Sony needs to improve PS4 shipment in NA

Aren't the units that are sold in Japan also produced in Japan? The ones that are sold in the US are made in China. So I wonder how much impact the Japanese launch has on the supply in the US.

Amazon keeps teasing me. Most times I refresh, nothing......and then bam, all the sudden the $399 one pops up, but add to cart and get nuffin. :P

Wonder how much Sony is allocating to Japan.

500K?

That's the big question and I'm sure they are trying to be very careful about it. Japan is the most unenthusiastic large VG market for home consoles. They will have pre-order data to go on but above that it's likely estimating demand. They would rather every console made gets sold so I doubt they push too many unit to Japan. I would say 500k is a good guess though.

GOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!!!

Kept refreshing every few minutes on Amazon and it popped up and finally was able to add it to cart. Ships between Feb 27th and March 3rd!!!!! YAY.

Congrats. You might get one earlier if someone's credit card info doesn't go through that already ordered.

Thanks. You are the one who gave me the idea to keep checking Amazon frequently....so I thank you kind sir.

Weird how they put it up and pull it down so frequently. Do they do that because after they process, someones card might not go through so they put it back on the market?

No problem. That is usually how it works. That is the reason why the system goes in and out of stock, because if someone orders and then cancels or their credit card info doesn't go through it's usually put back up for sale. Usually the units go so fast you have to keep refreshing to be able to get one when that happens.

Steve Youngblood, I'll have you know, works at an Amazon distribution center and runs around screaming with warpaint on his face and a sledgehammer smashing palettes of PS4s. It is a sad truth but we on the moderation team have been trying to help by offering yoga therapy.

Does he update the stock levels after smashing the palettes of PS4s or is someone else going in after to take stock of the situation?

The warpaint on the face leaves me to believe this is premeditated and not a crime of passion.

I hope GalacticaN7 isn't expecting that PS4 anytime soon.

Do what you will with the box, but so help you if that pile of tech on the inside is damaged!!!

I would just go on a sad walk and wallow in self pity.

Already found footage of you

you had me until yoga therapy

Had huge problems finding mine when I was there in January 14th. I am about to stay in Brazil until the World Cup ends and was worried about not bringing a PS4 with me. The ridiculous price here is US$ 1.500,00.

Sleep Deprivation Therapy would work better. :)

This just gets better and better. Just got an email from Amazon saying that it'll arrive between Feb 21st -25th instead of 27th-3rd of March.

Thank you based Amazon.

I think it's safe to say PS4 world wide demand so far has exceeded expectations, so I'm going to predict the same thing will happen in Japan. I'm not speaking from actual data other than what I read on GAF, but I'm going to guess the Japanese people have been seeing what's going on around the world and will want in on some of that PS4 goodness too.

So in other words, after the initial shipments, you won't be able to find a PS4 anywhere in Japan.

With Wii U doing so badly and PS3 on the way out I'm wondering if it'll surprise people as well. I certainly hope there can be atleast one decent selling console over there.

There's one Target close to work and one Target close to my house that I frequently go to (I'd say between the two locations I go 3-4 times a week). There was about 3 weeks straight in January where supply didn't seem to be a problem at all. And by that, I mean that over about 10 visits, I always saw at least 2 units sitting on the shelf. It was never sold out. However, for most of February they seem to be unavailable.

Tax return time. People have money to buy things now. This is actually a bad month to be out of supply.

Its hard to improve the shipments of something that sells as fast as you can manufacturer then...especially with needing to allocate enough for the JPN launch this month...

That goes on all the way through to April really. Some people are lazy. Me and my wife though had our return in a week ago lol. Prob first day it was available. Money money money!

I'll go ahead an throw a guess out there of 500K sold out first day. You never know, Somy could have some internal projections much higher and try to allocate all they can.

So .... No I will go for broke, 750K

Well based on this and them making 1.4 million a month that would mean at the end of January they would have been at 5.6 million, so by the end of February if they keep producing 1.4 million a month they could be at 7 million. That's insane since they are still selling almost everything they produce.

Chinese New Year means factories will have diminished capacity for 2 weeks which means one of these months (I think February) is not going to be 1.4 million units.

Yea, my delivery got bumped up to February 18th from the 21st. Looks like I'll be picking up Strider on Tuesday then.

Interesting. So maybe they'll end up producing close to 1 million instead of 1.4 depending on how many the Japanese factory pumps out monthly.

-PlayStation 4 takes lead in next generation consoles

But but but...demand fell off a cliff.

The rumors have been 1m in China and 400k in Japan, so depending on how low production goes in those 2 weeks, the minimum should be 500k in China and 400k in Japan right? so Production would be between 900k-1400k

shit shit shit so tempting but I really don't want to buy when there's just a few games I'm interested in out now.
I just grabbed one . Tired of calling stores around town. It should be here Wednesday . Should I get a service plan from amazon ,sony or none at all?

Yeah that sounds about right. We also don't know if they already had the PS4 inventory locked up sitting in a warehouse somewhere or those will be taken from January/February numbers. I would assume those systems would have been made in January at the latest.

It really depends on what games you are looking for. I'd say if you want Infamous or Drive Club to go ahead and get one if money is not an issue. The price won't go any lower this year most likely.

Congrats. Warranty is more about piece of mind than anything else. Personally, I never buy warranties, but usually if something like this breaks it will be within the manufacturer warranty. If you want to get one I'd compare costs of the warranties and also read the small print to see any stipulations.
