Or just delete when you are done with games.
Unless you are really that worried that you won't be able to play your games 10+ years from now.
Oh boy. Provided I have to download the whole thing, that's around two days of straight downloading to play Forza.

No shit, how in the world did they ever expect this to be a digital system? Plus, the incremental cost of a larger HD has to be tiny in these systems. 1 TB should be standard in both.
I think you are right.
Anyway, based on these games, all of the games I want at launch put together will probably be close to 400 GB.
it will be since you can play while it downloads...I had to do that this gen, and I have a 500 in my PS3. These games are much larger than this gens.
I like having all of my games readily available.
Mandatory installs
thats all I have to say
welcome to next gen
why shouldn't you be worried if you'll be able to play your games 10+ years from now?
No, I mean the sizes of these shits are huge. If the emphasis was digital, and decreasing people's reliance on retail and therefore giving more control to Microsoft and devs/pubs - and it was - then the inevitable result would be they thought a sizable portion of people would be buying games exclusively digitally, no disc at all. Eventually I am sure the system would turn into an all-digital platform entirely, eschewing discs forever.
Most internet in America is not ready for such gigantic bandwidth stress. Internet sucks for most people in America for sizes this big. It just seems like such a strategy is even more ridiculous now knowing this.
Titanfall will be out by the time you're done.
Most of the games I want are probably smaller. At least I hope so. There's no way Powerstar, Peggle 2, Crimson Dragon, and Killer Instinct are over 10 gig each, right?
Albert's tweet also means that once again MS is downloading install packages. I love that unlike the Wii U and PS3 that there's no additional install after the download finishes. My hope is Sony moved to that approach on PS4.
lol. no.The problem is that 1tb drives arent too terribly common in the size of drive that is used in the ps4 and likely xbone (didnt even exist a year or two ago)
Thats why its absolutely insane they didnt make the xbone drive upgradable though (even if they made it proprietary drives again)
Im thinking 4tb is the sweet spot for this gen
no,you stick to the past. Can we go back to cartridges please? I want to go back to the age where we could play our games straight away...
That's because their all 720p. Half the size of ps4 1080p goodness.
:jnc
Semi related, but albert had an interesting tweet about game downloading.
Apparently after a retail disk installs, if you buy it digitally there is no download needed. Pretty neat.
Whatever you quoted is a banned source. CAn't see the link."Fergal Gara’s original assessment of Killzone: Shadow Fall “cracking on” for 50GB has turned out to be a little off, as Guerrilla Games confirmed to Eurogamer that the final digital file size of the game will be 39.7GB in Europe."

Dat 900p game being more in filesize. =p
Ahahahaha....wow... this gen isn't going to work... seriously. Gonna have to buy a new external every 10 games?
Saw these posted on reddit.

Forza 5 - 35GB
Ryse - 47GB
DR3 - 35GB
Lock if old.
EDIT: Also, no local co-op for DR3 and Ryse. Bummer for me.
Before the 180, when you bought a physical game, you got a digital copy.ok i seriously now wonder how in the universe this all digital future would have worked out when this shit is the average game size
I'd rather not do that. I bought a 1TB hard drive for my PS3 so I can download every PS+ game. If I decide I want to play a game of mine, I don't want to wait for it to install. It can take a long time too. GTAV took a while, and that was only 8GB. 40GB installs, plus blu-ray's slower read speed, should take a while. You can delete the games off the HDD you know?
My concerns are with available hard drive space.Seamless installs while you play is way better than waiting hours to start playing. Even with stuff like PlayGo it would take me over two hours to start playing then I'd have to take breaks when I catch up to my connection. No thanks.

lol. no.
Can you quote me a price on a 4th 2.5 drive.
Like I said in the PS4 thread, can you imagine how much bigger they're gonna be in a few years?
I don't even want to think about the size of Final Fantasy XV.

Is the limit on the discs not 50 gig?
Seeing if I can find a similar article from a non-banned site.
Holy shit at 47GB for Ryse!!! This means it will be a long game. Assuming all the cut scenes are rendered real time so they won't take much space.
I'm less concerned with the HD space as I am for the download times and running up against the monthly limits from Comcast. Why hasn't anyone developed a .zip type file for downloading games? Is that even possible?I hope it's still true you can start playing as you install/download, but I really doubt that's the case with every game, sounds incredibly hard for the developer.
35 GB should take me 10/12 hours, not as bad as I thought.
Its inevitable.Multiple discs. You know it's coming.
There's already thread about it www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=703198

I wonder if gamestop will start offering download to your system in store services? Or maybe they could release demo discs that include that required initial data.1) Download speeds aren't great
2) You still have to download a significant sized file to start playing (e.g. KZSF requires 7.5 out of the 39.7gb to be downloaded before playing) you gotta get the data from somewhere... of course different games will require different amounts of data at the start
3) Data caps

I honestly never thought it was. Why aren't PC game sizes this outrageous?
Maybe the cutscenes are prerendered high quality movies? Would be in line with 1080p pixel counting from screenshots.Dat 900p game being more in filesize. =p
