Sony continuing strong ad push

Where are the objective sales-agers? It was about a month ago that one of them made the argument that the 360's sales advantage in the UK was greater than the PS3's sales advantage across the rest of Europe. I know I didn't dream up that thread.

Sounds like something Maxwell House would say. Of course with the support of sales figures from that site.

If I'm wrong, it doesn't really affect me. I have a PS3 as well as a 360. I know I might have trolled the PS3 a bit in the past, but I'm not doing that anymore.

Although we don't have many hard/concrete numbers for Europe, my guess is that the PS3 has been outselling the 360 in '07 by a small margin. Of course, the PS3 was boosted by its launch period this year and the 360 was out for about 2.5 months before the PS3 even launched this year, so it's a bit of a difficult comparison at the moment. 2008 should provide a much better view as to how the PS3 and 360 are doing against one another in Europe.

We already know that the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Japan as well, but at the same time, I'm not entirely sure that the combined JP+EU figures even make up for the large difference (100k-200k difference) in sales between the 360 and PS3 in the U.S. that occur on a monthly basis.

Well as of late PS3 is only outselling 360 by what 10-12k in Japan a week? I maybe wrong so dont quote me on that but I think htats right...but with Ace Combat and Lost Odyssey coming up...along with the price drop and the 7/11 bundle in Japan 360 may just do pretty good for the next couple of months in japan before dropping back down to 5k a week.

Well, that's basically in line with what I believed the consensus to be. I apologize for the way I worded my post on the last page. I can't edit it now that it's been quoted three times.

My point remains though. The idea that the 360 is getting slaughtered in Europe is clearly misguided.

Well, you mentioned multiplatform games that MS advertised as for 360 only (Madden, GTA4)..and Halo 3. Halo 3 isn't available for PS3 obviously, so I am not sure how MS could have advertised it as anything else.

..... i didnt say there was anything wrong with them saying that, i was saying this situation with sony is no different then when microsoft did the one i posted, so to stop the bitching.

Ugh, Nintendo press conference already showed slides and hardware numbers that it's been Wii > PS3 > X360 in the major European territories [combined].

But at the same time, we don't have exact figures as to the marginal difference between the Wii and PS3 as well as between the PS3 and 360 like we do for the U.S. and Japan.

That's not what the graph said at all, but I'm afraid this thread has already been derailed enough. :lol

How about we stop talking about European sales numbers since no one on the internet has definitive monthly or lifetime sales for any country? Deal?

I see, so because you don't have any "hard" or "concrete" numbers you still have the ability to prognosticate that the the PS3 has only been outselling the 360 by a small margin. Here's the facts - with the exception of the UK, where the PS3 has since outsold the 360 since the inception of the 40GB model, the 360 has been continually and systematically getting slaughtered in sales for the rest of Europe.

lol, that slide was people who intend to purchase a console, and who knows where nintendo got there info from. Just becuase people intend to buy a console doesn't mean a purchase.

Where do you get this stuff from?

Edit: From what I recall, the sales-agers showed that it's inconclusive, but that the notion that the PS3 outsells the 360 in Europe is a myth; that the two are probably even in sales with the 360 possibly outselling the PS3 by a slight amount.

About all I know of is the January - September 07 data Iwata released that had the PS3 outselling the 360 during that timeframe by about 300k.

I just love how you criticize me for my simple prognostication (which means it's a guess, not a fact), and then you pull up some "facts" without any links or proof. :lol

Since it's obvious that you're getting bent out of shape by my choice of the words "small margin", I'll explain that I used those words because the difference in sales between the PS3 and 360 in EU is smaller in comparison to the difference in sales between the two systems in NA because of the relative size of the two markets. Hell, that 300k difference from Iwata between the PS3 and 360 this year in Europe (if true) was already wiped out by the September NPD.

There was another chart that showed week by week sales of the Wii versus PS3 versus X360.

I spoke to a few of the reps about the setup, and apparently they're taking it around to a few more locations throughout the next few weeks. The little red stacks next to the HD displays are very well-made Playstation promotional booklets. If you're in the London area, look for it at the Paddington Tube Station later this week.

Actually, to prognosticate means to predict, not guess. A prediction has conviction, a guess does not.
