonetta and some Nintendo games. Which I'm sure I'll have a fun time with.

By an absolute country mile.
As an owner of a PC buying a PS4 of an Xone seems like a total waste to me. Best platform for both exclusives and multiplats is covered with the PC U combo.
No, apart from Zelda I'm perfectly content with my decision of avoiding it this gen.
PS4 + X1 for me.
Uhh no. Wii U only has a handful of exclusive titles that make the console appealing and the console is already being killed off by Nintendo. I use PS4 as my main and X1 as my secondary. X1 has already has a lot of great exclusives and has many more in the works. To top it off, it has a growing library of BC games, great online infrastructure, great account system, and it has the perfect second console service: EA access. I'd consider the Wii U as a third console if it ever gets to be $99.
