Bootaay do you mind if I use a couple of the gifs for the OT? I wasn't going to have any gifs but seeing some of the combat and car stuff in motion gives a better idea than stills and words. lol
Well, yes... cuz it looks boring, uninspired, etc. at least in my eyes.
Okay, let's just forget that I am also a huge fan of the MGS series and look at the facts - MGS V has a very robust and diverse stealth, action and tactical gameplay, not to mention the fact that you can build your own base, manage your troops, send them to missions, upgrade weapons, gadgest, unlock new ones and so on. Now, that alone is enough for me to buy it (which I already did btw). As for the open world aspect of it... I don't know, it may not be great too, but just like I have said above:
...and MGSV has a lot of cool ideas/gameplay mechanics etc. that saves the game for me even if open world would not be great. I can't say the same thing about Mad Max and it's that simple.
Mad is not the right word, more like very disappointed that is.
Well, I am not forcing anyone not to buy or not to play the game, I just posted my personal opinion and that's it. If you guys like what you've seen so far then go ahead, good for you, who am I to tell you what to do and what to buy (^_^)
I already did just that above and pointed out everything I don't like and everything I like as exceptions. If that is not good enough/consistent opinion then I don't know what else to say.
Assassin's Creed games (pretty much all of them except ACII which is the best game in the whole series in my opinion), Shadow of Mordor, Watch_Dogs, inFamous series, Prototype series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mercenaries series, Spider Man games and so on. I'm not saying that majority of games going open world, cuz they are not, all I'm saying is that the wast majority of them is boring and generic. And what also makes me sad is that more and more developers started copying gameplay mechanics/aspects of Ubisoft's games which I despise and can't stand (gameplay mechanics/aspects). If any developers out there is reading this right now - you only hurting your games and making them look boring, unoriginal and generic just like Ubisoft's games so please, stop!
Couple more GIFs;
Shit. 50% off on release? That's kind of nuts.
I love open world games and spend a lot of time just stopping at each little scavenging location that pops up to explore and collect things. If you like collecting things in games then this game has definitely got you covered there and it tracks each individual location with what you're missing.

Its really odd the hate this game is recieving.
The steam forum is riddled with poisonous threads from people who have no intention of playing/buying it trying to influence others not to buy it.
I dont really get it tbh. Is it just because its published by warner and perceived as some generic boring open world?
Anyways with no steam preload for mgs im looking forward to this to play before that and also as a quick pick up and play pallete cleanser between mgs sessions.
here's a gif from one of the trailers they released...you're welcome to use it if you want

Its easy. They are pissed that Mad Max Fury Road is the better Action movie than their beloved Avengers.
And now they dont want a Mad Max game be better than their beloved Assassins Creed,MGS and other open world games.
I'm still balls deep into The Witcher 3 and there is no end in sight. I've been playing that game for almost 3 months now.
MGS V launches the same day as this, and I have every intention to start that game as soon as possible, possibly putting The Witcher 3 on hold. Fallout 4 launches November 11th and I'll probably not have finished MGS V and The Witcher 3 by then, so I'll be mixing up 3 masive open world games. Just Cause 3 launches in December as well.
I want to play Mad Max, but with 3, possibly 4 expansive open world games vying for my very precious time I'm afraid mad Max wiil be the first to fall by the wayside.
Open world fatigue is real.
A lot of it might come from Warner. Warner have fucked up their last two big pc releases quite badly and generated a bit (a lot) of bad will because of it.
It's the reason why this will be the first multi plat game in a long time I get on console instead of pc simply because I do not trust Warner to have made a competent port.
I wouldn't tbh take much stock in dark_inferno's console war answer. Assassin's Creed and MGS have not ever been massive pc franchises that have ever garnered the jealous defense that he is implying is the reason for the hate.

But even their most incompetent port wasn't locked at 30fps. I wouldn't pay money for that experience.A lot of it might come from Warner. Warner have fucked up their last two big pc releases quite badly and generated a bit (a lot) of bad will because of it.

WB doesn't make the ports. Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat X had garbage PC ports because they pawned them off to third party developers. That's not saying all third party developers do a bad job but in those cases they were awful ports. WB also published Shadow of Mordor and that PC port was great because it was made along with the console versions in-house by Monolith. Avalanche is working in-house on the PC version. They've confirmed that multiple times now and even stated it was the version that ran the best internally when it was tested. They even streamed the PC version a bit this week to show people how it ran.
So the pc port is no good?
Honestly, I don't know.
In all probability it is fine
But Warner published games don't get the benefit of the doubt with me anymore.
First impressions on Xbox One:
- intro and the part before you get your actual car is kinda okay I think
- seems to be 1080p, yes.
- framerate is also fine while the game looks really good.
- but there is something that makes the controls feel slightly slow, could be input lag. In menus it's much better.
- car combat and fist combat feel both awesome and have good feedback
- some weird control scheme. Jumping is on LT, aiming on LB, shooting on B.
- no gamma control
- but a quite huge selection of audio presets: cinema, tv, rage (makes everything louder), headphones and night (made for low volume)
- German version has only German subs
- you can drive in first person (double tap down on the d-pad)
That's it so far. Haven't seen enough of the rest yet.

Thanks. Other than the control scheme, it sounds great. Are there options for that?
Unfortunately, no. You can only invert the Y axis and adjust amount of rumble.

Hopefully no one on PC. Warner Bros is 0 for 2 on big releases
Eh, would have been better if LB and LT were the other way round, but I'm sure I'll get used to it anyway.
Pretty damn hyped for this, annoying that it's out on the same day as MGS though.
