Shhhhh!, I guess when Veronica Belmont stopped doing QORE Sony died too eh!...….Let's be honest, if any company has tried a multitude of ways to communicate with their fans it's Sony.....Remember the website where you could create polls on features Sony should concentrate on and they brought in many firmware updates as to what most voted on..….Remember Qore, PS Underground, all those Sony discs and demos from PSM, OPM etc......Being part of their mailing lists and automatically being invited to betas etc...Being sent questionnaires and you name.....They have now tried State play and since PSN is in transition, they are releasing forums to bring something more formidable and forward thinking...…..

Nobody is shitting on forums here, it's just not a good way for a gaming company to present and discuss things anymore, not with all the streaming services, LIVE Q/A, Discord type services.....Hell Sony can integrate a chat portal directly to SIE right in their OS, we can already directly report errors automatically from our PS4's.....I really don't understand how people think Sony is regressing here, they have a plan.....


Remember this is the company that gave us remoteplay, shareplay, gave us LIVE with PlayStation, gave us a share button, direct access to ustream, twitch and youtube streaming...….Screenshots and video recording of our games.....Community and groups on PSN, they improved chat, the number of persons who could chat simul, they improved chat audio tremendously, provided chat/text to audio, voice commands if you have a camera...….You can easily follow your friends, what they are playing, start the game, jump into a friend's game......People have to know, Sony is not just working on hardware, they will offer the most robust/slick and fast OS with overhauled features and new features people never saw coming......Communities are great on PSN, they will evolve everything a million fold under a singular SEN/PSN ID.....
 
Not going to lie, I haven't used them in a hell of a long time. I always used NeoGAF so I don't really see it as a loss. In all fariness, Sony monitor forums like these more than their own because there are more MAU's and you get a broader range of opinions.
 
They probably going all-in on wokeness. When you do that you make sure to close all comments sections and public forums.

The ps forum is closing...... k move on. But nope we got walls of text from our warriors trying to say this is a good thing and the other warriors baiting.

If this was Microsoft closing the xbox forums tho, sony warriors would be the first to come and say "they're closing the xbox division" and/or other moronic comments lol.

Also have not PS been receiving lots of feedback from the system itself......Perhaps Sony has a plan to finestream communication directly from your PS5.....You can attach videos, pics about your issues or simply do a write up to customer support directly from your PS5, or use all the social apps right there on PS5 with quick access to Sony's feedback loop...……, I think as a whole Sony has plans to do lots more to connect the community if it's community people are worried about...….I imagine streaming, private chat and a setup similar to discord can work well for feedback...….I'm pretty sure they have looked at the stats and have determined what's best......Sony never shuts down anything without cause.....If you guys realize, they are always sending out questionnaires and looking at the stats on who is using certain features, the frequency and volume etc.....It's how they determined years ago, that BC was not a high-use feature, despite people on forums being the loudest about it...…..Not that they wont offer BC, but communication has evolved and since they plan to overhaul PSN and connect all Sony services, they have to reshape many things communication wise for better synergy across devices, using one Sony account for pictures, music, games et al...…..

Lets be honest, since Sony took so many names and shat from great heights this gen, everything they do now will be hawkwatched and pitchforked in attempts to stop their momentum and mindshare..….Funny enough, all the pitchforking ever does is to give Sony even more momentum......Examples? Oui Oui?

1.) Sony not doing Crossplay with MS will be their deathknell.

2.) I can play Fortnite with my Wii friends on XBOX, I cant do so on PS, I can't carry my saves and DLC I bought/got on PSN over to WIi and XBOX, that's anti-consumer and a death knell for Sony...

3.) Sony not attending E3, :messenger_face_screaming: oh boy this is huge, there's no coming back from this, that is literally it for Sony)...Deathknell

4.) Sony censors some games from Japan (I don't know if you know Japanese culture, but I know "meme") Anti-consumer I tell you, artists vision compromised et al.....Doomed..deathknell

5.) Sony not ready to reveal hardware PS5 specs, That's a bad sign, they are doomed.....Sony communication with its fans are so inexistent my dude....Deathknell, whilst the competition specs are also not revealed and are being fueled by lots of fake leaks and FUD, no issues, thumbs up, good guy MS, Smart Phil, that boy is a gamer.....Whilst Sony continues to talk to PS4 owners in the best way they can (Dreams, TLOU2, FF7 Remake, Tsushima etc...). with the bottom end of last gen feeding them with Concrete Genie, Death Stranding, Days Gone, Blood and Truth, Shenmue 3 etc......Deathknell, not good enough...


Lets be honest, anything Sony cuts now, (even if it's to improve on said thing)…….anywhere they don't go, it will be doom and gloom...… Funny enough, doom and gloom for Sony has always meant success.....So much for following the competition eh!......Sony writes it's own path.....Knows when to hold them, knows when to fold them, knows when to reboot and evolve.....

Well yeah, it's fanaticism on both sides. Such is gaming.

I would say the same shit if Xbox closed their forums I didn't even know they had. Spencer, Greenberg, and Hryb love their Twitter as well.

I'd like to see them return to forums like this, but that is probably a thing of the past, unless you're a spastic developer screeching about politics on Ree.

Seems these companies focus are on the broader reach and their "influencers" now. Hence Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and the like.

Its just a forum. Do I like the switch to twitter or even the look of this? No but whatever, its its not like its going to sway from buying the console.

I just hope all these changes lead to something better in the end.

XBOX still has forums? I joined that XBOX site years ago....XBOX.COM I believe, I believe there were some good guys there at the time, Speevy et al.....I think that folded years ago didn't it?

I don't even know. Like I said, I never even knew they had one. I used TeamXbox way back in the day early on.

Yeah for sure, TeamXbox, I used to go to that site.....
 
Such a shame because their forums used to pretty cool. Then the U.S forums did that goofy migration and destroyed the community. But that's what they wanted to happen, so mission accomplished.
 
A bit off topic but I saw a few bring up PS underground. I really miss that about Sony. Remember as a kid you could join and get certain demos on a disc and it had import demos never got released out of the US.

Back on topic, the forum seemed like dead weight. Doubt anyone will miss it. Just thankful NeoGAF and other communities still exist and thrive.

The japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase PS5, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move.
Sony, publicly apologize and restore the forums or you can kiss your business goodbye.
 
fuck the official forums, they are shit.

I had a problem with my account, found a official forum post with the same problem, the post had tons of replies saying they had the same error.
I posted with a +1. A cm contacted me with a private message, basically saying ¨hey, we looked at your IP and you are from another region, so banned from the forums´

Great freaking costumer service.
 
Wow I really hope they upgraded their shithouse customer service areas as the forums were sometimes the only way you could get answers in some territory's

anyone who says otherwise has never had the pleasure of dealing with their customer reps....they operate a global gaming hardware and software business but their customer support is split apart by region and some countries handle other regions and their reps have no fucking clue about certain regional services or country laws and if it's not on their script you have to wait an eternity to get someone to correspond with you.

If you raise a problem through the online chat they ban you from being able to go back (even if the issue is not resolved)

you are then left playing roulette with whatever region call centre is operating
 
Pretty much Reddit and forums like NeoGaf took over that space. For me, I just hope they have a proper support section besides twitter. Im having issues with Instagram for example and the only way I can "reach" them is through the app itself on my phone and seems so insignificant. They don't even have an email or actual website support section.
 
Anyone remember when Sony was hailed as consumer friendly back when the PS4 was launched? Seems like they are slowly moving away from that
