Space Hulk coming to Wii U, PS3, and Vita in 2015

Wow, did not expect that to come to Wii U, is this the first Games Workshop game on a Nintendo home console? I know there was a Warhammer on DS as well.

It's out on Steam, reviews don't look so hot though:

What does GAF think of the game?

PR:

Space Hulk® Blasts its way onto consoles everywhere!

The Desperate Battle of Space Marines and Genestealers Commences on PS3®, PS-VITA®, and Wii U™ Platforms in 2015

Berkeley, CA –December 2nd, 2014. – International Publisher HR GAMES today announced that in association with Full Control and Games Workshop, it will be bringing the digital version of Games Workshop’s legendary Space Hulk® to the PS3 (PlayStation® 3), PS-VITA (PlayStation® VITA) and the Nintendo eShop on Wii U™ in 2015. Based on the best-selling board game and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Hulk® is a 3D digital turn based strategy game that recreates the classic claustrophobic board game experience for single player and multiplayer.

Space Hulk is set in the isolated corridors and tomb-like chambers of an ancient vessel lost in the graveyard of space. Players lead a small army of fearless Space Marine Terminators to battle in a ferocious fight for survival against hordes of predatory alien Genestealers. Based on the "Sin of Damnation" campaign from the 3rd edition board game, Space Hulk includes a robust 12 mission single-player campaign, a co-operative campaign, Blood Angel and Space Wolf Chapters and many other thrilling missions! Recreating the tense battles of the board game, multiplayer mode will allow players to go head-to-head as one player controls the Space Marines and their opponent the Genestealers, in the ultimate fight for domination.

‘We are simply honored to bring this legendary universe to consoles everywhere. Having played the board game years ago and being a big fan of Games Workshop products, our decision to make this journey was a natural one’ expressed Manny Granillo, President & CEO of HR GAMES. ‘The PS3, PS-Vita and Wii U™ with its unique GamePad controller, will make the SPACE HULK® universe come to life!’

Space Hulk 2013 is not very good. I say that as a huge fan of Games Workshop. It's just rough. It looks rough. It plays clunky.

Supposedly the new Space Hulk Ascension, released this year, is very good.

So it confuses me why they would release last year's clunker to consoles, not the newer better game.

I'm interested to see how good the performance is, especially on Vita. Apparently, the PC version ran poorly even on pretty good machines.

isn't ascension just the patched up and slightly expanded space hulk? this console one will probably include all the new stuff.

It plays differently, apparently. It also looks different, with new animations, textures, and so on.

So it's significantly different. Again, this is supposedly, as I haven't played it myself.

It's a new game. They damaged it I think by calling it as they did, because everyone thinks it's the same game. The devs call it a sequel themselves. It also has no multiplayer, which the 2013 version did, but instead has over a hundred campaign missions, as opposed to about 20.

oh. very interesting. will pick it up then! lol. they probably should have stated right on the game blurb first thing on steam THIS IS A COMPLETELY NEW GAME. haha. I remember watching a trailer for it when it came out, and it looked like the exact same game, so I didn't think any further on that and kind of forgot about it.

I was a big fan of the original boardgame and the game was all but identical and I really liked it. Haven't bought Ascension yet but have heard it layers RPG type mechanics on the original.

It might be interesting getting it running on last gen consoles. The initial 32bit version blew up with a out of memory error on my 64bit machine on one of the bigger levels, though they did fix it eventually. I will say their support were very quick to follow up issues. It may just have been an issue with the 32bit version of Unity.
