Your list forgot to include powerup shields and the Sonic physics diagrams that explains under what inertia conditions Sonic sticks to the plain. I think you should go hang out with the Unleashed kids.
Big One said:Pretty much this. I think people have regressed to almost mental deficient levels of logic in regarding to every Sonic game due to huge stinkers like Black Knight, Sonic 2006, and Shadow the Hedgehog. I've seen some people blatantly say the Genesis games suck or "Sonic has always sucked" type of logic from this.

Sega/Sonicteam still make awesome games. If you cut out all the aesthetic stuff that you all seem to abhor, you'll see that the 3D Sonic games are solid, fun games at their foundation.
I don't really see how anyone can argue with that. Sonic Adventure 2 is one of the most addicting games I've ever played.

Overall it's interesting to note, how much unlike Super Mario 64 the game seems. It's almost something more like Jumping Flash or even a 3rd person 3D Bland than anything. The whole thing has almost a side scrolling gameplay mechanic where Sonic is running from left to right almost as much as he is running into the screen. I won't lie and say that this isn't something I'd at least want to try, but I can totally see why they canceled it.
JSnake said:No, SA2 sucks.
The only fun parts were Sonic/Shadow levels and there were way too few of them. The rest of the game was filled with utter shit like treasure hunting and mech piloting. Whenever you weren't playing as Sonic or Shadow, you were doing some other dumb shit, slogging through it because then you'd get to play the fun levels. Then you get to the first fun level since 4 levels ago and it ends in 3 minutes.
SA2 was a crap game filled to the brim with glitches like falling through solid ground, bad controls (homing attack throwing you off cliffs and the spin dash doing the same thing being the main offender), and just plain bad design choices. The game was several hours long but the fun parts only amounted to a fraction of that time.
SA1 was worse
Sonic X-Treme is quite awesome. The game seems to have its fair share of problems. I've read all the horror stories surrounding the project. The guy who programmed and tried to save it nearly killed himself. In the end SEGA should've polished the concept because losing the STI team was really the beginning of the end for them. On the other hand they wouldn't stand a chance against Mario 64 with a planned releasedate of christmas 1996.Alphahawk said:So last night I came across some recently leaked footage of Sonic X-treme, and it looks like we may of dodged a bullet here.

I think it was more unmemorable than anything. I can't remember anything about it anymore. I guess that means it wasn't awful, but it had nothing that stood out.Teknoman said:You didnt like Advance Firestorm?
Um, no. Those are both terrible concepts for a Sonic game considering they have yet to lay down a foundation to build upon. The problem with Sonic Team is they've been trying to add things with Sonic without ever figuring out how to get the core game right. Before Mario Sunshine, Nintendo made Super Mario 64. Before Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker, Nintendo made Ocarina of Time.Willy105 said:Sega/Sonic Team make awesome CONCEPTS. But they shoot themselves in the foot by making the game so bad.
Giving Sonic a sword sounds like a great idea, but being on a linear game where swinging the sword makes you stop running in super short missions makes it a bad game.
The Warehog is a great idea, but making it a God of War-like game makes it a bad game.
Grinding is a great idea, except when they make it a button masher.

Doesnt look like that Sonic into Christmas Nights mini-game either.

SA1 was better
Kulock said:You probably don't want to hear this, but I think you could do that in SA. With Tails and Knuckles at least.
Kulock said:It's not. The description covers it, but supposedly this is the engine they were messing with at one point, they made it themselves after seeing NiGHTS, but Sonic Team (Naka especially, supposedly?) flipped out and threatened to quit, thinking it was actually the NiGHTS code and it had been taken from his team without approval.
The Xtreme devs really had no support from inside Sega, the project was doomed to fail.
autobzooty said:Sonic Advance or Sonic Adventure?
I know you can do it in both Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but the spin dash is useless in those games anyways. It's been years since i've played Advance 1, and quite a while since i've played Advance 2. You may be right about that though.

Technically Spinball is the worst IMO, but since no one gives a shit about Spinball anyway, I'd say S3&K is the worst.

Ten-Song said:I like to remain optimistic in an Indiana Jones kind of way. Hundreds of years after my death, Sonic is a forgotten relic. Once Sega had exhausted the tween and creepy adult demographic, it was impossible for them to create a Sonic branded game that could sell remotely well. Rather than realize the error of their ways, they locked him away, and forgot about him. Now in the distant future, when everyone that has sullied the poor Hedgehog's name has died and faded from memory, some brave person plunges into the vault of things forgotten at Sega. There, he finds a copy of Sonic CD...

I find it very interesting, that 3D Sonic games could of went in a totally different direction. I don't know if that direction would of been better or worse than what we have now.

It's obviously not as bad as the post-Genesis games, and it's overall better than Sonic CD, but compared to Sonic 1 and 2, I have little to no love for Sonic 3&K.
