So the PlayStation Vita.....

It seems like people forgot about PS Vita, including Sony. Another E3, another wasted opportunity. Very sad to see a good piece of hardware die a slow, painful death.

If Sony had something better to show or announce for the Vita don't you think they would have done it during their conference instead of talking about GOW ports?
That's like saying They have no ps4 gameplay because they showed off that tv crap with redbox

I am actually rather angry right now towards Shahid and his claim of awesome games coming for Vita.

And towards myself for falling into his sales-speak.

Goddamn I am so disappointed right now as a Vita owner... ugh.

I can't blame Shahid, that's his job to hype stuff, even if there is nothing to hype. (And in retrospect, I realize he was likely the one responsible for Epic Mickey 2 hitting the Vita)

OTOH, people who hinted at stuff like that mortimer guy, and GameInformer saying E3 would be big for the Vita. I'm a little ticked at.

But yeah, I was actually expecting stuff. I really feel dumb.

No, with the PS4 Sony had to introduce the hardware and the various features we can expect to come to the console. With the Vita Sony only had to sell us on the games. If there were bigger and better games ready to be shown, they would have shown them during the conference or during the Vita special that was just before the Xbox Conference.

The only way Sony announces something big for the Vita now is if they pull a Nintendo and show something during a press Q and A like Nintendo did with OoT3d or the endless mentions of Pikmin 3 being in development. Otherwise the time to show off Vita games at E3 has passed.

It looks like Sony really doesn't give a shit about this poor thing. They talked like 2 minutes about it at the conference. I guess the "dozens" of games some Sony employee has been teasing consists of a crappy looking f2p game, a God of War collection, dlc for the Walking Dead, some indie games..... and that seems to be about it.

Are you guys still excited about the future of this platform, or do you think its vita (vita means life) is slowly fading away?

I'm excited that there are a ton of them on Craigslist for cheap since people are bailing on it. I got a 3G version in pristine condition with an 8GB memory card and Madden for $120. (also came with that plastic thing that makes it like a controller in your hands as well as a carrying case.)

That's cheaper than a Wii-U replacement controller and the PSV is going to be capable of playing PS4 games in the house remotely just like the Wii-U controller does but not quite so tethered to the system as Wii-U.

And with PS+ pretty much mandatory, I got Uncharted and Wipeout (and others that won't fit on the card but were "purchased for free" just so I don't lose them next month) for free.

It's an incredible value used. Not so much at the new price point. But people are bailing left and right so on Craigslist and Amazon used, you can find them for around $130-160 sometimes bundled with stuff like memory and games.

Supreme value at that price.

I want to pick up a PS Vita really bad...but it still looks like a unworthy investment right now and it looks like it's going to be for the near future... D:

The 3DS had at least a couple of must have non-ported games by now! (a lil over a year in its life) And showed a bunch of must haves that were coming out!!

I've always said I really liked the hardware of the Vita ... but I can't justify picking it up for only Persona 4: The Golden. I'd rather a PS4 TBH.

I feel you!!!

Is everyone forgetting what happened at Gamescom last year? There's still hope that will be the Vita event again this year. If they ignore the Vita there then we're in serious trouble.

Very few of those things were worthwhile or even new features
I'm sure I've seen tweets saying the live streams will showcase new vita games as well

Well, truth be told I do own a 3DS too, so the sting is lessened perhaps, but goddamn if I don't wish for Vita to flourish with games too.

I guess I just have to resign to the fact that Vita is a port machine. Hell, I am not even sure if it can be called that at this juncture.

Ahhh... sorry if I sound so negative here folks. Hopefully we will get something more substantial than that goddamn F2P game in the future.

Guys, watch, they're going to announce Final Fantasy Type O for the Vita and then everyone's going to regret getting rid of theirs.

Well, hopefully they'll do so before the end of the year, because that's when I'll be finished with Ys Celceta and wondering what the hell to do with this glossy black brick sitting on my coffee table. :(

You won't be getting FFX/X-2?

However, after those two I will be wondering exactly the same thing.

Ahhh.... maybe it will just be "a machine to play last gen Final Fantasies" for me then...

I think it's fair to say we're already 'in trouble'.

I had low expectations, and they still fell far short of meeting them. It's time to admit that they just don't give a shit about the Vita.

The thing is still way too expensive. I bought one because i'm crazy, but most people aren't. They gotta drop the price sometime...

I bought two, because the 1st one was broken and it's impossible to have it fixed here where I live.

