I remember Nintendo doing this same thing last generation - the Gamecube logo popped up after several third party commercials, especially for EA games.

I don't think it helped the GC out too much.

Just to give an example of the power of advertising, My girlfriend, total non gamer, saw the Assassins Creed longform commercials and actually want to try the game.

I dont know if the ads have helped but our PS3 sales have definatly gone up in the last month. We havent sold a 360 in about 3 weeks now at the gamestop I work at (and still sitting on 6 halo systems to top it off). Of course WII's are gone instantly (6 gone in 10 minutes last week) ,but we have no ps3's now we sold our entire stock over the weekend (10 systems between all designs...including 3 refurb 60 gigs)... everyone coming in to ask was asking about Wii's, release date of Mario, PS3's and then about that cool looking "middle east looking game" for the ps3 (aka assassins creed)....

Then again I am a mall store so we get A LOT of people who are not hardcore gamers compared to our other 3 strip mall stores in town so who knows.

I would put a ban bet on it outselling Uncharted. I'd do it for Mass Effect as well but only for as long as a month or so.

World wide Assassins Creed should outsell both Mass Effect and Uncharted since it's a multiplatform game that has a lot of hype behind it and is getting great reviews. I expect both Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4 to sell more then Uncharted/Mass Effect.

Uncharted will suffer from the PS3 userbase and Mass Effect ain't going to do what many 360 fans think it will do sale wise.

Stranglehold averaged a 78.6% on the 360 which is when it had the most commercials. There was no momentum for the game due to that.

If you ever thought that Assassin's Creed was going to flop, you don't know the gamer audience outside the internet at all. It's going to do very, very well for itself, and there's little doubt in my mind that it will outsell pretty much every other PS3/360 game this month. That includes COD4 and Mass Effect.

I think that's pretty much a given. Assassins Creed will be huge here in Europe I think. Also COD4 will prob sell as much as Uncharted and Mass Effect combined

I think you and a lot of people are underestimating this game...This game is going to be big...real big. I think itll do at least a million by the end of the year along with COD4 (if it hasnt already) and Assassin's Creed...and thats just the 360...I havent seen this much hype for 3 games in a longggg time and the pre-orders are just pouring in for both of them. I also think Kane and Lynch is going to do 250-300k by the end of the year on 360...Those will probably be the big 4 for the holiday on 360 (halo 3 doesnt count anymore!!! its a given)

Well, you mentioned multiplatform games that MS advertised as for 360 only (Madden, GTA4)..and Halo 3. Halo 3 isn't available for PS3 obviously, so I am not sure how MS could have advertised it as anything else.

Where are the objective sales-agers? It was about a month ago that one of them made the argument that the 360's sales advantage in the UK was greater than the PS3's sales advantage across the rest of Europe. I know I didn't dream up that thread.

Edit: From what I recall, the sales-agers showed that it's inconclusive, but that the notion that the PS3 outsells the 360 in Europe is a myth; that the two are probably even in sales with the 360 possibly outselling the PS3 by a slight amount.
