At the beginning I was on the fence, but near the end it all came together. This will definitely go down as one of the weird South Park episodes ever.:lol :lol

Well I think that settles it. After so many years I'm going to stop bothering with the new episodes.

just in case anyone cares lol

Two episodes is hardly going to get me to stop watching all together. Hell, even an entire season wouldn't.

It's not like it's that serious of a situation. Like I have anything else to do on Wednesdays at 10.

This was so much better than, say, if they had gone the same route they went with Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, etc...where it's the same boring piling on that everyone and their grandmother has done already. That's what I expected when South Park Studios first mentioned Britney's name ("LOL she's Looney Tunes!" is what I figured we'd get.)

I thought the camel-toe, plastic surgery, getting fat, etc stuff was hilarious. I was rolling.

They managed to be funny while still nailing a home run with regards to Britney Spears and the shithead mocking/bloodlust among the masses. It was a bit too grim but still made a great point.

Personally the series has really gone down hill the past two seasons. Just not as many laughs as earlier seasons. It is also usually coming down to Cartman versus Kyle and becoming too gimmicky. It had a good run though.

If you still love the new episodes, just ignore this old fan ranting.

I loved the way how they said Britney Watch towards the end of the episode. :lol

Also, I thought when that one photographer was making that werid noise when he saw Britney leave in the car, it was reference to I Am Legend. =\

It was out of character for Cartman to not take a picture of Britney's corpse before leaving the room.

Also, the Latin chanting was the same tune as Rectus Dominus from the Damien episode, I was expecting satan to show up.

Episode was meh; although it's the first time i've been actually disgusted at south park animation.... the whole britney-missing-her-head thing was literally grossing me out, made the episode kind of unlikeable to me.

It was about as troubling as a cartoon could ever get for me, too...the whole situation, from the gunshot on (not to mention it was a bit saddening to think about the reality of that nasty attitude people take towards her existence).

While the half-head was definitely a bit gratuitous, it kinda seemed necessary that they go that far with it.

If this episode ended right after she died and didn't have the final scene, this would have been one of the most disturbing half hours of television I think I've ever sat through. It wasn't funny, it was disgusting. That half headed figure was like visually repugnant. And just the way it died...jesus, it actually bothered me.

It was weird. Like they purposely didn't try to make it funny... More like they were strictly going for a horror vibe.

When they've done that in the past though like with the evil critters of the forest one, it was still quite funny in addition to being a little creepy.

2 parts that made me laugh out loud:

-the picture of Butters being taken by animal control :lol
-that reporter pointing and making that noise as Britney tried to get away :lol

I also laughed at Butters' little indignant "YOU KILLED HER!" at stan and kyle. Not that great but still kinda fun. It's not like I regret watching it DVRed, although I did fast forward thru the whole Britney Dance Show

Watching tonight's episode was torturous. It's annoying when they pick a stupid topic/plot and stick with it till it kills ya.

I was looking forward to some political humor. We were teased at the beginning with the Obama/Clinton debate they were watching.

... what in the WORLD...
God. head-blown-off britney had to be the most disturbing think I've watched for a 30-minute span ever... Eerg. I'm gonna have nightmares of that.

Butters <3 as usual... Would've been more humorous with some Cartman though I would think... but yeah

Wow. I don't really know how to describe this episode...

Just watched it, it was ok, the pointing out of the mediocrity of the media following her was what I found funniest.

anyone seen Irreversible?

man that film is hard work, that siren sound, the way its shot and the rape scene :(

That was indeed a very disturbing and weird episode. It was entertaining none the less, I only got 2 laughs out of it though. When Butters was captured and when they busted out the latin chant.

yeah, i was referencing the fire extinguisher scene...much worse than the rape scene IMO. this episode, unfortunately, reminded me of it.

I was on the fence for the first half, but as soon as the "she HAS TO die" stuff started it won me over. So true and morbidly hilarious.

Plus squirrel Butters, camel toe, and corn harvest ending were great.

You didn't even laugh at this part?

Redeeming features of the episode:

-latin chanting (esp. Randy)
-"not me, i'm a squirrel"
-frosty the snowman voiceover
-the gwlarg gwlarg sound britney's halfhead makes when its trying to sing

I felt the horror vibe on the ending followed by the corn harvest was absolutely spot-on. Definitely shows how Trey has grown as a director over the course of the series.

Still, not feeling a lot of love for season 12 at this point.

Wait, what? I just watched both episodes and then read this thread. Thought they were hilarious, great eps.
Oh well, heh.

I couldnt stop laughing when Britney blew the top of her head off and boys just stood there speechless.

I was in a pretty packed room (about ten people), and at least half of us were screaming "DO IT!" to Cartman as he stood there holding the camera immediately afterwards. Morbid? Yes.

I thought this was a great episode, but I'm biased in that I think the topic of media attention on children is extremely fascinating.

Man, neither of the last two episodes are doing it for me.

Britney Watch and the reaction shot after Britney killed herself were both pretty funny, but other than that the episode was a combination of preachy (not necessarily a bad thing) and unfunny (definitely a bad thing).
