Sony no longer making AAA PS Vita games

Thought this was a bump of an old thread for a second.

I guess it's news that he publicly said it straight out, but Vita owners have known this for a long time.

Scares me to think some companies wont even bother with localizing anymore...

Please namdai just bring digimon cyber sleuth over and we'll love you again... Or port it to PS4.

The only games I got from Sony for the Vita were Gravity Rush, SSD, and Freedom wars. I have close to 20 others and another 20 or so announced for the system that I want. If I get even half of them then I'll have bought more games for my Vita than any other system. Pretty sure I'll be fine without Sony doing anything.

Sure I'll miss it when there's no Vita successor but I'm betting the devs making games for it will jump to Nintendo's next handheld.

That was already known, I think. Anyways, a shame, Vita could have been such a great system. I love the hardware and some of the early games it got.
NIS/Atlus/Xseed are doing the heavy lifting anyway.
Exactly why the Vita lost all of its appeal to me.

It's getting World of Final Fantasy.

Also it's fine if Sony don't make AAA, I just want the Japanese games to be localised. Please give us Cyber Sleuth!

All I want Sony to do for the Vita at this point is encourage and assist 3rd parties in localizations for the system .

It's not too much to ask and there should be some degree of responsibility here.

Seriously if this is a legacy console and what now they need to cut those memory cards in half. I can't imagine the future of this machine dealing with out of print vita cards.

That occurred to me the other day, can you imagine the markup on 32 and 64gb cards when they stop producing them?

Is Gravity Rush 2 still a thing though? :(

Edit: OK, so long as it sees the light of day as a PS4 release, then I'll be OK.

Sun rising in east, setting in west.

Vita is a great indie machine for me. Games like Terraria and rogue legacy really shine on there.

I'm ok with that.

Totally. And still getting modern classic indies like Super Meat Boy. It's a 2D monster in an era where 2D games are having a revival.

I wonder what happens to all the managers or crew members in charge of the Vita department of Sony?

Do they just sit inside all day relaxing? Do they just walk around the building waving hello to people?

"Hey man, shouldn't you be working?"
"Don't have to. I work for the Vita department so every day is free".
"Wow. Here I am just scrubbing floors for a living."

Seriously what does Sony have to lose at this point with the memmory cards. My 8 GB barely holds three games. MLB is a must for me and that takes up almost half my card. Slash the prices Sony

I thought the same after the PSP did not perform that hotly in the US, but i guess that whatever success it had (specially in Japan) warranted a successor.

Yeah, but whats the WW totals( or even Japan's) for Vita? Psp by itself sold 80 millions consoles, I'm not even sure if the 3ds and Vita combined break that mark. Maybe they release something for Japan, but I cant see Sony releasing a successor in the west....

This E3 proved Vita and Wii U are deader than dead.

At least Nintendo had the decency to acknowledge the Wii U and show us some type of first party games coming to the platform. Sony on the other hand didn't even show us a minute of screen time dedicated to the Vita.

But hey, what can we do?

One of my favorite handhelds ever. Never been much of a fan of AAA games, but I still can't believe how fast they gave up on this system. It was never pushed. The memory card prices have always been ridiculous and they are still ridiculous. Slash the prices already, how many are they really selling? Wouldn't want people to buy too many digital titles huh? Makes sense....

While it hurts a bit to know this, it isn't the reason I bought a Vita in the first place. I got a Vita for the same reason I bought a PSP; The fantastic library of niche jrpgs and smaller titles. Companies like NISA, Atlus, and especially XSEED made the PSP one of my favorite portables and continue to do god's work with the Vita. The indies on Vita also help it.

Big 1st party games on it would have been great, but I'm not really sweating it. In fact, I don't think any sane person expected Sony to do much with it on a 1st party level.
