Sony PlayStation Experience conference/key note dated

That's 1pm EST so I'll just be studying for exams. Perfect!

If they announce PS2 emulation with platinum trophies (like GTA SA) then I'll be quite satisfied.

Getting lots of sweet stuff just in case we get a high level of salt during the stream.

It's... 2 am for me.
Good thing it's during the weekend or else I'm going to screw work.

Yeah, I was all excited about the time, but I realized I haven't thought much about time zones since I've moved recently... And then I calculated that it's at 3am on Sunday for me. I really want to watch it live, blah.

5am Sunday for me. I might just do it.

Game was planned for release during November, but Nov. has passed, earliest they could release is it would've been this week or the next. Since PSX '15 will have a lot Sony console owners watching, Sony and SEGA likely want to use it to give the game a little more exposure.

Furthermore 2 Yakuza games were made digitally available on PSN during PSX '14.

so you're just guessing? :D it was probably just delayed and will release sometime next year...

Things a want to see:

1) PSX & PS2 games in PS4
2) Some UI changes (like folders)
3) FFVII R
4) Bench new game
5) GOW 4
6) Third party exclusive-colaboration (bloodborne type)

I'd be over the moon if they announce a Demon's Souls remaster.

Everything else would be a bonus.

Eh me and the rest of YakuzaGAF ;)
HOWEVER, review copies were sent out over a month ago, so the game is likely ready they're just bidding their time for the release of it.
Course of us EU peeps that means having our PS3s running for 2 days to download it ToT

2am in Australia? West coast that is, 5am over east. Shame, just means Saturday night shenanigans turn into live watching the stream!

Sincerely hope Sony bring their A game to this conference. The lack of a significant Gamescom showing leaves me with the impression we haven't had much from Sony in the past six months. Last Guardian footage, FfVIIR tease in some form (whether it is just concept trailer), a few few bigger bombs. Perhaps even a new God of War, more Horizon footage?

I hold hope out on the KH3 trailer shown at the Jap D23. Maybe this'll be the big worldwide reveal? Could make sense. Leaves the D23 attendees with a good month a bit of the initial reveal, and gives Sony another ace up their sleeve come the keynote. Either way, bloody excited!

Perfect timing for me as I finish an exam at 10 am and will probable be home by noon. The conference starts at 1 pm in my timezone.

Just a random thought, but chances of an Undertale port for the PS4 and Vita? I hate playing stuff on the PC, but if there's no mention of it at PSX then I'll just have to stop resisting and buy it off Steam or something.

Wha...what?

Was going to say the same. PGW wasn't E3 or even TGS level this year, but it was still good.
Edit: Actually im unsure if you quoted it because of the "Gamescom" thing or the "lack of a significant showing" part now lol.

It's pretty popular so MS and Sony are probably trying to get it on their console.
I wouldn't mind a Lethal League port either.

sony wasn't at gamecom in a conference/announcement sense. but PGW was great imo.

You're right, they really weren't at gamescom in any strong way as far as announcements go, but that's because PGW replaced it this year. I don't know how someone could call that a lack of a significant showing. He says that we haven't seen much from Sony in the last six months which just isn't true.

Wha...what?

We did get quite a bit of third party news, but nothing necessarily from Sony's stables. PGW gave us quite more to chew on, as mentioned above, but we have still had quite the break from E3 to now. All bias though, what's mind blowing to some may not be to others. Perhaps off the back of E3 it was an unsurmountable challenge to move into the rest of the year under its shadow.

Makes sense to split the news, keep the ball rolling all year. Just horrible for those of us impatient!

By "me and the rest of YakuzaGAF", I'm guessing you're talking about the people who seem to think it's coming out every week? Sorry but framing your guess like you know for a fact it'll happen is pretty dickish.

Call me jaded, but on Paris Games Week new trailers aren't exactly game changing. Announcements like GT, Tekken, all well and good, but we haven't had big news since E3. Once again, bias.

