Sony Knows

More people in a party.

I find the rest irrelevant, I even find irrelevant the one I choose but at least it'd be handy.

I would prioritize folders, psn name changes and classics myself at least (and the wishlist but I think that's coming already). These seem like the most important just in terms of features that have been requested.

Also hoping they'll boost that ps2 list. So many things missing from the classics still

While my priorities would be an appear offline mode, and delete/hide/organize library choices, sony need to fix the names as primary keys issue. I feel bad for people that registered a name they no longer like/want but are tied to it due to purchases. I know it's a lot of work, and potentially psn downtime, but that's really insane. Early 2000s or not I can't believe that decision was ever made.

I want ps1/2 compatibility too, but it's just not as pressing.

Notifications for when friends come online and being able to download avatars on PS4 are what I'm hoping for first.

Name change please. It's ridiculous. Playstation is the only gaming service I know of that doesn't do this.

Appear offline would be nice too. Everything on that list would be.

PS2 Classics are my number one want. I don't want to plug in my PS3 to play those anymore. A lot of the other things are pressing to some people, and they would be nice, I just really want to play Nocturne and Raidou and Suikoden 3 on my PS4.

Already made a new account because I got tired of waiting to be able to change my ID. Lame, but I guess good for those with more patience than me. But to be fair, I waited like 4-5 years for it. :p

The other stuff though... hnng.

I would take PS1/PS2 over anything else, as all of the other stuff is basically just convenience...not that I wouldnt want it, just PS1/PS2 first

EDIT: I would alo take a PS3 library over everything

For those who know about name changing on the XBox, does it change the name automatically on other people's friend and ban lists? I hope so since I don't want to re-enter them if someone switched it.

Lol @ none of these option.

For me its:

- Notify when friends are online (or set friends to favourite so you're not bombarded with pop ups)
- Appear offline
- Folders
- Custom backgrounds
- Store wish list
- Delete items from library (i.e. demos and betas)

Obviously not all going to come at once, but some of this stuff is so basic its really puzzling why its missing in the first place.

Of course they know. Everyone keeps tweeting/making new threads here or elsewhere regarding these things. It's good to see something about it from their side though, even though it's just a suspicious looking survey. I'm glad that it's not 'if' they'll implement those features anymore, but a question of 'when'.

Vita survey when

Feel free to leave your suggestions!

EVERYTHING!!!!!

Seriously though,

# 1 for me is Folders
# 2 is custom Backgrounds
# 3 is PS2/PS1 emulation

The rest I could wait for, but honestly should be here already...

like...not being able to change your PSN is baffling

dudes out there having XxXEliteSniper69XxX as a name still because they thought it would be cool and people would be jealous during the CoD4 era of them are now burning on the inside

no that's not my username lol
apparently it's due to the way sony built their database, all your content/purchases are tied to your sony id, rather than a connected invisible identifier used in an xbox live account, for example.

Fucking hell, a lot of those, if not all, should've been there day one. Even not day one, they should've been added in the last couple of firmware updates. Friends notifications? Download avatars on PS4? Folders? Come one Sony.

Launch firmware needs to be bulletproof. It's better to limit feature creep and focus on nailing lean mean firmware when you're about to launch to millions of people across the world Every added feature creates more dependencies and more points of failure and it only takes one missed bug to start having lots of new users complaining and hurting launch momentum. There is plenty of time to add features later.

Now, sure, it's been long enough that I agree we should start seeing more features, but expecting them all at launch or shortly after is a bit much.

Edit - fixed your/you're. ugh.

Thanks for this, it is refreshing to see some software engineering and planning brought up instead of "Sony OS developers are incompetent and lazy" :).

disc support is just totally unrealistic IMO
Why do you feel it's unrealistic? Isn't MS supporting 360 discs on the XBox One? Didn't Sony support ps1 discs all the while selling classics on the PS3?

Sony didn't support discs when they had ps2 classics on PS3, but that's probably because the classics emulator couldn't handle most popular ps2 games. Presumably the PS4 can handle the emulation much better.

Not necessarily. PS3 supports PS2 Classics but disc versions of those games don't work (unless you have a launch model of course)

Unless you know something that I don't, the most recent models of the PS3 can play disc based PS2 games through emulation but Sony have opted to lock out disc support because of how unreliable the emulator is and only officially support the meager offering of PS2 classics. As it stands, people have gotten many PS2 games to run on PS3 after figuring out how to run non supported discs on the emulator.

So it is simply a matter of whether or not Sony gates off support for discs, which makes some sense on the PS3 but would probably not make much sense on the PS4 unless they have a great deal of trouble with emulating PS2 games. Either way, my statement stands. If the system can play a digital file through emulation, then it can also play the disc unless Sony specifically stops it.

Got a PS survey (invite only). They ask for suggestions in a blank box but toward the end this popped up. Looks like they've been paying attention to what people have been asking about.

Gift me a game if already posted.

edit: :sad face: at lack of gifting games tick box.

edit 2:

What should I tick for second one? xD

FOR GODS SAKE EVERYBODY CLICK ON FOLDERS!!!!

If this amounts to anything more than a PR trick then hopefully there are looking at upgrading the PS4's hardware (wifi / build quality) soonish not just the software.

Oh, I entirely agree with you. I wasn't questioning whether it was possible, simply whether Sony wanted it to happen. It will be a financial decision rather than a technical one. I hope they make the right choice, but in not entirely confident they will, sadly.

In what world is asking people what they want a "PR trick"?
