Sony is lagging behind compared to Microsoft when it comes to their controllers.

Love the DS4.
Only thing i prefer on my X1 are the sticks...better grip.

I would love a DS4 elite or the custom option microsoft has going now. I just wont bother ordering a X1 controller

The battery life on the DS4, as repeated ad nauseum, sucks. I tend to game for long play sessions and have just relegated my controller to always being plugged into USB. It defeats the purpose of wireless, but now I never have to worry about a low battery indicator.

My second complaint about the PS4 is the L3/R3 are way too sensitive/have low travel to click in. Too many times have I "claw-gripped" and melee'd when not meaning to in games.

Okay this is definitely a complaint I share. I'll play for a couple hours and all of sudden my controller is dead. I'm glad I have two or whenever I got that notification I'd have to stop my gaming session.

My DS4 didn't broke yet, but I still prefer the old 360 controller. The awful battery is probably the worst thing about it. I'm actually glad that Microsoft decided to stick with the traditional batteries, because they lasted very long on my 360 and there were no issues with using rechargable ones.

But I prefer the DS4 to the XB1 pad by a large margin.

I was hoping the Xbox S would have an improved design but it looks the same.

I cant do asymmetrical thumbsticks, so Sony wins by default.
This. It's always been the major difference between these two controllers for me.

Also tried to play the Lego Batman demo at a local GS and nearly broke my index fingers trying to hit the L1 and R1 buttons. Placement of those things on the regular XBO controller are bad, IMO.

I'm always amazed to see these pop up and wonder just how common it truly is. I almost feel lucky that my Elite bundled one is perfectly fine (please don't jinx!) since November, but then I remember there's a certain common % of defect that is standard within most industries and wonder what the numbers are. You'll more commonly see complaints than heralds.

i'm on my second one, the first one i bought had left stick drift out of the box so i returned it right away

but second one is good so far (~3 months)

I've felt that dualshock4s work nicely for the most part but even the vanilla XBO controller is on another level for me. There's some converters to make the XBO controller work on the PS4, I'll probably try one someday.

Both controllers do this. Honestly, they're both fine to me. I can alternate between them seamlessly.
They do now (my first XB1 controller didn't without an adapter, the Lunar I have now does out of the box) - and it's a good thing. After trying the feature I want all media controllers / remotes to have this built in.

Ergonomically I like the DS4 a lot, though I'm not as down on the Xbox One controller as some are here either. I like both equally, which is a huge step up given that the DS3 was one of the worst controllers ever made.

Battery power on the DS4 is the hottest garbage though, which is only compacted by the fact the charging cable is like an inch long.

I actually like the face buttons, stick deadzones and handles better on the DS4, but Xbox One is better overall..

I really liked the Logitech Cordless Precision controller for the PS3. It had a lot more heft to it, and was larger and more spaced out.

Too bad Logitech stopped making console controllers (not including wheels).

"I hate going from my elite to the DS4 it feels like crap"
Oh really your $150 controller feels better than your $40-$60 controller you dont say.

I do appreciate that Microsoft is giving people all kinds of choices with there controllers though since they cant seem to get there core controller figured out quite yet and they are on there third(?) revision.

I prefer the xbox controller, they just feel more comfortable in my hand then the dualshock controller. Not to mention they feel sturdier.

I wish sony would also move toward native ps4 controller support ont he pc, that's another big reason many people use the xbox controller, you just hook it up and go, ps4 has way too many issues with the controller on pc.

My only complaint with DS4 is battery and they feel a little cheap.

I guess 8hr battery is a long enough time, but I'm used to a 360 controller where I swap batteries a couple times a week.

I don't even feel that the elite should even be in the discussion. It's pretty much outside of the rational price range for a controller, unless you are simply knocking them for not having their own elite controller.
This. Knock Sony for lack of options if you want but it's unfair to compare the DS4 vs the $150 Elite. That's like comparing my VW Jetta vs an A8 Audi. They're not competing.

In terms of a brand new controller, to me Ps4 >>>> X1. The peeling of the sticks is pretty awful though. I have 2 controllers, both launch, and both starting peeling within a year. Not sure if Sony has even fixed that problem yet, but outside of that I love the controller, dont see really any other flaws with it.

Both controllers are great. Youth today don't know they're born. The controllers we used to have to use back in the day .......

I will say this, though, say what you will about the controllers themselves, at least the DS4 stays connected to its damn console. My XB1 disconnects from its controller so frequently it's infuriating, and the controller has a clear line of sight, is updated in its firmware, and there's no other interference other than a Wi Fi network. The real culprit is just shitty build quality from the console or controller.
