So where's the next gen kids games?

So besides Knack....are there any kids games coming out for PS4/XB1?....and I dont mean downloadable titles...

It looks like Nintendo is the only company with big budget kids games anymore..... Im considering getting a WiiU down the line, just because I dont see any room for bright and colorful games next gen, even when technology would really make those sort of games shine

I dont even care if we get another Jak or Ratchet or whatever, I would welcome a big colorful new franchise...

Sonic Transformed showed what an HD cartoon world could look like....and it was fantastic to see (actually all of the recent Sonic game have been really good to look at)

So where the big budget kids games? Will we see anymore in the next gen era?

they're appealing to the people who are willing to drop $400 and $500 on next-generation consoles. i'm sure we'll see more "kid-friendly" titles down the road.

Literally the third word, man.

Well I feel a little silly then.

At this stage in the life of next gen consoles, selling to the wider audience doesn't really come into it. We'll likely see more this time next year as the platforms mature and the audience grows.

Well, aside from Project Spark, the Xbone also had that Rabbids game / interactive TV show thing...

ya if I had kids, there is no way I'd be letting them shoot each other in the head. Sorry, but as I get older I think about that kind of stuff.

Nintendo is really the only choice when I comes to game that are fun and engaging without being overly grotesque and edgy.

Blue Skies in Games!

I'm sure a PS4 version of Little Big Planet will come out eventually. That game is pretty kid-friendly.

But honestly, look at who Disney is siding with - Nintendo. If you want to have a lot of great kid-friendly games, Wii U is your platform. It's a migration that's pretty much complete in this gen - adult/FPS goes to PS4/Xbone, and anything considered "kiddy" is now or going to be on the Wii U, save first party titles.

Kids buy too many used games. Big budget + used games? Cliffy B gave some great insight... lawl.

I think (at least on PS4) there will be plenty of indie titles suitable for kids. My kids aren't getting AAA titles, they'll get cute little indie titles

If Project Spark can market itself to children, it would be great. It develops creativity and imagination. It's like fun programming for kids and at the same time you can experience the game.

Disney Infinity does the same thing and brings a whole new meaning to the Disney universe.

Then there is Knack, Skylanders, Lego, etc.

Don't forget all of the Wii U games... Mario Kart 8, Super Mario, etc.

Hints are that we'll see those sort of games for PS4 at Gamescom, along with Move/camera talk - E3 was for core.

Project Spark comes to mind.
For kids?

It appeard to me as a round and pretty Minecraft... A giant sandbox, but not something I would have enjoyed as a kid (Minecraft neither, although I was a huge lego fan and stay far from it now because I know I could get stuck to this game... Spark doesn't click, though)

I played RTS, NFS games and GTA as a kid (8-12). I feel people often underestimate kid's understanding/learning abilities.
