The real thing I hear from indies over and over again is, "We want things to be easier, we want to get onto these consoles more easily." Sounds like that's what you're going after. Do you have any more targets in your sights?
I think the key for us is continue going -- PAX is a perfect example. Sitting down with people in the Indie Mega Booth and being like, Why aren't you on it? And the fact that, again, that I have a game development background and the Mark Cernys of the world and all of our different HQs are so mindful of this, how do we make it easier?
Because, yes, the big games are critical and important, but at the same time, the creators are always going to be born and raised out of smaller projects. So it's just continue to listen, and as soon as you stop listening and stop caring about them, then they go away. So we're just going to be laser-targeted on that for very many years.
PS4 has too many games.
Are they applying this plan for the PS3 and Vita NOW though?
PS4 HAZ 2 MANY GAMES
PS4 has too many games.
I think they did more than that. If I'm not mistaken. Hotline miami, luftrauser, spelunky, limbo, and probably mamy other indie are not being ported by original developer. There's another studio that handle the portingThis quote really struck me. They are really aggressive going after indie developers. Seems they may be contacting as many developers as they can about their platforms.
This seems not only smart, but a realization of the natural progression of things in the video game market. I guess this also answers the question, "Why have a touch pad on the controller?" as this keeps that door open for indie devs that make touch input games as well. Those kinds of games don't personally interest me, but it does indicate an inclusive mindset from Sony regarding PS4, and that's a good thing. Also, more freedom equals more ingenuity on the part of developers.
This is great news.
I can't be the only one who's a bit nervous by all the good news, no? I'm still anticipating the Achilles heel for the ps4. :/ dammit

Nah, I feel the same way. It's hard to believe that Sony can nail all of these things almost perfectly without making some serious misstep.
With every bit of good news, my stomach tightens in fear of bad news. Really bad news.
what pretense is there for this exactly? they've been hitting all the right notes for the past few years now. just be excited![]()
It'll probably be the price. Even if the system itself isn't that expensive, I kinda expect a tiered online system with a significant monthly fee if you want all the bells and whistles, like video streaming and such.I can't be the only one who's a bit nervous by all the good news, no? So if it's, hey, these guys are developing content for Vita, and we like the team, so we send them Vita kits as loaners for free. Or waiving patch fees for independent developers, if they need that support, then we're totally behind it.
This seems to only affect SCEA. SCEEurope is still asking for concepts and all that shit.
"it is coming"more than words Sony, fix the PSM
You even have to get your game approved separately in the EU zone. Luckily Sony is very friendly and helpful so it doesn't sting some devs as much as the XBLA process that is worldwide in approval.
If that's true, then it's a massive shame. We could see some really interesting independent stuff coming out of Europe. And better still, Japan. I really hope this becomes a SCEW thing - I thought they were going to put an end to this geographical separation a few years back.
Getting back to Japan - why haven't we seen much downloadable indie stuff from them this generation on any platform? I'd have thought that's where all the best downloadable stuff would have come from if you'd asked me at me back in 2005.

Talk about missing the point. Super Meat Boy on PS3 was shot down because of concept approval. It's entirely unneeded.

This is a joke, right? Why wouldn't they just share the same processes between SCEA and SCEE?
