"safety and moderation"
aka banning
aka banning
Exactly. Unfortunately for some, critical reading comprehension is a trait that escapes them.Wait a second, this doesn't say sony is doing it, just other users. It is correct for them to point this out as the information could easily be recorded and shared. That's the point of the share button.
I think this is just a reminder to watch your mouth. I assume chat will be opt in rather than opt out now.
There are dum-dums that are making videos about this too.At least you reread it and got it.
This is what I took it to meanI dont think its Sony doing the recording , its other people in the chat with you that can record and send ..I have to get into a party to test it out
Seems like the recordings can be used to get you banned.
How strict are they?Well yeah of course they can lol
Why not save those conversations for your therapist or irl friends. How strict are they?
Can I assume gender?
I can say that there are only 2 genders?
That Kyle Rittenhouse did nothing wrong?
Lol this I'd be concerned if I had friends to speak toBig nope, but I'm antisocial and don't play online anyway.
What is the bad news here? This is the most consecutive string of bad press I've seen Sony get since the PS3. The hits just keep coming.
I know the answers to those questions, and so does the us legal system. I'm curious what Sony thinks of them. Why not save those conversations for your therapist or irl friends.
There is a lot of outrage online over the update. People are upset because they can be recorded, can't create single person parties, among other things. What is the bad news here?
i'm tired, i'm missing the controversy?
other players in your party chat have always been able to record your voices in gameplay footage. has this changed from being defualted off to defaulted on, and that's what people are complaining about?
Who is doing the recording in this screenshot....There is a lot of outrage online over the update. People are upset because they can be recorded, can't create single person parties, among other things.
That was my understanding at least. Am I wrong?
But now they are saying they will take those recordings, review them for any bannable indiscretion, and keep them on file for as long as they want. Also, with this language, they would be legally fine to record you should they choose.I believe this was already happening. Say another user is recording their playthrough and they post that playthrough on twitter, youtube, or twitch then your voice could be on that video
Sony's game system is a private affair...they can impose whatever rules they want. Maybe leave your agenda at the door and just play games.I know the answers to those questions, and so does the us legal system. I'm curious what Sony thinks of them.
I just can’t wait to see the guidelines on how they are going to decide the length of a ban. It is kind of nutty that they are turning themselves into the judge, jury and executioner.
This new internal policing department will have to hire an army of language specialists from all different backgrounds to ensure they can capture all the different culturally and regionally specific nuances of insults and swear words. Lol.
I wonder what is in it for Sony except scoring some popularity points with the PC crowd and appear like they are trendy.
Must suck not having friends to game with. This is unacceptable. I never used this feature but it's ridiculous.
Good, then we can ban the toxic people who say bannable thingsBut now they are saying they will take those recordings, review them for any bannable indiscretion, and keep them on file for as long as they want. Also, with this language, they would be legally fine to record you should they choose.
You're getting yourself banned for being an asshole. The recording is just there as proof that you did what someone said you did. If you didn't do anything you won't be banned despite if someone claims you did. It is no different from say GAF where someone can report you by clicking the report button.
Seems like the recordings can be used to get you banned.

See my edit. If Sony's enforcing any political agenda when using voice chat, I'd want to know about it.Sony's game system is a private affair...they can impose whatever rules they want. Maybe leave your agenda at the door and just play games.
oh they know, but you know...fud as alwaysReading comprehension?
The official text is just a get-out clause so they aren't responsible if someone records you while saying naughty things in party chat and gets you "cancelled" or whatever as a result.
Basically, its a boilerplate "we imply no privacy in chat" declaration.
You can frame a system to protect civil discourse as political if you wish. A gaming system chat function isn't where you get constitutional protections for your speech. If you have such concerns, no gaming console chat function with be suitable for you.See my edit. If Sony's enforcing any political agenda when using voice chat, I'd want to know about it.
its so funny how some of you want to keep this narrative that sony is on the same shitpool that ms on 2013 ,its delusional and laughlable at the same timeMy how the 2013 tables have turned
Mod of War
Can we have this added to Calverz comment?
It clarifies it a bit and it's a direct link to the twitter account.
Thank you.
Nothing concern troll about it.
Maybe they should have been more clear in the first place.
Fucking sad that they have to clarify what is perfectly clear already.
Sony got the camera and now openly admit to recording voice chats this gen?
Wtf man?!
Make more threads about it....but this thread is ridiculous.People are upset over more than just the recording aspect from what I am seeing.
Yeah I meant sad that Sony has to clarify...OP needs a timeout for stirring obvious shit. It's there for those that need it. It really should be in the OP.
Seeing this from the OP makes you think it's something else.
"By particapating in voice chats you agree to your voice being recorded." Why is it worded explicitly that way? Sounds like they (Sony) can do whatever they like with that disclaimer.
