Uhh...

I'm getting caught back up on this show. This show is so damn awesome. I'm only up to episode 3, and I'm seeing some incredible spoiler-esque language in this thread... so I'm gonna bail.

but yeah, this show is badass.

and i'm caught up... almost. still waiting for the next episode to get put up on TNT.

holy shit. nate. :(

for some reason I think Sammie is a cool ass character. He pretty much singlehandedly made What Makes Sammy Run? in S2, and then just his total helplessness during that riot was insane. I don't know how he got out of there with only shooting one person. I'm really interested to see why they went after Nate.

Damn, that stuff with John was hard to watch. I really love how in depth they get with these characters' back stories. They don't feel weightless at all in addition to the show.

I like that they mostly ignored the events of last week. Life goes on for everyone else, etc.
Exactly. They pulled that off really well. They basically punched us in the gut with killing off Nate but to everyone else minus Sammie and Nate's family, it just doesn't have that big of an impact on everyone else because I'm sure it's something that they unfortunately have to deal with pretty often. I loved the preview for next week though. Sammie going after Nate's killer gave me chills

Another great episode... I wasn't feeling the beginning of the season but these last few have been S1-good.

:)

Just finished watching the episode from Jan 25th. I was bothered by the character becoming a dead end story-wise. Then he had his swan song moment, and it was all curtains from there.

So happy this show is still being made. It ruins other cop shows for me. I couldn't even give Detroit 1-8-7 a fair shot. Southland's style is so damn awesome.

You need to because 1-8-7 is also really good.

Just caught up all the way. Season 3 has been on fire.

Lydia plots have always been my least favorite, but this season they've been at least decently entertaining.
The Ben/John stuff has been great too. Something big is coming with John, and Ben learning just how little he knows was simultaneously funny and heartbreaking.
In season 1 I didn't care about Sammy or Nate. Over season 2, Sammy became my favorite character (behind John). And now that's even more solidified. "What Makes Sammy Run?" and "Code 4" are two of the best episodes of this show.

I liked that Sammy wasn't in this episode and Nate took a backseat. It was another one of those details of street cop life that I love to see.

Damn at Episode 4, just catching up. Show is on top form this season.

And as someone said, fills The Wire void very nicely.

Tonight was fucking awesome.
Sammy is a certifiable Grade-A goddamn badass. He was so awesome tonight. Exactly how I wanted him to come back. They don't have him going "well Nate was nice to some of these guys so I will be too." Which is a good thing. The scumbags that took out Nate need to be taught a fucking lesson. I hope Sammy gets the chance to hit back hard. Also, was he still just staying with the Moretta's to help them out and keep them company? He was acting weird around Nate's wife.
Coop and Ben's story didn't have a lot to it, and yet it was great. It's always been said that the show is great when it looks at the lives of blues, and showing how a celebrity death irks them was fun, touching, and dark. Was this the first time we had all-the-way confirmation that John is gay? I mean, I definitely suspected it in season 1. But I'm pretty sure this was the first time we see him in bed with a man.
Lydia's part of the double homicide & suicide was boring. OMG am I cop??? Silly, just didn't fit her character much and it wasn't an appropriate reaction to what was happening. But the other two parts of the story were so excellent that it didn't matter.

Seriously, season 3 is so damn good.

Alright ep, but pissed there was nothing much from last ep.

On a side note i seen a ladder come flying out the back of a car today as well.
I think you're a week behind >_> Tonight was the second ep since the one where Nate died.

I loved the scenes with Sammy chasing the dude down and then the one with him on the street where Nate died, especially the latter. That was awesome. Really excited to see where that storyline goes.

I hope Sammy being the dad doesn't mean we'll be seeing Tammi again. Was so glad when he left.

Has there ever been a more useless and unlikable character in a show?

Sal's daughter probably gives her a good run for her money.

I miss Sal this season. He's barely in it any more. :( He gets like one scene every 2 episodes.

She's certainly in the running for most annoying.

Stupid budget cuts :(

Yeah more Sal would be good. Any chance we see more of him with Nate gone now? I guess we haven't seen more of him these past two eps though. He's still in the opening credit sequence I think.

He's only there in episodes he appears in. I hope we can see more of him now too.
Chickie, too.

Haha... that makes sense. I just noticed him in there last night. Didn't really think about that being the case. Well, hopefully he'll be in some more soon.

Another great episode. That scene with Sammy in the neighborhood was great... it was almost like he began with trying to justify what happened to his new partner to his barely suppressed rage at the people coming out. Man, can't wait to see what happens.

Did Sammy grow the same beard as Nate?

Brilliant episode. Poor Sammy :( Also, I fucking knew it was Russell! The Sherman and Bull stuff was great this ep. The look on Sherman's face as they were handing out the ice-cream lol Felt so bad for the guy from Better Off Ted. Seemed like such a nice guy, very sad :(

Just saw last weeks episode on the TNT website... where Sammy goes back in blues and takes a stand where Nate got it.

So awesome. Man I love this show!

Good episode but the reveal of who leaked the pics was pretty obvious to me. Sammy is going to do something drastic I think since he couldn't ID the attacker. Definitely feel for the guy though, just hope he doesn't get himself killed.

Most realistic cop show I've ever seen. Plus I'm a cop so the nuances of the show that make it so realistic to me would be missed by most other people.

Great episode. This is the best season yet. Hopefully TNT will sign on for a longer season 4. 10 episodes just seems too short. At *least* match Dexter's 12 episode seasons.

That's pretty cool actually. I just watched watch the pilot of Chicago Code and turned it off halfway through. Glad the realism is true in SL.

Catching up on the eps. Watching the one from 2 weeks ago with that ice cream picture, what a great episode. Laughed out loud when the guy walked out of the trailer after they moved it. Sherman is awesome.

Terrific episode this week. So glad that nothing happened to Dewey. That final scene with Sherman and Ben was fucked up yo. Sammy is such a bad-ass.

I really liked last night's episode. The Lydia storyline didn't do a ton for me, but the other two storylines were great. Sammy's has just been great lately. And yeah, the ending to Ben and John's was pretty messed up.

Some of the clues they leave during the storylines are pretty blatant. The fact the old guy in the park asked more questions than he should have made it obvious to me that the old guy had the kids in his basement or whatever. But man, they absolutely nail the emotion every single time. When John said sometimes its better to know you've done the right thing than actually catching the bad guy is spot the fuck on.

I called the old guy as well.

Sammy should've shot the guy... if it is the guy. He looks like the dude with the pipe.
