Sony prevents JRPG Omega Labyrinth Z from publication on PS4 and Vita in the West

I personally just don't think those are very valid reasons. Sony comes off as either crazy, weak-willed or lazy. Not a good look regardless of the scenario.

Again, obviously they can do whatever they want. It's their platform. I just disagree with their decision, and making pointless posts about it on the internet is about as much I can do about it.

I think we're all there with you :)

edit to clarify, I wasn't saying you InterMusketeer InterMusketeer I meant it's what we all do

Unfortunately, that's about all we can do at this point. I just really hope that they can at least do a Steam release if nothing else, and if we're lucky, they can do another print of and Asia version, but with English Subtitles, or do something like add a patch that adds the english translation.

They do lean towards "I love making as much money as possible" and are thus rather risk-averse.

This isn't a political decision, it's a business one to shield the brand from negative publicity.

Then why are they releasing games like Gal Gun and Akiba's Beat?

This was going to be a niche game no matter what, but there's probably a regular, dedicated audience for these types of games that make it profitable enough to release them.

If this were the only game held back, I'd say it might be business related. After this and Super Seducer got dropped, it makes me start to worry.

After Super Seducer got deep-sixed, it shouldn’t be surprising that Sony would do the same to other games that might create backlash or controversy due to content. The company doesn’t want to deal with it.
As a company I get it, as a player I hate these kind of shit with passion.
I don't get why everyone else have to suffer because some have issues with certain content.
I mean shit we got game ratings to deal with it, as crazy and as disturbing as some of it might be to certain people.
Yeay for choice... Oh wait someone's choice took mine away (we Inception-esque now).

Gal Gun and Akiba's Beat came out in 2016. The whole "anything slightly controversial needs to be buried 6 feet under" was not a thing back then so you bringing those up makes no sense.

It is 100% business, they are making less money by not releasing these games in the West.

It’s garbage for sexually frustrated weeaboos/otaku. Every store has to draw the line somewhere in regards to what they’ll sell. Seems like a pretty reasonable decision to me.

I don’t see people losing their shit over, say, bookstores not carrying hentai.

I don't buy it either, but it doesn't bother me if it's on the shelf.

Just because you or I don't care for it doesn't mean that other people shouldn't have the choice.

There's a difference between a game and outright pornography like hentai. Not comparable.

I just don't like corporations decided what I can and can't buy.

How long until Sony outdoes nineties Nintendo?
Those two games were rejected only after the press controversies.
Omega Labyrinth Z itself is a niche pervy game, but this decision is not inconsequential.
It means any game is fair game to get taken down whenever controversy arises, even after developers paid rating boards to review & clear content and avoid this.

I wonder if the material were husbandos if the same far left “journal” would care? Like others have said in this thread it’s just Sony protecting themselves from the morality officers of gaming.

What is culturally different between JP and the west: The acceptance of oversexualization of women or that these things aren't considered as sexual as the west considers them?

No they are considers sexualized and these games are also very niche maybe that is why Japan does not really care at all. These type of games are for a small minority.