Plus a 8 GB MC for the 1st one and 32 GB for the 2nd one too.

So yeah >__________>

I'm awaiting the day I can pick one up for super-cheap with Jak HD Collection. Did they even mention Killzone? It was never going to get much screentime with the PS4 coming out this year, but hell they could have announced one big title.

they announced 1 new game (tearaway) and then showcase bunch of titles that we have already know and seen.

There is that new batmanvania game. I will wait to see what is on the floor, last year they had 20-30 games on the floor? But yea more time spent from creepy entertainment guy about TBA television and movies than what they gave to Vita.

Which sucks, because it is a nice little piece of kit.

Did anyone see the trailers for Doki Doki universe, Contrast, and Counterspy? Thought they looked really cool, im surprised Gaf has no intrest in Contrast.

The show is not over yet, it sucks we did not get more stage time for the Vita, but people are already complaining that they did not show enough for the PS4. This years Press event was always going to be about PS4.

What do you mean where are the games? There's The Walking Dead: 400 Days and Arkham Origins: Blackgate. That's two whole games, which is more than I expected. By the end of the year, my Vita game collection will have tripled in size!

<3 my flawed AquaBlue 3DS and I overpaid for it...but yeah, I want the Vita game library to take off....and not just have ports thrown at it. And not half assed efforts from big franchises either!!

You won't be getting FFX/X-2?

Honestly that's the only thing that's tempting me to pick up a PS Vita.......especially since my PS3 laser thingy recently broke and it won't read discs now. Don't wanna skip out on one of my favorite RPGs ever...and their the International versions too!!

And the fact I could play PS1 classcs the best way.

It's obvious that tretton was forced to mention vita but he didn't want to...

I mean there's killzone, tearaway etc, why don't you show some gameplay like ps3 games?!?!?
I just watched the new dragon's crown trailer, damn wtf? Why it was not even mentioned in the conference?

And guess who asked for gow 1&2, dead nation etc ports? No fucking one! It was really that difficult to make gow, dn etc spinoffs? Why sony keeps spending money on many ports no one wanted? just use the same money for one or two new big games that people want!

Scea clearly hate vita, maybe scee and scej care a little more but the most important gaming event and western(american) developers are scea domain...

>:(

But is it good money for retailers is the bigger question(when some can't sell 1 Vita a month) but you seem confident they have some things to show.

Not really, no. But it also doesn't take up much space. There are still PSP sections in gamestop, best buy, target and walmart. They don't get rid of stuff because they don't have to. Shelf space really isn't at a premium in any of those stores, typically.

No one is threatening to stop selling it.

I wouldn't be shocked, however, if the physical software market shrunk by quite a bit.

The handheld this industry deserves, but not the one it needs right now. I'm still waiting for a price drop, but I think at this point the writing is on the wall (at least in the West anyway).

I don't even know anymore. Even the bigger titles they had announced for Vita like Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway just went without any focus at all. New announcements were non-existant. Is Sony trying to sweep Vita under the rug?

coming from you really puts things in perspective. you're like the most positive guy for the vita around here.

they announced 1 new game (tearaway) and then showcase bunch of titles that we have already know and seen.

They also had the first trailer for Killzone. And revealed COD. Yeah COD sucked but the point is there was a focus on the Vita at Gamescom. My point was that just because they didn't focus on Vita at E3 doesn't mean they won't focus on Vita at Gamescom.

Also I'd just like to take this time to say that even if Sony stop supporting the Vita it's already my favourite handheld of all time. I already own more games for my Vita than I've ever had for any other handheld. Also the PS4 remote play stuff is going to be awesome and the Vita continues to get great indie support to regardless of how successful the platform is with the mainstream so I'll certainly still have plenty to play on Vita in the future.

Pretty disappointing, but expected. Vita will hang on in Japan as a PSP replacement, but Sony is better writing it off in NA. Smartphones and tablets have the mobile market sewn up.

Is E3 over or something? Was today basically the only day for Sony to reveal each and every release that is coming?

No, E3 is not over, but typically the biggest announcements are made in the respective press conferences. Ergo, there are no big announcements for the vita.

Is E3 over or something? Was today basically the only day for Sony to reveal each and every release that is coming?

Most big games yes. Only smaller titles get announced later on during E3 (yes, there have been instances of bigger titles getting announced later on, but seriously, do you really think Sony is going to announce something big for it at this point?)
