Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

Honest question - Why do people dislike Days Gone? I think it looks great! Like open world Uncharted :)

because its cool to say you are tired of zombies

but seriously, game looked cool, the TLoU comparison is lazy imo, but I can see how people would look it over, it didn't give me a "wow" moment just "ok that's cool".

i will buy it tho

The whole conference changed once MvCI was shown lol. I love Marvel vs Capcom but the cutscene they chose was dreadful. It would have been way better if they introduced a few new characters and showed some gameplay/tag combos.

As strange as it may sound some of us are interested in the VR stuff and want more games announced and shown. I don't know why you would care anyway, it not like the VR stuff stole anything away from a lackluster showing.
Suit yourself. I didn't say they'd have a stellar conference by combining but I just think it would have made for a better presentation as it's not diverse enough to split up between pre show and conference this year.

Really most of E3 sucked this year.

Posting this one last time for those continuously asking:

Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Everybody's Golf, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Yakuza Kiwami, Ni No Kuni II*, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Lands, Hidden Agenda, Gundam Versus, Knack 2 and Gran Turismo Sport are the exclusives for the remainder of 2017.

Feel like that conference was pretty rough.

They announced almost nothing new, most of the games they showed we already knew about and are 2018 at the earliest. Spider-Man was incredible, God of War looked pretty good, and SotC was probably the biggest gasp moment. Overall pretty disappointed with their show. It wasn't nearly on the same caliber as their conferences they've been having the past few years.

I feel all they had to do different would have been to announce FROM SOFTWARES new game and you'd all be gushing. A+ conference! 10/10! Dsuuj/12!! OMG best ever!

GAF, we still have TGS and PSX for more unannounced games!

I'm fully expecting a trailer for whatever Sucker Punch is working on. It's either going to open the show or close the show for PSX.

As for tonight's conference itself? It was a good show but compared to their last few conferences it's underwhelming and that is understandable because they can't keep dropping bijou bombs every E3.

Really want more of Days Gone and I believe they're going more in-depth later this week right? Also can't wait for more God of War!

Forgot my rating..... I'll give it a *thinking to himself* Where's Sucker Punch/10

I get it however E3 is the superbowl of gaming conferences, big announcements should be present here. I didnt feel any

I thought it honestly made MS's look barron in comparison. Especially considering what MS are trying to sell off the back of their conference (a new 500 dollar machine) i mean going into MS keynote i was expecting more games akin to what sony was showcasing in terms of big budget impactful epic trailers and gameplay demos that pushed graphics and animations to new heights... And i found it kinda weird that the guys making this super powered console are largely only showcasing third party indie games that could run on an old phone. It just seemed so backwards to me and i dont really understand what MS was thinking with that one.

sony was just relentless though. I think i read last E3 they had a 70/30 split for games and talking. This year must have been like what? 95/5? Thats all i want really. An onslaught of new content. I dont care about a new porche tbh *shrugs*

Also, the cool projections/snow/hanging bodies stuff was really impressive. Not orchestra levels of impressive, but cool non the less. I wanna see more of that!

They offically announced and gave a trailer for Knack 2?

Honest question - Why do people dislike Days Gone? I think it looks great! Like open world Uncharted :)

Other than that I though the conference was just OK. Although this is the first Spiderman game ever I actually care about. If it's open world and looks/plays like that it will be amazing!
I thought last year's demo was a lot more unique than this years. Options are cool and all but this years demo felt ripped right out of TLOU's playbook

I think the demo would have been stronger showing more of the open world

Could still be great but the demo was weak

Eh. That's pretty much all I can say about it.

I don't like Monster hunter that much but maybe Monster Hunter on PS4 will kill the Switch in Japan :^)

Some indie platformer stuff, Ace Combat 7, Maybe Knack 2, nothing else really up my alley.

If AC7 requires a PS4 Pro I'll be maaaaad.

Man, that was a pretty boring one for me. I was pretty excited, but that didn't really have much for me.

BTW, am I the only one who is looking at that zombie game and thinking that games with such realistic graphics need to stop having such dopey looking AI?
You're not the only one. We're branching into uncanny valley territory with AI these days.

Developers don't seem to want to make advances in this area which is why we're left with either tightly scripted experiences or massively multi-player games where they don't have to bother with it.

COD looks really out of place against all of the fantasy/scifi games in development for 2017/2018. I guess we'll see how big the "boots on the ground realism" audience really is, personally I think that franchise is headed for another big sales drop this year.

I mean that's kind of up to Sony. PSX was a huge success for them last year and I expect they will continue to use it as a launching pad for announcements where they've got all the focus

I joke about the Vita, but seriously, presentation was fine. It was about on par with Ubi and MS, PLUS most of the games they showed are coming this year or next instead of god knows fucking when, and that excites the hell out of me. Hallelujah!

It's just so weird they gave a huge spot to a title coming to XB1 (MHW), and nothing for Ni No Kuni 2 which is a defacto console exclusive (at least for now)...

Just weird.

No way this CoD doesn't outsell infinite warfare.

May have just been to keep the trailer internationally usable.

Been hoping the same thing man, i hope so. We know STEAM has 2 different server streams available already, one strickly for Germany, and one for the rest of the world. It does point to a censored and non-censored version. Fingers crossed! I just want the most Authentic WW2 shooter us gamers have ever had, thats all.

Sony had better content but weaker presentation.
Microsoft had better presentation but weaker content.
Both came off feeling flat for different reasons.

Bethesda's structure was the tightest out of everyone.
Ubisoft had the overall best show with a nice mix of surprise announcements and tight pacing.
EA remained tone deaf like always but people will keep opening their wallets for them so whatever.

I think Sony and MS have a similar problem which is all of the best looking stuff seems to be multi plat.

So while it's great to show some amazing looking games, everyone sort of shrugs and realizes they can get it anywhere.

I think Sony had a good enough show but is clearly paying the piper for throwing haymakers the last two years. Both in expectation setting and not having enough new stuff to show.

I thought it was a pretty weak showing overall but not necessarily bad. Expectations kinda got out of control given their last 2/3 E3s. So disappointing but still solid and probably still probably the best conference this E3 so far. Days Gone, God of War, Spiderman, and Shadow of the Colossus being the highlights.

This E3 in general has kinda sucked. Sony didn't announce anything new (outside of the SotC remake) and the same goes for MS (outside Forza 7...which is really a known quantity at this point) and with Nintendo saying all their stuff is 2017 I can't imagine there will be much revealed tomorrow either.

Thanks for this. Sony screwed up big time by not pushing many of these games to the fore at the presser. But I'm glad you posted this to show folks that Sony isn't lacking in exclusives. None of them are as strong as proper Sony 1st party IP (like a GT proper and the HZD and Uncharted stuff are dlc/expansions) but that is quite a list of exclusives.

What's coming the rest of the year, exclusive-wise?

I agree its up to sony which is why this conference fell flat in my opinion

Weird. I though that demo was great. In each direction he looked I kept thinking "I can go there"... I might be wrong, but I wasn't bored even for a second during that demo. And the atmosphere is just amazing...

Honest question - Why do people dislike Days Gone? I think it looks great! Like open world Uncharted :)

Because it looks like a game in an overdone genre and an overdone setting (one that's extremely similar to another major Sony first-party IP) and nothing we've seen so far makes it look particularly unique.

I get the feeling that a lot of people may warm up to it more as it approaches release, assuming it's actually good.

Very conservative approach. It looks like Sony looked at their release schedule and said if it wasn't coming out in 2017 or 2018, the game wouldn't be shown. Very Nintendo like, luckily Sony has 3rd party.
