So With Tom Brady Winning His Fifth Super Bowl....

45% of America endorses Trump. Get over it.

Don't do this. Our president is a racist monster and a factually terrible excuse for a human being. Don't tell others to get over it when so many people are being negatively impacted by him.

That being said, no, I'm not going to demonize Tom Brady because he's friends with Trump from when Trump was a pro-choice democrat.

I remember how frustrated and distraught I was when the Eagles were defeated by this team and QB in 2005. It took the Pats ten more years to win it all after that day.

Their cheating operation was discovered and, boy, was I surprised. This situation went to Congress where Arlen Specter torched Goodell for burning the incriminating evidence on the Patriots. Not only did the Pats cheat, but Roger Goodell denied the American people closure. He denied this country the truth.

I lost all respect for the Patriots. I am not one to disrespect great teams. I respect the Giants, despite the rivalry. They are winners and they did things the right way. The same cannot be said about the Patriots and Tom Brady.

In a league full of lying and deceit, the Patriots are the most brazen and unethical. Their political affiliations are no surprise to me.

Fast forward to today, and you see Tom Brady and the Pats circumventing the cap via Brady's TB12 Sports Therapy company, a vendor used by the Patriots without public disclosure. The Pats are also benefiting from their prestige, a prestige ill-earned.

I feel this should all contribute to Tom Brady's legacy or his candidacy for the title of "GOAT."

It is not salt, for there are many teams who win like the Pats. Even teams that have beaten Philadelphia teams in heartbreaking ways. The Blackhawks are a dynasty worthy of respect even if they destroyed my hopes of seeing the Flyers win a Stanley Cup.

The Patriots are legitimately criticized, and Brady's legacy is worthy of the tarnish this level-headed NeoGAF poster applies.

This reads like something typed by a person who believes #Pizzagate.

I am no expert in politics, but I believe Thomas Brady and Bill Belichick provided Donald Trump with encouragement and public endorsement two days or so before the election.

If this information is important for how you judge the greatest ever in football, then I believe this may change your opinion of the man.

Calls went funky at the end of the first half and throughout the 4th.

However the Falcons secondary also took a nap during those same time periods.

So... I understand both sides on this. Bad calls against the Falcons and Falcons allowing a ridiculous amount of first downs when it mattered most.

That's the way the cookie crumbles but Brady didn't live up to expectations either. That's my take.

Did he not just lead the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history? Sure, he threw that awful pick 6 but what more could you want from the guy? Dude just broke the record for most yards in a SB game.

I love how you think that careful punctuation and grammar somehow lends your conspiratorial whinging anymore credence than dong "salt" mik up there.

It's a salary cap league and Brady had better defenses than Manning because he was able to lead superbowl caliber offenses while throwing to the likes of Deon branch, Wes Welker, and Edelman as his top receivers. The entire system is set up so that no team can have all the pieces they need. Brady keeps winning Superbowls anyway. That's why he's the best.

The Patriots have had an ELITE defense for at least half of Brady's career (including this year). And that is in large part due to their general manager drafting good players consistently in the middle and end of the draft. If you draft extremely well like they have you can form a great roster even with a salary cap. They've been the deepest and most talented roster in the league for the last decade. And you're forgetting that Brady has had either Randy Moss or Gronk for a good chunk of his career.

I didn't read through the thread, and I don't follow that Pats, but does anyone think the Pats as a team will visit the Whitehouse? or will they join what I assume the rest of the professional sports teams are saying and boycott that tradition?

Do you think just Brady or any of the team take the photo op at the Whitehouse?

Preach it! Never forget their cheating ways....guess my Giants need to step up a third time and put them in their place.

I dunno man, I believe Giselle when she adamantly said that her and Brady don't support Trump!

I think outside of sports, Brady is a dolt who truly just looks at Trump as a friend and thought it would be "neat" to have his friend be president, being completely ignorant as to what's going on in the world.

It disgusts me that they're even friends. But I also have a hard time believing fucking Giselle would be okay with her husband actually voting for a man like Trump given his immigration policies.

But either way, anyone who talks about that yet still watches football at all is a hypocrite. You and I both know damn well that most of the owners and likely most of the coaches are Republicans and Trump supporters, with Kraft actually being one of the few owners who has a history of supporting democrats.

Get mad all you want, man. But the Trump shit is hypocritical. Stop watching the NFL if people who are even friends with Trump make you sick.

(And after that, breathe a little.)

Brady is personal friends with Trump and will turn up, unlike in 2015 when he stood Obama up.

