Sony Panicking Over PS5 Overheating Issues

I think this is ridiculous, considering rumor is based on a YouTube comment. Plus what is there to overheat? Both Zen2 and RDNA are very efficient architectures, 8 core Ryzen 3700X which has higher base clocks than PS5 or Xbox Series X and has 4.2Ghz boost doesn't hit more than 65C on stock cooler. Same with RDNA, it's cooler than similarly powered Nvidia GPUs.

Members of this organisation should be reported to the authorities to be banned forever. Consoles wars are what we enrolled for and we are all ready to be proudly embarrassed for our favorite console any day of the week... The losers get to eat salty crows.

But what about... zen and Eckhart Tolle?

So I saw the guy who first made the tweets about PS5's "heating issue" and then saw Jason Schrier's take down of this guys anti PS history online.

It's actually sad.

Me lleva el diablo!
FUCK
Another XBOX 360????

I never buy consoles on launch anyway. Wait a couple months to see if they have problems. In general I always had enough games to play that I waited till revisions like the ps3 slim etc. before I even got new gen systems.

Me too, i dont get it why the rush to launch this console, we have the covid problem... cant just delay and fix the fucking console???

It's only FUD because you don't want it to be true. Maybe they figure out a design around this. Who knows. The fact that the PS4 Pro is as loud as an F-15 taking off in your living room does lend some credibility to this, though...

Your recent report has been resolved: Post in thread 'Rumor - PlayStation 5 Is Reportedly in Serious Trouble' - Thread closed, thank you.

Goodbye

Discord Cult at it again. So most of the posters will go on my ignore list. Is there a limit to that list since there are a lot of FUD spreaders here.

I've just unsubscribe to Rich. The guy is braindead.

Watch, alll those MEN trying so hard to create a new RROD with ZERO evidence. I advice those MEN to have anal sex. If those MEN are into wild numbers, they'll love that.

Why isn't there WOMEN at the very center of those rumors based on wind? Those MEN (including the PR guy from MS) really have an issue with the size of their dicks.

What are you talking about?

Seems legit. That totally unbiased website/people.

I get where you are coming from, but as far as I have ever heard Jez and Windows Central are not really known for petty console war bullshit. They have their preference, but I do not recall them ever stooping to straight up FUD levels of reporting. I still take this all with a huge amount of salt, but just because it came from them doesn't mean I outright discredit it as console warrior shit. Also I do not want this to be true. No one should want this to be true.

Goodness the Xbox fans are stooping to all sorts of desperate lows making stuff up to try and turn the tide.

Whats FUD? I keep seeing that but i'm not hip and down with the kids.

Examples

Microsoft
From the 1990s onward the term became most often associated with Microsoft. Roger Irwin said:[10]

Microsoft soon picked up the art of FUD from IBM, and throughout the '80s used FUD as a primary marketing tool, much as IBM had in the previous decade. They ended up out FUD-ing IBM themselves during the OS/2 vs Win3.1 years.
In 1996, Caldera, Inc. accused Microsoft of several anti-competitive practices
In 2000, Microsoft settled the lawsuit out-of-court for an undisclosed sum, which in 2009 was revealed to be US$280000000

This rumor is logically conducive, does that make it true? No, but is it within the bounds of extreme probability? Yes. Them being cryptic for months is odd, them revealing everything about it while not showing it is odd. The console running at the frequency it does is odd. Does Sony have a history of producing loud and hot consoles which prioritize sleek form over function? Yes.

The only real reason I can make heads or tails of as to why they would reveal the full specifications and not show it is because they are having thermal issues, and they have not yet landed on a proper cooling and housing solution. They can't show you something which doesn't exist yet.

It makes sense, again that doesn't mean it's true, but it still makes a lot of sense.

Rich went from this humble fat tech dude to total Drama Queen because it sells. I used to watch him all the time and I actually remember that one day he made a hot take on some company and it went viral and I think thats when he made a turning point in his content creation. It wouldn't be such a problem if he then didn't have to come back 48 hours later to apologize for believing a false Reddit rumor. he just wants to be the first to report about it.

You are trying so hard. Lol.

"How can I not sound like a fanboy but still try and spread misinformation about PlayStation?"

This is the problem with you people, you dismiss as if it's not even a possibility when it very well can be one.

Again, doesn't mean it's happening, but it could be. Get a grip on reality.

Xbox could be having RROD issues with Xbox Series X and are planning to ship them anyway. T
Doesn't mean it's happening, but it COULD be happening.

They can still drop a OS update to drop clock speed once the overheating problem becomes problematic.

And if articles with industry sources come up about that, why not post them here for discussion too?

Well considering journalistic third parties have hands on with it, have extensively used it, they've seen it in operation as have we; I'm going to say no.

The same cannot be said of Sony's machine. Logic has to be conducive, what you've said isn't, the former is.

" Reports say current PS5 design is failing due to overheating and compare it to the Xbox 360's dreaded RRoD thermal issues. Now we understand why the PS5 devkit has massive ventilation."

Well that developer kit was in devs hands for a while now. Wouldn't it be safe to assume that since then they had enough time to redesign the cooling system and the chassis?

"The heat problems may force Sony to redesign system's current cooling and chassis design."

That's where this part gets me.

Also OP the article doesn't say that Sony is panicking over this. That's something you added yourself. Could you please match it to the articles headline?

Headline:
PlayStation 5's rumored heat issues should be solved in final console

Uh, so is it just me or is there an obvious increase in spreading of misinformation in FUD by Xbox fans these past few weeks steadily increasing as time goes on?

To be fair it isn't impossible.

Just showed up in my Google Feed. Thought I would share.
what were you searching in your google feed? Bad news for ps5? How to Frame Xbox in the best position possible? How to spread literally fake news 101?

The Microsoft propaganda is in full swing. Since the Series X announcement and more-so since the PlayStation 5 GDC talk, it's literally been FUD. You couldn't write how biased some of this shite is. How the fuck do Microsoft have information about Sony having manufacturing issues? Cerny seemed very impressed with the PS5 cooling solution, I trust him and his judgement.
I'm glad people are starting to see what's going on here.

If that were the case they would have to drop it down to 'meme' levels of compute, and I doubt they want to do that. If this is true they're likely trying to figure out a way to cool it effectively and build a form factor around it which would delay a showing.
To be fair it isn't impossible.
Sure it's not, there's just no credence to suggest it from any direction whatsoever. There's a distinction.

Things have to make sense, the topic at hand makes sense, there's nothing to suggest that does.

Actually, the devkit design was quite clever and could cool well enough the console. It was ugly (at least to my taste, though), but it did the job well. Same thing happened to the PS4: massive devkit, but cool enough to run silent and for hours and hours.

ps4_devkit.jpg

If they've kept the devkit design (which is nice imho), the PS4 wouldn't have had all the overheating issues it has.

But hey, that's just me. Some people prefer looks over functionality.

Google Feed is a screen to the far left home screen on Pixels and gives you suggested articles/sites based on previous searches and browsing history. It had this article along with other stuff related to PS5 and XBox since I was reading up on the spec reveals for both the week GDC was supposed to happen. I had other articles including one about a deep dive into the PS5 specs and Cerny's presentation.

If the PS4 had massive overheating issues like the 360 did I would have heard about it. The most that I've heard is that the console is loud and that doesn't necessarily mean it's suffering from massive overheating issues.

Well thermal issues =/= overheating issues, overheating basically results in a hardware failure of some kind. Thermal issues just means it's getting hot and as such something like a fan working overtime can handle it, but then there's an induction of noise which becomes another issue itself.
