Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

You need to show "wow" "Holy shit" games to win a conference, not exclusives. Or is Ubisoft not having their own console means they can't win

Ubi got their own "exclusive" line up, and what was "wow" and "holy shit" at MS's press conf?

It was horrible, tons of faceless indies and almost all of them were timed exclusives, I can accept Ubi or others winning but MS got almost nothing of their own.

WHERE 👏 IS 👏 SUCKER 👏 PUNCH

Didn't wanna believe it, But Sony also doing PSX every year may just be hurting there e3 show, The fact it was only one hour long was the real shock for me

I guess some people are easily impressed. That was one of the worst E3 press conferences I've ever seen. They announced nothing. All the conferences were bad up to this point.. but that takes the cake. Jesus.

I don't really get the hype for Ubi's conference. The best thing they had there was a (very cool) CGI trailer for a game coming god knows when, if it doesn't get outright cancelled again.

Sony's was light on the surprises but had a ton of gameplay to back it up. God of War and Spider-Man look incredible, as does the Uncharted The Lost Legacy. Plus there's bound to be stuff that didn't make it into the sizzle reel that'll get announced on the show floor.

When they say that everything is about the games then they better deliver better than this. PS5 must be close or Sony has truly lost it's edge right now. It was like they weren't even trying.

Bethesda and Ubisoft > Sony and Microsoft

Eh yeah the more I look backed at this, it does feel quite a letdown compare to last year especially.

I think this'd have been better as a 20 min pre-recorded vid if it was gonna be like this. Show 2 min compilations of gameplay/scenes instead of 10 continuous minutes of the same sequence where you do roughly the same things or just watch the story unfold slowly.

Uncharted/SoTC both did it well, I'd say, though Uncharted also dragged on for a lot longer than it should have and seems to reveal too much shit from the plot.
E: (like the preshow basically)

The best part of spooderman were the five seconds where he attacked three people by pulling the girdle. Everything else was Batman and the "action" sequence was so goddamn scripted :/

Most underwhelming conference for me, relative to expectations of course. I'm interested in Spider-Man and possibly God of War but I'm worried about how the combat is going to feel with the camera so close. Very forgettable presentation overall.

I'm attributing the response to conference end cynicism, but did people over hype themselves? Were there even any hints at DMC 5? or TLOU2? or From? etc

Lol what are y'all on about? That was a great press conference. Not perfect, but great.

Good presentation a lot of things missing that are available at E3. Nino Kuni, Gran Turismo, Nex Machina, Matterfall.

They were in the pre-show which was ridiculous by itself.

Uhhhhhh?

Microsoft
Lucky the Fox (lol)
Sea of Thieves (PC)
Crackdown (PC)
Forza7 (PC)
Cuphead (PC)

Sony
God of War
Days gone By
Shadow of the Collosus
Uncharted Stand Alone
Spiderman
Detroit

People saying Microsoft's conference was better are straight up trolling.

You’re being purposely obtuse. After years of begging, MS now makes games for all of their OSes and it’s somehow a bad thing.

Really was hoping to see RE2 Remake, a new From game, Sucker Punch (the hell are they working on??).

Also this wasn't much of a conference. More like a bunch of trailers with no presenters.

6/10.

I genuinely feel this is the worst conference they have put together since they started telecasting them. People say 2006 was bad but in reality that showing was loaded with a bunch of fantastic megatons including two new Final Fantasy games. This was... Well nothing really. No embarassing moments because barely anyone spoke. They just showed trailers for a bunch of QTE fests snd cut the lights. Nothing to even talk about. A boring showing is far worse than one with goofy mistakes.

People are like "finally no cringe!" like a cornball on stage wouldn't have brought some life to the conference

They were both so average that I wouldn't even hazard a pick. It's like trying to figure out which bathwater was more lukewarm. There is nothing wrong with lukewarm. There are plenty of games I want that were on both stages.

At least MS showed some weird indies and quirky small scale stuff.

Sony pre-show > Sony conference

I enjoyed that, Days Gone, Spidey & GoW looked amazing :-)

However it is now extremely late and I need sleep lol.

The Funny part is. Sony had 3 shows!

- Microsoft for the third party Games
- Pre-show for the indies, Vr and some new announcements
- E3 showcase for the blockbusters

Thats pretty much how i see it.

Why waste another hour for shit we already saw from other conferences.

They could have easily gone 2 hours and wasted our time with 3rd party stuff.

I've only seen MS's and now Sony's Conferences and while MS had a solid but not great conference their presentation was significantly better than Sony's in my opinion. Sony's Conference felt rushed and the VR stuff nearly put me to sleep. My excitement for the Xbox One X is off the charts. To each their own though, to each their own.

After the show was over you could tell the audience was like, are we sure that's it, I think there is more coming. Finally people slowly started getting up and leaving lol.

Not bad, not great either.

Order of games shown could be better.

Early 2018 is stacked of PS4 exclusives. Nobody would want to fight giant multiplats in holiday 2017 anyway.

This. They easily could have swapped a few games around to have a better steady build.

It wasn't a bad conference but I was left a little underwhelmed by it. Maybe we'll get more information in the coming days of the smaller announcements.

This conference would have been so much better had they shown Superhot, Ni no Kuni, Undertale, and a few other announcements from the pre-show on stage. They really needed some not-AAA titles to space things out.

I still think it beats Microsoft's though, at least I felt justified owning the hardware.

It's hard to follow Sony 15 & 16. 8/10

I think the general standard has risen across all conferences this year but it's been a good, not great E3.
