Sony's PS4 Team Makes Disabled Fan's Day

I don't think it is fair to give away free consoles because they couldn't play the game at an event.

Also there should have been some way for them to get to the second floor. I just find it hard to believe there wasn't an elevator.

Lol you don´t think it´s fair? It is Sony´s property they can do what the heck they want with it. Really hope you are being sarcastic.

And when will people start reading threads instead of just posting question that have been answered several times. Lazy buggers.

well it's certainly a clever way of saving some money on providing proper disabled access while gaining a pr boost for it

but i am very cynical

That was nice of them and very cool for the gamers who scored some PS4s. This doesn't have to be a big fanboy thing. Reps on site did something nice that in turn will put some positive light on them, big deal. Is it really necessary to be junior detectives in this situation?

Hopefully more events and companies attending keep in mind to try and make things accessible for everyone.

did you bother reading the link on the OP about the 2nd floor at this venue?

Fair or not, it was a nice gesture from Sony, they weren't forced in any way to give away the consoles, they could've said what MS did and just say "Sorry" (which is fair).
The way I understand it, it's the events fault for not having ways for people in wheelchairs to get to the second floor, not MS/Sonys.

this is why we can't have nice things GAF

the OP should have the facebook reply image so that we don't have the same people talking about 1st floor 2nd floor stuff

So they wanted to see titanfall but didnt because microsoft didnt wanted to help them for the stairs?

Nice for Sony though

Yeah, his original statement makes out like MS straight up told him to get going and he couldn't play any games at all, when there were XB1 games that he could play available, just not the one he wanted to play.

As someone who attended PAX, I have to say that only wanting to play Titanfall apparently isn't that unusual. The booths for Ryse and Lococycle weren't exactly drawing the sort of lines that break the fire code, if you catch my drift. (I actually hopped in both just to get a little more hands-on time with the new controller without having to wait too long, and because the Lococycle guys were doing an X-Box One giveaway.)

As it stood at PAX, telling people they can't see Titanfall is as good as telling them they can't see the X-Box One. No one was particularly interested in anything else.

(And yes, the PS4 situation wasn't entirely dissimilar. There were a lot of kiosks for free-to-play and indie games like Blacklight: Retribution and Octodad: Dadliest Catch that had consistently short lines. Not a knock on the games, I think it's just a basic statement of fact that fans at these events don't want to see the system, they want to see the system selling games.)

Story smells a bit funny, but I'll choose to believe it cause it's cool.

I believe all of it actually. I also believe that he likes Sony and dislikes Microsoft already.. judging by his facebook post.
"The XBox area had the exact same setup and all we were told is "Sorry, it's upstairs, you can't try it" and were sent off. Typical!"

Edit. Take it all back. I was wrong. Leaving it up though, to accept my wrongness.

The 'typical' was in regards to how a lot of situations with stairs and I end. I wrote 1 line because I didn't want it to be about them but I did want to show to how much effort Sony went to compared to a rival. Never did I expect or feel entitled to anything for the setup of either booth. But 1 went above and beyond anything ever.

You know what's also not fair? Being disabled while others can walk!

I'm sure now that Microsoft knows Sony gave someone in a wheelchair a free PS4, they are working hard to change any policies that might prohibit them from giving out free Xbox Ones to people in wheelchairs and will be announcing something soon that they will introduce sometime in 2014.

I think he means 'typical!' because that's the day-to-day response he gets for having the audacity to be in a wheelchair and trying to go where others have no problems, not typical shitty shitting shithead Microsoft!

I'm shocked at the outrage some people are having.

To the credit of the Microsoft reps, they did nothing wrong. They apologized to the gamers who couldn't go to the next floor, which is the very least you should do.

The guy just posted on facebook over his surprise when the Sony reps took the apologies all the way and did far more than he expected, just to compensate for what they missed out on that moment.

Full credit goes to those people who were working at the Sony stand, because they spontaneously took initiative and did everything to make those visitors enjoy their time.

The Microsoft reps might have also wanted to give them something as a compensation, but maybe they were not allowed to, who knows?

Considering their system started out with mandatory Kinect, I think its safe to say disabled gamers are not on the top of MS's priority list.

I don't think MS did anything wrong here, what you've got is a case of Sony execs analyzing the situation before showtime and realizing that them and MS were in the same boat.

Then they decided to blow a few grand on some cheap but incredibly effective PR, seems pretty brilliant if you ask me, nothing like free consoles to get the social media going.

How did this turn into a console wars thread?

If I knew this would happen I wouldn't have post it, unbelievable that people can turn this into a negative.

The fact that a situation like this has been used by some for another round of "console warz" is just amazing to me.

Nice job mucking up a good story.

Who is truly handicapped?

Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how far I roll myself a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop using my wheelchair when going into work? A business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ loses a wheelchair bound employee. Disappears! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens the door for me and gets shot and you think thats because of me? No. I am the one who rolls!

To counter their dismay, the Sony representative said something along the lines of "We are extremely sorry, it should have never happened but because it is totally our fault, and we always support our disabled player base, we would like to offer something along with our sincerest apology" and handed all four gamers a voucher and a promise for free PlayStation 4 units on release day.

Bullshit! Where is my fucking text-chat in-game as a disabled option to Voice-Chat, Sony? Fucking PC has done this for 40+ years and your asses can't even do that and neither can MS!

Where's my free PS4 voucher? Huh? Huh?

£1200 for that much positive publicity... Bargain!!!

Empowering someone at an event like that to make that type of decision... Priceless!!!

Sony did good in the PR stakes... Again!

I am starting to think Sony is putting something in my water!

Wh... I don't even...

What happened to this thread? Are people really this fond of taking a dump on the opposite side? What the hell