The hate for Tom Brady is amazing. I've never seen so many people angry who had no loyalty for the losing team. Even without the politics, the combination of incredible success, skill, luck, and petty cheating make him a great sports villain.

didnt win with moss, only won one out of two with gronk actually playing in the superbowl. Brady has won with alot of scrubs(not really scrubs but guys who arent pro bowlers or all pro) at reciever and rb tho.

He's the best QB, most of the best white players, as well as owners and coaches are republicans and are probably no different personally to Trump supporters. In college ball too.

And this is one of the reasons I'd rather watch the NBA or other sports. Sorry, politics matters that much to me.

I don't put stock in records because they dont grow with the game. Performance relative to the era is what matters most and Brady fucked up more often than not tonight. It wasn't entirely his fault. His O-line getting schooled by a 4 man rush is embarrassing but when he had to make clutch throws he fucked up mpre than he came through when taling the entire game into account.

His records tonight have more to do with the Falcons secondary goinf on vacation early than it does with him being exceptional.

I think only the New York Yankees engender this much or more hate from fans of other teams in American sports. Basically, if you're a fan of baseball, you're either a Yankees fan or you hate their guts.

Which is crazy since he stands alone with the most appearances. Who has more?

Only Rich Gannon has thrown more interceptions.

Meanwhile Joe Montana threw 11 TD's with zero interceptions in 4 Super Bowls. Back when defensive backs were allowed to play defense.

The hate isn't about anything besides Trump for me and a lot of people. I don't care about football, I'll even grant you he's the best of all time, but a major celebrity caping for Trump isn't cool with me at all.

1 out of 5 actually. The stats tell the story tonight. Only one player with over 100 reciever yards James freaking white. Edelman with 80, Mitchell with 70, Hogan with 60ish, amendola with 70ish, Bennet with about 70. He sees and moves the field better than anybody. He spreads it out and has almost his entire professional career.... Hell a lot of people argue that his years that he stagnated he was too locked in on moss/Welker then gronk/edelman.

Broken logic. You could argue Montana's greatness is a result of easily the goat reciever and insanely stacked teams before the free agent era.

Keep the salt coming. It really truly is delicious.

Yup no Salt detected.

I wish that more players in the NFL stood up for what was right. It's nice seeing that in the NBA fairly often.

It's one of the reasons I love Rodgers. He drops a few real comments from time to time. I think it was after the Paris attacks during a Packers game when some idiot fan in the crowd yelled out, "Fuck Muslims!" during the National Anthem.

Rodgers made it a point to bring it up on his own, if I remember correctly, during the post-game press conference, saying something along the lines of that guy being one of the problems in the country.

Jordan
Phelps
Woods
Ali
Gretzky
Ruth

GOAT at their respective sport.

FTFY - mentioning Brady in the same list, let alone at the top, amongst those actual legends, is a complete joke. the dudes you name never were suspended over being a cheating piece of no good shit, and it's a disgrace you would put brady above any of them.

It's good to be a Pats fan

What a time to be alive. Tom's records are probably gonna stand for a while too.

See this is where that physics class would definitely help.

The order doesn't matter, I just typed it down as I thought of the sport. Brady's got the accolades to be on the list, imo. That would've been Montana's spot, but Brady edged him out today.

But you're okay with Phelps, who is in that list you quoted, being suspended for driving drunk and putting people's lives at risk?

Nice priorities.

lol please help me understand how physics has anything to do with the brady and the pats being a bunch of cheaters who have been caught and suspended/fined multiple times for CHEATING! how does physics help me understand why I should be okay with this?

A physics class would help you understand that Tom Brady was suspended for anti-science nonsense.

Brady will meet with President Trump. He attended the White House events when Bush was in office, but missed Obama.

Leave him be, you can practically see the tears on his desk with that post, he's dead inside.

Said it multiple times. For people like him football is forever ruined. You have to live with Tom as the face of the league. You will always hear him talked about in a league of his own.

You're just focusing on the offense. The defense has been pretty great for most of his time in New England. And I would say Wes Welker and Julian Edelman are a couple of the best slot receivers to ever play the game.

Broken logic. You could argue Montana's greatness is a result of easily the goat reciever and insanely stacked teams before the free agent era.

I never argued for Montana. So you claim I have broken logic while attributing a stance to me that I've never taken.

Swing and a miss.

i mean, come on man, im talking about the sport itself. not the mistakes that people make outside of that realm. i don't think phelps issues outside of the pool have anything to do with how he performs inside of it. the pats and brady have been busted multiple times cheating in the game of football. I will never be okay with them winning a championship with the same personal that has been caught cheating multiple times. fuck that!