A new God of War, Crash, these are the announcements we haven't had much of since. A new trailer could just as easily be dropped any day of the week and gather the same fanfare, same as most of the announcements that came from Paris that week.

PGW was better than TGS for me. It announced Detroit: Become Human and Gran Turismo Sport, two big AAA games the latter of which is definitely coming out next year. That`s on top of the other big games. Ni Oh was the one big AAA game announced at TGS, but both games at PGW look more interesting. B- for TGS, B+ for PGW.

I like how you casually call the biggest IP Sony has ever had like some casual game lol

So Sony didn't have any first party news, except for those shows where they did. What?

Here's Sony's announcements this year:
Pre-E3: Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection, Beyond Remastered, Heavy Rain Remastered
E3: The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Dreams, RIGS
TGS: Gravity Rush Remastered, Gravity Rush 2, Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, Everybody's Golf
PGW: Gran Turismo Sport, Detroit: Beyond Human, Driveclub Bikes, Matterfall, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

They've announced a shitload of games since E3, what are you talking about?

Fair call, it seems I was grossly incorrect. In thinking the gap between E3 and now, calling that bare, I did miss a few it seems. I do apologise! I could argue on those PGW announcements, but once again I think I'm looking at it in the shadow of E3. It has been quite the six months for announcements!

PST for the times, right? I wanna catch these live

It should be since they're based on the west coast.

But Gran Turismo is the biggest franchise that Sony has, as far as first party announcements go, you just don't get bigger than that. The new Quantic Dream game was also announced, as well as U4's multiplayer blowout, lots of new info and footage on Wild, and new footage and details for Gravity Rush 2. If your expectations for game shows is E3, then you're going to be forever disappointed. No show will ever be as good as that was. That's one of those once in a lifetime situations.

Which I do think is entirely my problem here - in hindsight, should Sony have saved any announcements for this weekend? Perhaps the FfVIIR, a year on from the infamous troll?

So the chances that the games to be revealed at VGA won't be revealed at PSX right? I mean we won't get a GOW4 trailer at VGA then another at PSX.

Btw is there an official thread for VGA with a timer like this one?

No, FFVII is an E3-caliber reveal.

Even today, some people are still thinking of any non-E3 press conference as a "eh, will they even bother showing any big games", simply by virtue of most other companies not having a presence anywhere other than E3. There is still a perception (and it's true mostly) of E3 as the top dog of the event.

I mean, you can't go any games podcast without hearing someone go "I'm surprised at the amount of stuff Sony announces at TGS/Gamescom/etc", because they've been so ingrained in the idea that only E3 matters.

Well I'll be - I may be in the minority then that thinks announcements would be better suited spread out through the year, rather than this yearly mega fest of dreams. I suppose it has rightly earnt that crown though, for that exact reason. Either way, excited for what this weekend brings!

I think I read somewhere that it might never come to consoles due to some tricks the game pulls on your save files, plus other spoilery stuff.

Reading through last year's thread, man we had so much fun back then. I mean what happened to awesome crazy stuff like this:

Time to remove the shackles of conservatism and embrace the hype train. My updated predictions for the keynote:

  • Show opens with a trailer for new Crash. Thunderous applause.
  • The applause transitions into screams as Jack Tretton, who has been temporarily reinstated as head of SCEA for 2 hours, takes the stage to MC the event.
  • Announces a PS4 price-drop to $149. All existing PS4 owners are gifted $200 into their PSN accounts as a thank you to launch-window buyers. Can barely hear him over the screams.
  • The lights dim as a trailer for Horizon, now named 'Emagon' is shown. The graphical fidelity of the dinosaurs causes several attendees to become hysterical. Paramedics take them away and call for backup.
  • The SEGA logo illuminates the screen. Shenmu 1 & 2 HD collection announced, bundled freely with Shenmu 3, exclusive to PS4.
  • Kojima takes the stage. MGS5 now PS4 exclusive. MGS 1, 2 and 3 to be remade in the Fox Engine for PS4. As is Snatcher. Norman Reedus and Del Toro join him on stage for a 10 minute gameplay demo of Silent Hills. Tears stream down the faces of the audience the entire time.
  • Boyes sprints on stage dressed as Santa Claus, complete with Santa’s Sack. ‘I have some more gifts for you” he says, causing uncontrollable trembling in all present.
  • Suikoden I & II are available for download NOW on PSN, including optional fully orchestrated soundtrack.
  • Did somebody say Dino Crisis 4? Yes. Adam Boyes did, JUST NOW. He makes an awkward joke about PS4 being the undisputed home of dinosaurs. The reveal trailer shows Regina in a mech-suit fighting a T-Rex, 12 Raptors and a misguided Stegosaurus atop a mountain during a hurricane.
  • Boyes drops his Santa Sack on the floor and opens it. Shinji Hashimoto jumps out. The audience has been crying for so long that large swaths of people are losing brain function due to low salt-levels.
  • He doesn’t need to ask people to please be excited; there isn’t a dry seat in the room. New trailer shown for Kingdom Hearts. Mandy Moore is back as Aerith. FFXV world map shown, and 2015 release date revealed. “One more thing.” Audience holds its breath. FFVII HD remaster trailer shown. PS4 exclusive. Many audience members forget to resume breathing. The death count is getting out of control.
  • Amid the chaos, Chris Metzen takes the stage. PS4 exclusive Starcraft Ghost revealed. Paramedics have to restrain a man from clawing his own eyes out, such is the intensity of the reveal trailer.
  • Tretton takes the stage, visibly shaken by the carnage before him. But the show must go on. Let’s talk about firmware (it’s a Sony conference). Suspend resume available next week. PSN name changes sorted out, PS2 trophy support.
  • A turnbuckle and wrestling ropes rise from the stage, and Shu rushes towards it and reaches over with his outstretched hand. Tretton tags him in.
  • Medieval, Dark Cloud, Syphon Filter, Colony Wars and Wip3out have all been green-lit for PS4 games. The amount of happening in the room is causing cracks to appear in the walls of the theatre.
  • Kratos appears on screen. He's fighting the Gods of ancient Norse mythology. Trailer concludes with him disembowling Odin with a Dane Axe.
  • Naughty Dog logo appears. First footage of the Uncharted movie is shown. Wow, they really nailed the casting of Drake. Hang on. No? It couldn’t be? It’s actually photo-realistic 60fps 1080p gameplay footage of Uncharted 4. The stress of seeing UC4 gameplay causes a woman in the front row to go into premature labour. She wasn’t even pregnant when the show began.
  • Tretton thanks people for attending and watching at home. They still have new gameplay of Bloodbourne, The Order, No Man’s Sky, EGTTR, Rime, Wild, The Witness, Shadow of the Beast and more, but emergency rooms are at breaking point. Too much hype has been spilled this day.
  • “Oh, just one more thing”
  • The Last Guardian lives. Chunks of concrete fall from the ceiling, crushing those below. The room can’t handle all of the feels pulsating out of gamers as they bask in the glory of the gameplay trailer. The audience is too transfixed to run. When the June 2015 launch date is revealed the internet as we once knew it is dead. People watching at home scramble to put batteries in CB radios, hoping to pick up military chatter about the PSX event.
  • Only one attendee remains alive in the theatre. His glasses shattered while watching Sora, Donald and Goofy wage battle with Prince Hans, sparing his eyes from what followed. Scrambling over the corpses in the theatre, he takes refuge under a desk with Jack Tretton.
  • “Is it over?” he asks Jack tentatively.
  • “Yes” sighs Jack. “Well, except for one more thing”
  • The roof explodes, allowing a helicopter to lower someone down onto the stage.
  • It’s Gaben. Half-life 3 confirmed. Console exclusive on PS4. Available for download on Steam and PS4 RIGHT NOW.

If it eventuates it’d only be a solid 7/10 show because no Mass Effect or Fallout.

I read the rest of your comments, there´s no need pilling on since you acknowledged the situation.
