Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

Spiderman had too many QTEs and I didn't feel Days Gone either. Going into this I was moderately hyped, it's the sort of minor announcements like ports that get you going but this had none of that. Not one of Sony's best conferences.

Holy shit
LMFAO!!

I'm very disappointed that they relegated cool and fun stuff like NNK and the Until Dawn team game into the pre-show to make room for VR snooze-fests.

As a pretty big Sony fanboy who pretty much consider Sony as "winning" e3 for the last ten years or so, they kinda dropped the ball this year.

Don't get me wrong, the game they showcased were really appealing, but there's pretty much nothing new from last year. Felt like part two of last year , only without the wow factor and surprise of discovering these titles exist.

I guess it was to be expected. What they revealed last year were long to make, high quality productions who were going to take years to make... But having part two of last year felt meh. I mean , it's the kind of situation where if you were sold on these games the first time, you didn't really need to see more of it.

What I wanted was new stuff, stuff we didn't see before... Stuff like last of us gameplay, a new from software game, death stranding gameplay, maybe a couple new IPs that kick major ass... Not just extended look at last year's E3 games who I alreardy knew what I felt about have been on preorder for a year now...

Yeah E3 2018 will probably deliver instead. Good shit in the works like Death Stranding, TLOU2, Sucker Punch's game, etc.

It was entertaining. You guys are nuts. Give Sony a pass here. They have been delivering for years, and will continue to do so.

Everything can't always be bigger and better. Why can't we be happy with consistently things being good? This was a good conference.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Doesn't automatically make them crazy.

I would say a lot of the things were pretty mediocre. I didn't see much things that are for this year and PSX is so close to the end of the year I feel that the games that were closer to 2018 would've been better announced there.

Just a bad E3 overall. There isnt like one big surprise from any of the conferences that got me excited.

But to the conference that just aired. Why so short? It was like less than an hour. And can we get an update on SP and MM. Especially MM, yes I know they have announced dreams, but like when are they dropping a game again? LBP2 was the last console game they released and that was 2011. I know they are a smaller studio and they also had tearaway but still. I feel like we should have more of an update on what they are doing.

Gave MS a 4/10 yesterday. Feel like Sony should be similar if not a little worse. I'll go 3.5/10

It would of helped if they saved some last year stuff to this year.

Only games that got me super excited is the Rabid Mario X-Com type game which looks interesting. Wolfenstine 2 and Spiderman.

Yeah, I didn't enjoy the show as in the past few years but it was not bad. We got used to Sony dropping bomb after bomb and well, they can't do it every year. My hopes were too high.

What's kind of amazing is they didn't even capitalize on nostalgia by showing the Crash game. I just can't get over how different the tone was this year, it was so PS3.

Surely there were Japanese games they could have featured besides Monster Hunter.

They really hung fake bodies from the ceiling, didn't they

Weird conference. Like watching an audience in a movie theater watch trailers. I get the minimum talk approach but a bit of developer humanity on stage can go a long way towards demos leaving an impression.

I feel like those were some pretty neat games that they could've included. I mean seriously, how many people actually watched the preshow vs the actual conference

No. If they put on a good show, I'll applaud them. If they put on a bad show, I'll criticise them. This was a bad show, and that's coming from a life-long Sony fan. Just because they've had good shows the last few years does not exempt them from being criticised the one year they put on a bad show.

I'm a little confused why they stuck the new Ni No Kuni II trailer/release date in the pre-show. That would have been a nice addition.

No surprise it underwhelmed.

I told you guys that going nuts over the last one was dumb since they'd be showing those same games at next year's E3 and probably the year after as well.

You can only reach into the future for hype so far before you run into reality.

It was decent. Shadow of the Colossus was a surprise for me because I missed the rumour. Days Gone and Spider-Man demos were great.

Not as good as last 2 years but that was a crazy high bar.

It was rock bottom? Lmao

You didn't think it was interesting to see games like metro being unveiled? And all the other stuff like Black desert, Playerunknown's game, cuphead, ori, anthem or all the indie games? I don't care that these are 3rd party games, they add to the conference's entertainment level as a whole. To call it rock bottom is just hilarious to me and it kinda reeks of fanboyism and hate towards ms/ xbox.

Not arguing on the lack of MS 1st party announcements, they should've stepped up and so should sony have this year.

Eh, Sony threw in a couple more first party games even after the overload of last year in this, and you can buy just about every single one of those except cuphead and ori (which looks godly) on PS4. That conference was very much a PS4 show.

Preshow was a dumb idea. Whoever thought that was a good idea even if it's someone at the top needs to get stern criticism. There was zero upside to the preshow while it actively took away from their conference by showing shit that should have just been in the show.

No price cut no super slim
Nothing of expanding ps2 on PS4
No psone originals
No New big game besides Monsters Hunter that I never played
1 remaster of a game thats still gorgeous on ps2
2 dlcs
3 Very good gameplays of already revealed games

Ordinary to bad

6/10

One of Sony's weakest showings. Was zz'ing during it. I did like Days Gone and Spiderman was freaking amazing but overall, bad showing. Hopefully, Nintendo delivers because Sony and Microsoft have failed this year for me.

If someone wakes up from a coma and sees this press conference:
10/10.

If not, underwhelming is the word.

Shadow of the Colossus was the emotional point - together but less so with Monster Hunter - and Spiderman's gameplay was simply bananas.

The rest inbetween, even the top quality stuff that got displayed, was pretty much expected and none of the release dates contributed to some kind of wow factor.

So, pretty meh.

What was the point of having a press conference when all they did is show trailers back to back?

There was a little gameplay weaved in there, but it's like they were trying to save money on production costs or something.

I don't even care for all these execs and what not having to go up there just to introduce a clip, but there was nothing tying the show together between clips, no one talking about the games or what is new/different about their games.

I liked Bethesda having the animated "Bethesda Land" theme and Ubisoft did a great job of making it about their developers this year in a way that made me feel like they are passionate about the games they make.

Some good footage of games we already knew about but really middle of the road conference to me,

In terms of exclusive stuff I felt Sony blew Microsoft out of the water in quality and my personal interest in the games. I mean Crackdown looked like shit.

The conference was really great. All the games shown look like heaps of fun aside from the VR stuff. Plus, we still have PSX which makes up for the lack of big surprises. Overall 2017 will be packed with some fun exclusives which is all I can ask for.

Shadow of the Colossus omfg!!

Still, I have to admit I expected one or two more surprises, especially Sucker Punch. Good conference, though. Spidey and Kratos delivered.

I think this show was decent for 3rd party content. Hopefully psx will be better for indies and first party content. I imagine that's where we'll see price drops as well.

Skyrim VR though... Oh man, dreams are real :D

Sad to say, but Sony's worst conference in the last four years.
So... Ubisoft won E3? :/

How would Ubisoft win? The Mario Rabbids game was cool. Yet another AC game. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is god knows how far out from release. Just don't see how they would be considered the best conference?
