Getting a little old hearing these stories about people running in circles just having absolutely no idea how to handle a godamn situation. Call the cops. Buy a gun. Buy a new phone. If he hasn't given you any money yet hire ANOTHER lawyer.. take him to court again .. If what you are saying is true, here is my serious suggestion.
Ditch your phone, as that is where they are getting their information from.
I had a client not too long ago that had a form of spyware put on her phone. The spyware essentially gave total control of the device to the person who put it on there. They could turn on the mic remotely and listen to conversations, they could use the GPS feature of the phone, they would get sent text messages that you got, and they could even intercept phone calls and quietly listen in. I was made aware of this by a news article actually, and a few months later I had ran into a person that was referred to me with very similar symptoms. Told her to get a new phone, never leave it in someone else's hands, or anywhere that you don't know where it is, and the chances of you having your phone taken control of is lowered, but not nullified.
The majority of these programs are purchased from sites that sell them, so it is most likely just some script kiddie that has some cellphone snooping program. Then again, if the ex b/f is rich and loaded he could potentially hire someone with a little more know how.
Whatever the case is, don't freak out, carry your weapon of choice, and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
It shouldn't have to be said, but get the fucking law enforcement involved. If you post on GAF about this shit asking for advice, I doubt you are Liam's prodigy.

If the crazy stalker had an intention of killing your girlfriends and had means to do it, he would already do it. He is only trying to frighten you, if he wanted you dead, he would do it long ago before leaving an even BIGGER trail behind him. Go to the police and pray that he doesn't have any connections with high ranking security officials. Best of luck.

Uhh... you said the guy paid this amount to avoid having this case go to criminal court.
To be more specific: you can't get rid of potential criminal liability through a settlement in civil court.

If all this is real you basically have two options:
1. The cowards option- Ditch the girl, move away, and change your name.
2. Delaying the inevitable- Move away, bring the girl, change your names, and use the money to buy protection. Get a concealed carry license and don't ever leave the house alone. If you get lucky the douche will eventually get bored and forget about the whole thing. But it's also possible that he'll quietly have you both snuffed when the heat dies off.

That way, the cops will be all like "well fuck, if something does happen to this guy's GF, we'll be up shit creek."
But if they don't do anything and this ends with the guy driving off the Golden Gate bridge after chasing you around in his dark SUV, you get to shop around to have a made-for-TV movie made. It's a win/win.
