I can guarantee you that ND is porting TLOU2 and not some other studio. I can also be confident that GG will not make that mistake again.

It's super old.

Imagine Assassins Creed coming out for PS4 and only getting ported to Xbox 3 years later. That's almost half a generation.

And TLOU2 is coming sure.... and what about TLOU1? Because that's getting ported first for sure, so yeah, that's gonna be another 3 years easy.

It's no wonder they mentioned "maximize cash flow" on their report. Those PS4 games aren't selling much these days, and with PS5 BC there's no incentive for former PS4 owners to buy them again. That's why PC ports of games like Bloodborne, Last Guardian, SoTC Remake, Infamous Second Son and others make sense. Its basically low hanging fruit.
I can totally understand not releasing PS5 games on PC for the moment though.

Why can't they co-exist? Social media metrics at least show that there is growing interest in Playstation at least. I think people will always like something that is more user friendly than a PC as an option. It's called differentiation. These aren't the same consumers.

Can you charge PS Plus on PC? No. So PS5 and PS6 will continue. Too much hassle and piracy and lots of waiting game from PC gamers for sales. They're too good in upgrading HW, too bad at buying real games at launch. The chart of Witcher 3 explains that clearly.

They get profits but too long to wait for them. Why sell 10 million games to one platform, wait 3yrs and then sell another 10 million after that? Who knows where the company would be at as far as quarterly earnings, expenses etc.. The fact that TLOU2 which has only been out for a couple of months is getting a PC port being worked on NOW, should tell you that the window isn't going to be anywhere near as large as what people want it to be.
 
I would be happy if an exclusive on Playstation stayed for x# of years and then eventually ported over to PC.
Exclusive games like Gravity Rush 1/2, Uncharted, Shadow of Colossus, Bloodborne, etc. would be awesome and definitely bring in more revenue/exposure.
I couldn't find sales numbers; Horizon on PC had 50k+ concurrent users at one point.

I just don't see them ever getting to Microsoft's level or even close. Horizon ZD came out 3 years later and was a subpar port, whereas on xbox you get superior versions of their 1st party day one.
 
Imagine looking down on console games and then you play God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman, Days Gone and Bloodborne and you realize you missed the greatest games of the generation lol

It's funny to see some PC master race laughing about those "pew pew cinematic 3rd person from Sony" like they are above that and then they sit on top of the charts as soon as they come out and people beg for more for years.

Yeah people are really trying to ignore business sense here. It makes sense to adopt this strategy. It keeps the people who want to play the game right away still buying the games, but allows Sony to further profit later down the road and potentially convert some of the PC users into PS5 owners.

Well the PC versions will probably be staggered releases if their recent releases indicate anything. Will HFW be delayed by one, two or three years? Still indicates that consoles will still be Sonys main focus.

If you are a pc gamer, there's really no reason to pay 499 for a piece of plastic for a few exclusives if they get released down the line. There's so many great games on pc anyway so no reason to rush. Especially if it can save you so much money.
 
Another thing to consider about the future of consoles is the expense. I get the feeling that these next-gen consoles are going to be very expensive and possibly why they haven't announced a price yet. Listen to Xbox latest talk about the cost. Imagine how much it would cost to make a PS6/XSX2 with the power of the 3000-series GPUs with even more RAM. If the consoles start going to $1k a pop, it's going to enter a very competitive space in the PC market as the lower end cards of a 5000-series card will be equivalent in performance to a 3000-series card.

It'll be very interesting to see how all of this pans out.

If they gonna put more games for pc, they gotta start supporting mods as well, otherwise my interest on buying them on pc is very low, if I really liked their games I would've bought it on console already, their first party games just aren't much fun to play without robust modding and customization options that make pc version of a game so great.

Their strategy just recently changed so nobody should blame them for past, but right now they know which titles are possibly coming to PC and if they still advertise those games as exclusives it's their fault for misleading people.
 
This is a great thing, it makes sense to do late PC Ports as a way to get these titles off a soon dying platform and generate some extra revenue for the devs. Think of how many great PS3 and 360 games that just lay dead on it these days that would really benefit from a new release, hell you've got RPCS3 making Heavenly Sword look good by running it in 4k/60.

That's not how this went down. The developers didn't know they was going to port to PC. Sony got new management and it was right around that time that rumors started spewing about PC ports for exclusives. These PS4 game developers had no clue they would be porting to the PC when they first started developing the games. This came much later and all the studios were probably informed. My contact tried to give me as little information as possible but when that rumor of HZD came out he was very clear in saying "there will be more". I'm sure all the studios had mass meetings about it.

You're conveniently leaving out the expense of PC video cards. The newest top of the line 3000 series is reportedly going to be $1500. This is exactly why consoles aren't going anywhere.
 
Hey, if they want to give me a reason to just buy a PC and not need a Playstation at all, I wouldn't be upset. An extra few hundred quid on the budget for a PC and access to cheaper third parties beats the need for multiple platforms to enjoy everything any day.

I still think it's putting a short term revenue increase over the long term viability of their business however.
 
That would be awesome. I own most of the Sony first party games on PS4 but I'd love to see more for PC for my friends and I might get to finally play some Naughty Dog games with Mouse and Keyboard.

No. The expense of a 3060 is yet to be known. I'm not talking high end graphics cards.

For example, it could very well be possible to configure a PC with a 3060 with equal power to a PS6 at the same cost. The closed systems are going to be higher by the sheer fact they are closed systems with custom hardware.

No more like keeping GOW at console equivalent settings, expanding the FOV if available so I can see more, display at 70% of 4K(3200 x 1800) which is the image quality that checkerboard 4K reaches, and using all the rest of my GPU's overhead to push as many frames as possible which should be well past 60fps. Using a 4K 120hz monitor.
