So the Sonic comics debacle

the cover, for those wondering:

Only Knack (who's been a villain from day one back on the Game Gear), Bean and Bark, Bean and Bark are officially convicts in the games too as you an see Wanted posters of them in the City Escape level of Sonic Generations.

Weird, I always thought they were only integrated in the comics but not in other games.

Just bought the first two volumes of the reboot off Amazon for $20. I used to love the comic growing up but it got so convoluted I stopped trying to follow it. I had no idea they pulled an infinite crisis and rebooted the whole thing. I am kind of excited to start the series again. Cant wait until they arrive.

Can you post a link? I just tried to find them but I have no idea what to look at since there's like, a million different versions of the Sonic comics.

Is there a trade paperback or compilation that happens to start with that reboot issue?

Although I like Sega, I was never that much into Sonic, but if nods like Segata Sanshiro and Fighting Vipers are to become more common, this could be worth looking into.

Also, does any of the comics reference anything specific to the NeoGeo Pocket Color Sonic game?
A Game Gear boss made it, so I wonder...

Basically all that Secret Team stuff died with the reboot. It Headed by Alias, Sally's brother, created by Penders. Same with St John.

Naugus is still in the Canon, but his background is quite different.

Basically the Sonic comic can use anything from:

- The video games
- The AoStH series
- The SatAM series

For example, the current story:

These pages alone, all from the same story arc, contains references to:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Master System)
  • Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (Cartoon)
  • Sonic the Fighters (Arcade) (including the secret bonus character that couldn't even be unlocked until the PS360 version)
  • Sonic Unleashed
  • Sonic Heroes
  • Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity

Plus the guy Sonic defeated is blatantly Segata Sanshiro.

I thought we had banned particularly disgusting fanart from deviantart in Sonic threads?
Had we? That'd actually be a great boon to discussing the series.

Unfortunately, Ken Penders is more relevant to the topic at hand and slightly larger-fry than a random deviantARTist. Slightly.

So with the Sonic/Megaman crossover starting in a couple of months, would you fellows be interested in an OT for that? I could whip something up and provide a reading order of sorts for those that would like to catch up or read the first crossover =)

What the hell?

That's worse than half of what Devianart's Sonic community puts out. Like the only good thing in that frame is that Knuckles on the right.

And that's because it's a straight up panel rip (that he obviously didn't draw) of one of the future arc issues.

Sure - I used it last time as a reference, although this time I expect to buy digital.

This was the big issue #150 event that they'd been teasing for ages, too.

There's a reason why that writer (along with the rest of the writing staff) got canned within the year.

Let me guess, it was lenders that did that Story Arc?
