I hope that if there is a demo, it accurately shows off the game. The demo to SST failed at doing that, being nowhere near as good as the game.Upsidedown Fuji said:I hope a demo comes out on live before it releases sometime next month. I really want to play this game!
Wasn't the tennis game also similar in having more references to Sonic Heroes than the other Sonic games too?Rlan said:Also I just realized that the song in the new trailer is from the final level of Sonic Heroes. I do hope they're doing new music, or at the very least some remixes.
Sonic Heroes wasn't the worst game, but it was the start of the downfall (EggRobots, Shitty friends). The fact that the three known Sonic levels are all based on it (Final Fortress, Seaside Hill, Casino Park) is just weird.
It was. I guess it was the first and last 3d Sonic game that tried to capture that old look, so it's easier to emulate again.OMG Aero said:Wasn't the tennis game also similar in having more references to Sonic Heroes than the other Sonic games too?
I wonder what it is they like about Sonic Heroes.

Death Egg Zone from Sonic 3&K is a better level to base a game off of, or even Scrap Brain. Not because of Nostalgia, but because they were full of great gimmicks that could be fun in a racing game - anti gravity, space bridges, all that stuff.
If they can make a sonic 2 special stage track which is as wild and awesome as mario kart's rainbow road, I WANTRlan said:It was. I guess it was the first and last 3d Sonic game that tried to capture that old look, so it's easier to emulate again.
But then Smash Bros pulled off Green Hill pretty well.
So what do you think they'll do for the final level of the game? I'm betting on some sort of Sonic Special Stage level...
RobbieNick said:Well, now that all the info is pretty much in, looks like I'm going with the 360 version. Playing as Banjo/Kazooie and Avatars beats not playing as anyone extra on PS3.
First Bayonetta, now this. Curse you Sega for making me buy third party 360 games!:lol

If anything that's a plus of PS3 version.
Btw. There were some reports that PS3 version is running at better fps. That might be just the beta, but who knows if it wont hold for final version.
The same mentality as in the Facebook and Twitter on 360 threads.cjelly said:I still don't understand how people can spin extra characters as a negative.

It is a negative when the extra character is butt ugly and takes over the front cover. I'd rather buy a Sega all-stars racing game with just Sega characters in it personally, but thats mainly because I don't care for Banjo-Kazooie. The avatars/Miis are a neat extra though.cjelly said:I still don't understand how people can spin extra characters as a negative.
It's more an extra roster slot than anything (so the 360 version has one extra character over the rest, presuming the PS3 has no one extra) but yeah, still a bit of a shame. At least for me many of the new additions more than make up for it, especially Opa Opa.Segata Sanshiro said:I only care because my favourite SEGA character got left out of an All-Stars/Superstars game for the first time while non-SEGA characters are eating roster slots.
I'm sure he'll get added via DLC. Conveniently, I'm sure the price will have collapsed by that point as well, so it all kind of works out for me.Gagaman said:It's more an extra roster slot than anything (so the 360 version has one extra character over the rest, presuming the PS3 has no one extra) but yeah, still a bit of a shame. Depends on the version, but each of the console versions has at least 20 characters, with the 360 version having two more on top of that, and the Wii version having one more.Wrath2X said:I haven't been following this game for a while, so I would like to know how many characters are there in this game and if it looks good or not.
Thats nice, have all the characters been confirmed or there more on the way.Segata Sanshiro said:Depends on the version, but each of the console versions has at least 20 characters, with the 360 version having two more on top of that, and the Wii version having one more.
It looks pretty damn fun.
Ben2749 said:If you don't like a character, don't pick them. You'd have to be incredibly self-centered to say that the OPTION to choose an extra character, simply because you don't like them, is a bad thing. There are plenty of people who are happy to see Banjo and Kazooie.
If the PS3 were the only version getting an exclusive character, and it was Ratchet or Sackboy, or whoever, I wouldn't give a fuck, but I'd acknowledge it as being a plus for other people who do.
As for calling the 360 version a "shitty technically port", maybe you should save comments like that for after it's actually been released?
All of the retail characters have been confirmed and/or leaked, but apparently there are going to be characters coming as DLC? Dunno about that.Wrath2X said:Thats nice, have all the characters been confirmed or there more on the way.
And I still think Sonic should just run, the way sega portrays him as the fastest thing ever you can't help but cringe seeing him in the car.

Banjo didn't take that character's place. If Banjo wasn't in the game then they still wouldn't have put that character in.Segata Sanshiro said:I only care because my favourite SEGA character got left out of an All-Stars/Superstars game for the first time while non-SEGA characters are eating roster slots.

That and Sumo Digital did at first have it set up as Sonic on foot, Tails in his full size plane etc, but found it made the game stupidly unbalanced and awkward looking. But you know, so called laws of a character and his universe come before gameplay..

And yeah Sonic should be on his feet, I'm pretty sure they could make it work if they really wanted to.
gutter_trash said:this is not the same as Brawl where Sonic fighitng Mario is the death match..
-Banjo 1st is not even popular at all;
-is a N64 spawned character which has zero relevance to the Saturn and basically did not even compete with anything Saturn
-if this is MS's idea of attracting buyers; then it has an opposite effect on me because I want my Sega games to be RARE free since I never cared about Rare ever in my life

If it helps you sleep at night why don't you just imagine that part of the rules in this obviously real racing tournament are that everyone has to be in a vehicle? There, confusion over, everyone's happy.
Yo make a good argument. But about the drifting, you could drift in Unleashed if I remember correctly.Ben2749 said:I'm sure your intuition is more reliable than the early game build that was tried, tested, and failed.
How do you make drifting work when a character is running on foot?
Sumo Digital put everybody on a level playing field. As said above, gameplay and balancing is far more important than appeasing some rabid Sonic fans who take the franchise so seriously that they get pissy when he's not running, simply because they've decided to deem what does and doesn't make sense in regards to the series.
The whole "Sonic can run faster than everybody else and would never use a vehicle" nonsense isn't even adhered to in the Sonic games themselves:
1) Tails and Knuckles can run just as fast as Sonic.
2) So can Robotnik, apparently, seeing as he outruns Sonic in the Death Egg Zone in both Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckles.
3) Sonic rides a dodgem in Sonic Adventure 1's Twinkle Park.
4) Sonic rides a car in a Sonic Adventure 2 racing minigame.
5) Sonic has been in plenty of racing games (Sonic Drift 1 + 2, Sonic R, Sonic Riders 1 +2, Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, and maybe more that I'm unaware of), only ONE of which he was on foot.
Seeing as how the main Sonic series has next to no consistency regarding this (or anything else for that matter), I have to naturally assume that the people who take issue with it aren't too far removed from the people who take the source material, fill in the gaps in their head, and have a creepy reverence for it (ie. the kind of people who write Sonic fanfiction and post bizarre Sonic-related pictures on Deviantart).
I can understand complaining about Sonic being outrun by the likes of Bowser in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (though I personally couldn't care less), as that requires a far greater suspension of disbelief, but bitching about Sonic driving a car in a game in which EVERYBODY is in a vehicle is just petty.

Anyway lets just drop it, I guess I'll just have to play Sonic in a car. Ah well.
